Prosecco-fuelled woman banned from driving after crashing husband's £200k Ferrari

Claire Taddei admitted crashing the Ferrari 458 Spider, belonging to husband Dom, while driving her friend home late at night when she was over the limit.
A woman has been banned from driving and fined after she smashed her husband's £200,000 Ferrari following a Prosecco-fuelled booze up.

Claire Taddei, 47, admitted crashing the Ferrari 458 Spider, belonging to husband Dom, while driving her friend home late at night when she was over the limit.

The mortgage firm boss ploughed the flash sports car into another motor while more than twice the legal limit, causing £50,000 worth of damage.

The smash happened on Market Square in Melrose, Roxburghshire, in February. Police were alerted around midnight when Taddei, a chief financial officer, crashed the car and an eye-witnesses took a video of her staggering out.
She failed a roadside breath test and was arrested and charged before being taken to hospital with suspected concussion.
She pled guilty yesterday at Selkirk Sheriff Court to driving while over the limit. The court heard that the mum of four had walked to a friend's house at 8pm with another pal to celebrate their new job.

Taddei's lawyer, Laurelle Johnstone, said her client 'shared two bottles of prosecco and her other friend had a bottle of wine.'

Johnstone added: 'The friend she walked there with became intoxicated and they left around 10.30pm to walk home. Her friend began to fall over after around 10 minutes. By that time, it was wet and dark and they had two dogs with them.

'[Taddei] was concerned about them walking over a pedestrian bridge over the river and then her friend fell again. At that time, Ms Taddei panicked. She tried to call her mum and dad but they had also been drinking but offered to let her friend stay the night.
'When she tried to get her friend up to do that, she wasn't cooperative. Her friend had a son and was anxious to get home.

'No one was able to assist and [Taddei] got herself in a state of panic. She ran home with the dogs to get her car. She put her friend in the recovery position on the grass and drove her husband's car.
'She had driven it only once. It's a Ferrari and is particularly responsive.
'She drove back and only got one mile down the road before colliding with another vehicle. When the car stopped, she became aware of six or seven people who came out of a pub. They were hurling abuse at her and she felt vulnerable.'
Johnstone told the court that due to Taddei being intoxicated, her insurer wouldn't cover the damage to both vehicles.
She has already shelled out £50,000 for repairs to the Ferrari. Sheriff Sinclair fined Taddei £900 and told her that her driving ban would be cut from 12 months to nine if she does a drink-driving course.

Top female BBC star at centre of 'nude scandal' after showing X-rated pic to junior colleague

The unnamed BBC star, who allegedly showed the unsolicited nude snap to a junior colleague, is said to be one of the highest earners in the Beeb this year. A well known female star on the BBC has reportedly been involved in a shocking scandal after allegedly showing an unsolicited nude snap to a junior colleague which comes as the latest controversy under the broadcaster's watch. ‌ According to The Sun, the presenter, who has not yet been named, is said to be a high earner in the company and ranked in the Corporation's top 50 highest paid this year. ‌ The unnamed star allegedly showed a graphic image of a nude man's genitals on her phone during a conversation about personal preferences, leaving the recipient 'completely horrified". The identity of the male in the snap remains unknown but insiders claim the interaction was intended as 'jokey, locker-room banter". ‌ However, the situation took an uncomfortable turn and is said to have left the junior staff member in tears. A source described the scandal as a "ticking time bomb". They warned: 'As soon as the name of this woman - and details of her bad behaviour - are unleashed, it will derail entire departments and mark the first female to be formally swept up into the BBC's wrongdoing roll call. "The woman asked the young producer if she liked 'd*** pics' and then showed her a picture on her mobile phone. ‌ "It was meant to be jokey, locker-room type banter, but the woman was completely horrified and cried about it. 'No one minds a bit of office banter, but this was on another level. She felt like it was an intentionally shocking move to intimidate, veiled as a joke. It was way too much. 'The woman had to apologise to the girl. It's double standards, but somehow a woman being involved in showing d**k pics feels much more offensive than a male. ‌ "The release of her name would be seismic.' This would mark the first time a female BBC star has been swept into the broadcaster's growing list of controversies. ‌ The alleged incident adds to the BBC's growing pile of scandals with the Beeb still recovering from heavily reported misconduct claims involving other high-profile stars. These include MasterChef hosts Gregg Wallace and John Torode, who were recently axed following an investigation into their behaviour behind the scenes. Earlier this year, former newsreader Huw Edwards admitted to multiple charges relating to indecent images and was handed a suspended prison sentence. ‌ The BBC responded to the latest scandal by saying: "While we do not comment on individual cases, we take all complaints about conduct at work extremely seriously." Even flagship shows such as Strictly Come Dancing have not escaped scrutiny. ‌ The BBC dance show faced a major shake up after allegations against ex-professional dancers Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima were raised, both of whom have now been replaced. Earlier this year, former BBC radio host Russell Brand was also charged with rape, indecent assault and sexual assault between 1999 and 2005. This triggered a wider inquiry into institutional safeguarding failures during his time with the broadcaster in the 2000s. All of these scandals, which span across news, entertainment, and reality formats, have prompted repeated calls for reform, with critics calling for greater transparency and accountability from the publicly funded media giant.

