Rueben Chinyelu to withdraw from 2025 NBA draft, return to Florida
Florida center Rueben Chinyelu will reportedly withdraw from the 2025 NBA draft and return to the program for his junior season, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
Chinyelu declared for the draft while maintaining his remaining college eligibility. He was among the prospects invited to the NBA G League Elite Camp last week, averaging 5.5 points, five rebounds, 4.5 assists and one steal in two scrimmage games in Chicago, Illinois.
The 21-year-old also had the opportunity to work out with the Portland Trail Blazers and Sacramento Kings as he tested the predraft process. After receiving feedback from teams, Chinyelu will forgo the draft and play with the Gators next season.
Chinyelu helped the Gators to their third national title, averaging six points and 6.6 rebounds on 59.9% shooting from the field in 40 games. He scored in double figures 10 times, including a season-high 19 points and 13 rebounds on Feb. 22.
With Chinyelu set to return, the Gators add another key player from their title run last season. Gators coach Todd Golden and the program also returned Thomas Haugh and will now await the decision of Alex Condon, who is also testing the predraft process.
Chinyelu will have the opportunity to play next season with the Gators and work to improve his draft stock. He will also look to help the team repeat as national champions.
