CJP for developing judicial infrastructure under citizen-centric approach
He called for the inclusion of a modern Facilitation Centre within the Judicial Complex to assist litigants and the public at large, ensuring improved access to information and services focused on facilitating litigants, lawyers, and the general public.
He, along with Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice Junaid Ghaffar, and the SHC judges – Justice Zafar Rajput and Justice Iqbal Kalhoro, met with the District and Sessions Judges of the Karachi Division at the SHC building on Monday.
During the interaction, the SHC CJ apprised the CJP Afridi regarding the proposed construction of a state-of-the-art Judicial Complex in Karachi, comprising 125 fully equipped courts along with all requisite amenities. The project is intended to address the growing needs of the judicial system in the port city and is expected to commence shortly.
The CJP welcomed the initiative and underscored the importance of sustainable, scalable, and forward-looking infrastructure planning.
He stressed that future forecasting must be integrated into the design to ensure the long-term viability of the complex. In this regard, he recommended that structured consultations be held with all relevant stakeholders—including judges and members of the district bar—to gather practical input keeping in view the technicalities so that a refined proposal may be placed before the government for timely execution.
The visit reaffirmed the judiciary's commitment to institutional development, participatory planning, and the delivery of accessible and efficient justice.

CDA chief orders third-party audit of uplift projects
ISLAMABAD: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa on Monday directed third-party audits for all ongoing development projects, and ordered expedited completion of Islamabad Model Jail, IT Facilitation Centres, electric tram feasibility, and the operationalisation of the Blue Area Food Street. The directives came during a review meeting at the CDA headquarters. The meeting was attended by senior CDA and ICT Administration officials, including Member Administration and Estate Talat Mehmood, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, Member Environment Esfandyar Baloch, and others. The meeting reviewed progress on critical infrastructure and urban uplift projects such as Shaheen Chowk, Kashmir Chowk, Faizabad Interchange, Gardenia Hub (CDA Model Nursery), Pak Secretariat uplift, modern streetlight installation, police station upgrades, Safari Park, Theme Park, cable car, ferris wheel, and dancing fountain initiatives. Randhawa also instructed a detailed financial study of all projects recently transferred from PWD to CDA, including cost assessments, fund utilisation, and quality evaluation. He tasked the Planning and Engineering Wings to develop a strategy for the timely and efficient completion of these projects. In addition, directives were issued to accelerate the rollout of electric buses, establish charging stations, enhance the solid waste management system, improve water supply across sectors, and upgrade all 279 parks in Islamabad. Gaza victims: Alkhidmat Foundation dispatches 28th consignment of aid
LAHORE: Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan has dispatched its 28th consignment of relief aid comprising 100 tons of essential supplies for the distressed families in Gaza facing an acute food crisis. The latest consignment, arranged in collaboration with the Government of Pakistan and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), was flown from Islamabad via a special aircraft to Amman, Jordan, from where it will be transported to Gaza for distribution among displaced Palestinian families. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, President of Alkhidmat Foundation Dr. Hafeez-ur-Rehman, and senior NDMA officials were present at the airport to oversee the departure of the cargo. Speaking on the occasion, Dar commended Alkhidmat's tireless efforts in Gaza and assured the Foundation of the government's full support in continuing its humanitarian operations. 'The people of Gaza are going through unimaginable suffering. We appreciate Alkhidmat's continued dedication and will extend all possible cooperation,' said the Deputy Prime Minister. According to Dr. Hafeez-ur-Rehman, the shipment includes 65 tons of canned food, 20 tons of powdered milk for children, 5 tons of biscuits, and 10 tons of essential medicines. He noted that Alkhidmat has been actively involved in Gaza's relief efforts for the past 22 months, dispatching thousands of tons of aid via multiple air and sea consignments. 'Out of the 28 consignments sent so far, 24 have been transported via air cargo and 4 by sea. The aid has included food, cooked meals, meat, medicines, tents, and other essential supplies,' said Dr. Rehman. Alkhidmat maintains a field office in Cairo, Egypt, to coordinate ongoing relief efforts. On-ground operations inside Gaza include the distribution of cooked meals, clean drinking water, and critical medical supplies. Affordable electricity for public top priority: minister
KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Energy Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has stated that the Sindh government is taking serious steps to provide low-cost and environmentally friendly energy to the people. He expressed these views during a demonstration organised by a private company at the Energy Department office where solar home systems, solar inverters with lithium batteries, and solar panels were showcased. Also present were the Secretary of the Energy Department, CEO of STDC, MD of Thar Coal Energy Board, and other relevant officials. The Minister noted that the Sindh government established the province's first power plant under a Public-Private Partnership, and the electricity produced by this plant remains cheaper than electricity from other sources. This electricity is being delivered to relevant entities through the Sindh Transmission and Dispatch Company (STDC). He added that two solar parks have recently been completed in Sindh, and electricity from these projects will also be provided at the lowest possible tariff. The purpose of these initiatives, he said, is to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and provide consumers relief from high electricity costs. Nasir Hussain Shah stated, 'We are closely monitoring the basis on which companies are determining electricity tariffs. Our position is clear: instead of expensive electricity generated from fossil fuels, we must transition to solar and hybrid sources.'