Brit, 54, has legs amputated in Thailand after 'hit and run' leaves him needing 24/7 care

WARNING, GRAPHIC CONTENT: An alleged it and run in Thailand left a British man requiring surgery to amputate both of his legs. Willie Braid is still recovering in a Bangkok hospital A British expat lost both of his legs in an alleged hit and run in Thailand. ‌ Willie Braid, 54, was involved in a crash with a lorry while he was riding a motorbike in the capita l of Bangkok on July 27. The Scottish man was then rushed to hospital with life-changing injuries and the driver of the lorry is alleged to have fled the scene. ‌ Following the crash and the injuries Willie sustained, he suffered kidney failure and was placed in an induced coma. Both of his legs had to be amputated below the knee and he still requires round the clock care in hospital. It comes after a schoolboy, 13, has both legs amputated after 'getting cramp' at sports camp. ‌ READ MORE: NATO scrambles warplanes as Russia shoots down West's F-16 fighter jet in Ukraine onslaught His sister June, who flew out to Thailand after she was informed of the crash, said Willie has come out of the coma but 'doesn't know where he is or what's happened'. She explained he 'recognises us, but he's very confused'. She told the Daily Record: "He's come out of the coma but he doesn't know where he is or what's happened. He recognises us, but he's very confused. We've got a psychiatrist working with him but he has no comprehension of his injuries or his amputations, he's delirious. ‌ "That could be caused by trauma or an infection. Thankfully, he is receiving exceptional care from the medics here, who are doing everything they can to get him better." Willie, who has lived in Thailand for five years, is also receiving kidney dialysis following the crash. It is expected that he could remain in hospital for at least three months. ‌ June continued: "I'm not sure how long I'll stay out here for. Right now, I'm taking everything day by day. Willie will have to stay in the trauma unit for the foreseeable future before he can be moved into rehabilitation. As it stands, he cannot fly, but thankfully he's in the best hands possible." Willie will require lifetime support once he is discharged from hospital and will need to move into supported accommodation. June has now launched a fundraiser to help pay for his rehabilitation and medical bills. ‌ She continued: "Willie's road to recovery will be long and challenging. He will require 24/7 care in Bangkok, as he is unable to travel until his wounds heal. "Once he is stable, he will undergo rehabilitation and be fitted for prosthetic legs, which will help him regain his independence. With that said, we're seeking support during this difficult time." Nearly £5,000 has been raised since the fundraiser was launched earlier this month. Meanwhile, June and her family are receiving support from the British Embassy in Thailand to trace those responsible for the alleged hit and run and bring them to justice. He added: "Right now, we're receiving support from the embassy to find a lawyer who will take our case up with the police. Until then, we will be fundraising to get Willie better."
