Air India chief visits A'bad crash site, meets PM
Ahmedabad: A day after the Air India Flight AI171 crashed in Ahmedabad soon after take-off, Air India MD and CEO, Campbell Wilson, visited the crash site on Thursday morning. Wilson also visited the BJ Medical College where several injured were being treated. "This morning, I visited the crash site, and was deeply moved by the scenes. I also met key stakeholders in the govt and assured them that Air India is committed to full cooperation with those working on the ground and to the investigations. We know that the investigations will take time but we will be fully transparent and will support the process for as long as it takes," Wilson said in a statement. The Air India chief took stock of the damage and ongoing recovery efforts, even as teams from the airline remained stationed on the ground. "Air India's advanced team of nearly 100 caregivers and 40 engineering staff has now arrived in Ahmedabad. The technical team is now helping at the site and our caregivers are providing support to families. We have set up Friends and Relatives Assistance Centres at Ahmedabad Mumbai Delhi and London Gatwick airports for the next of kin and passengers and our crew members," the Air India chief stated. Jhansi: The 15-day long campaign aimed at enlightening the farmers of Bundelkhand with new technologies and technical knowhow to increase their crop productivity, organised by ICAR-Central Agroforestry Research Institute, concluded here on Thursday. During a press brief held here on Friday, principal scientist CAFRI RP Dwivedi said that the main objective of the campaign, termed 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan-2025', was to reach farmers before the monsoon, equipping them with technical knowledge. The initiative also sought to create awareness about various govt schemes, promote good agricultural practices, and encourage active farmer participation. According to Dwivedi, The campaign's focus rested on improving farmers' understanding through field demonstrations, direct interactions, and expert consultations over a period of fifteen days, he said and added the key goals of the campaign included dissemination of information on improved agricultural methods, adoption of modern technologies suitable for Kharif crops, promoting crop selection using soil health cards, and ensuring the efficient use of approved inputs. Principal Scientist AK Handa said that during the campaign, a team of seventeen scientists along with technical staff from CAFRI visited ninety villages in the region and conducted awareness and outreach activities.
