The Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister said that biofuel is an energy that is obtained from household and farm waste, grains or spoiled grains, and this environmentally-friendly, clean fuel is also a powerful medium to accelerate the country's development.
"Namibia joins GBA. India's initiative towards clean energy and the expansion of the Global Biofuel Alliance family is another proof of PM Narendra Modi's farsightedness on the mantra of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam," the minister said in a post on X.
Puri emphasised that the Prime Minister's efforts toward biofuels are bringing substantial change to the nation and improving the lives of citizens.
"PM Modi's efforts have brought a 'new revolution of change through biofuel' in India. This green fuel, which is powering India's development journey, is changing and improving the lives of people from villages to cities," the minister posted.
The biofuel is not only helping farmers to generate income, but the development around it is creating new employment opportunities, especially in rural areas.
"Along with increasing the income of farmers, this fuel is also creating new employment opportunities in rural areas," he added.
In a recent conversation with IANS, the minister said that biofuel blending has reached 20 per cent this year, which was 1.4 per cent in 2014.
India today stands strong as the third-largest biofuel producer in the world. According to official estimates, ethanol blending initiatives have improved farmer incomes over the past ten years because they are made from sugarcane, created jobs in rural areas, decreased CO2 emissions equal to planting 1.75 crore trees, and saved Rs 85,000 crore in foreign exchange.
Leading this effort are public sector oil companies Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum, which have introduced a variety of ethanol and gasoline blends throughout the nation.

₹2.4 trn worth of housing plots launched in last 3.5 years: PropEquity
Housing plots worth ₹2.44 trillion have been launched in past three and half years because of higher demand post-Covid pandemic, according to PropEquity. Real estate data analytic firm PropEquity data showed that nearly 470,000 residential plots have been launched by developers between January 2022 and May 2025 across 10 tier-I and tier-II cities. These cities are Hyderabad, Indore, Bengaluru, Chennai, Nagpur, Jaipur, Coimbatore, Mysore, Raipur and Surat. "The estimated launch value of the residential plots in 10 tier I-II cities between 2022 and 2025 (May) is approximately ₹2.44 trillion," PropEquity Founder and CEO Samir Jasuja said in a statement on Tuesday. The demand for residential plots has risen in the past few years as this asset class is more liquid with potential of higher appreciation than apartments, he added. Jasuja said many prospective customers prefer plots as they desire to customise their living space. As per the data, the supply of residential plots in these 10 cities fell 23 per cent annually in 2024 to 1,26,556 plots from 1,63,529 plots in the preceding year. PropEquity said 45,591 residential plots have been launched during the the first five months of 2025. "For developers, plots generate quick cash flow as they involve faster sales and less upfront investment as compared to apartments," the company said. The weighted average launch price of residential plots in these 10 cities rose 27 per cent annually in 2024 to ₹3,679 per sq ft, which translates to ₹33,111 per square yard and Rs 39,586 per square metre. Commenting on the report, Kirthi Chilukuri, Founder and MD of Stonecraft Group, said, "The surge in plotted development across India's cities reflects a growing desire among people for ownership and personalisation." Yashank Wason, Managing Director, Royal Green Realty, said, "Indore's rise among the top three plotted development markets is a testament to its evolution into a dynamic real estate destination." Sam Chopra, President and Country Head, eXp Realty India, said the launch of 470,000 plots in these 10 cities in just over three years reflects a decisive shift in buyer behaviour, from built-up units to land ownership.

The government has also decided to constitute a 12-member committee, headed by the chief secretary, for the same.' The cabinet also approved 30 proposals of different departments on Tuesday. The decision assumes significance ahead of the assembly polls due later this year. 'I am delighted to share that, so far, 10 lakh youth in the state have been provided with government jobs, and approximately 39 lakh people have been given employment, and the target of providing government jobs/employment to over 50 lakh youth will certainly be achieved. 'Currently, under the Saat Nischay programme, the youth of the state are being provided with skill development training to connect them with self-employment opportunities. In the next five years, the ongoing programme under Saat Nischay for youth skill development will be expanded,' the CM wrote on X on Sunday. The cabinet also approved more than Rs 179 crore for the maintenance of the priority corridor of metro rail which will become operational from August 15, 2025, in Patna. A proposal of sanctioning of more than 179 crore for the maintenance of the priority corridor of metro rail and Rs 21.15 crore for hiring three metro car single sets on rent were also approved by the cabinet. The three-coach train set will run on a 6.49-km elevated section between Malahi Pakri and the New ISBT, a priority corridor designed to serve one of the busiest traffic zones in the city. With 4 IAS spokespersons & new public redressal system, Stalin govt expands outreach ahead of 2026 polls
Sources in the secretariat told ThePrint that the measures are part of the state government outreach to people ahead of the 2026 assembly elections. The 'Ungaludan Stalin' (Stalin with you) programme will be launched by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on 15 July in Chidambaram, in Cuddalore district. It will continue until November 2025. Chennai: Ahead of the 2026 assembly elections, the DMK-led Tamil Nadu Government has appointed four senior IAS officers—P. Amudha, J. Radhakrishnan, Gagandeep Singh Bedi and Dheeraj Kumar—as spokespersons for the government for the first time. The government will also launch 'Ungaludan Stalin' a public redressal system, that will be taken to the common man through camps. 'Apart from the popular schemes, including a free bus scheme and a Rs 1,000 financial assistance scheme for women, it was understood that there was a lack of awareness among the grassroots level people about the works done by the government. Hence, the Chief Minister has initiated such measures,' the source at secretariat told ThePrint. Additional Chief Secretary P. Amudha IAS, who was the special officer for CM's Public Grievance Redressal initiative, will be heading the 'Ungaludan Stalin' initiative. Speaking to ThePrint, Additional Chief Secretary P. Amudha said that the government would be conducting 10,000 camps including, 3,738 camps in Urban areas and 6,232 camps in rural areas. 'It is a continuation of the Makkaludan Mudhalvar (Chief Minister with people) scheme launched in 2023, and the Mudhalvarin Mugavari (Chief Minister's address) scheme launched in 2021, which received overwhelming response from people,' P. Amudha told ThePrint. According to her, as on 30 June 2025, as many as 1.5 crore petitions on grievances were received, of which 1.1 crore petitions were resolved. Similarly, in the Makkaludan Mudhalvar scheme, as many as 9.5 lakh petitions were received from urban areas between November 2023 and January 2024 and 1.02 crore petitions were received in rural areas between July 2024 and September 2024, of which 95% of the petitions were resolved. 'The Chief Minister found that the schemes were very helpful for the people to get services at their door step. So, we once again conducted camps in the rural areas where SC/ST population is higher. Between January 2025 and June 2025, as many as 433 special camps were held in which as many 1.8 lakh petitions were received of which 1.47 lakh petitions were resolved,' Amudha told ThePrint. She also said that the 'Ungaludan Stalin' programme will help people resolve basic issues like changing names and addresses in the ration card, voter id, Aadhaar, etc., through the camps. 'The Chief Minister has instructed us to send volunteers to inform the households a week in advance about the camp, details eligibility and required documents. Under the 'Ungaludam Stalin' programme in urban areas, we will be providing 43 services, and 46 services in rural areas,' she said, adding that the officers were instructed to resolve the issue within 45 days. 'It is not that all the issues will be taking 45 days, say for instance, some of the issues will be resolved in a day or two. Some issues like changing the name in Patta (land record document) and all might take a bit more time,' she told ThePrint. Four IAS officers appointed as Government Spokespersons According to the official release from the State Government, the official government spokespersons would be disseminating key information about various schemes and other essential matters of the department to the public through media in a timely and accurate manner. 'The secretaries of various departments will provide information to the government spokespersons of the concerned department, who in turn will verify the information and provide it to the media through press conferences,' an official source told ThePrint. According to the official release, J. Radhakrishnan will handle information on the Energy Department, Health and Family Welfare Department, Transport Department, Co-operation, Food and Consumer Protection Department, Welfare of Non-Resident Tamils, School Education Department, Higher Education Department, Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles and Khadi Department, and the Human Resources Management Department. Similarly, Gagandeep Singh Bedi will provide information regarding Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Animal Husbandry, Dairying, Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare Department, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, Water Resources Department, Environment, Climate Change and Forests Department, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Department, Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce Department and the Natural Resources Department. Dheeraj Kumar will provide information regarding the Home, Prohibition, and Excise Departments. P.
