Dakota Johnson reveals dating ‘non-negotiable' after Chris Martin split

News.com.au2 days ago

Dakota Johnson, who recently split from Chris Martin, has a no 'a**hole' dating policy.
On Monday, the actress and her Materialists co-star Chris Evans stopped by the US Today show, where host Craig Melvin asked, 'If either of you were to engage with a real-life matchmaker, what would be one non-negotiable for you?'
After Evans explained that his prospective partner 'must love dogs,' Johnson issued her scathing response.
'Like, not an a**hole,' she blurted out, which elicited a laugh from both the audience and those on set with her.
'That's concise,' Evans, 43, said with a chuckle. 'There it is! Nail on the head.'
Last Wednesday, Johnson, 35, hinted in an interview with the Los Angeles Times that she and Martin, 48, had parted ways.
Asked what made her role in Materialists 'feel different for her,' she replied, 'The complexities of all of the characters. The paradox. Everyone being confused about what the f**k they're supposed to do with their hearts and what's the right move. I found that very honest, and I found it just so relatable.'
She continued, 'For a long time, we've all been so quick to judge relationships or how they should happen, how they should exist in the world, when people should get married, divorce is bad. All these things that actually, if you think about it, why is divorce bad? Why do people have to get married or at a certain age or only once? Why? It doesn't matter.'
Hours later, People reported that Johnson and Martin — who dated on and off for nearly eight years — had broken up for good, with a source claiming, 'It feels final this time.'
Johnson then stepped out sans engagement ring, which Page Six was previously told Martin gave her about two years into their relationship.
According to the US Sun, the movie star and the musician — who shares daughter Apple, 21, and son Moses, 19, with his ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow — called it quits for two main reasons: their age gap and the topic of kids.
'They really tried to work through their issues, but the age gap was often a problem,' a source told the outlet.
'She'd [also] expressed that she may want children in the future, whereas Chris is kind of done with that part of his life,' the source added, making sure to note that there was not a lack of love between the two.
In fact, Martin showed he still cares for his former flame when he ended a Coldplay concert over the weekend by telling the audience, 'Thank you so much, everybody. Be kind to yourself. Be kind to each other. Don't forget to see Materialists. We love you.'

Naomi Watts' daughter reveals struggles with her identity

Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber's trans daughter, Kai, always had a vision for her future. 'I want to be a supermodel. Period,' Kai, 16, said in a Q&A with Interview Magazine published Wednesday when asked to share her dream career. 'I've been practising my walks in the kitchen for years; my mum can show you all the videos I forced her to film,' she continued. 'Struggling with gender identity from a young age most likely had something to do with it.' The teenager added, 'I always wanted to grow up and be a beautiful, glamorous, influential woman, like Marilyn.' Kai also told Interview that she looks up to 'the older generation of transgender people.' 'People like Alex Consani, Hunter Schafer, Hari Nef, Dara, Richie Shazam, Colin Jones, and so many more,' she said, listing her fashion role models. 'It's so great that there's a strong community of us in the fashion world; it's really a doll takeover.' Kai, who is the second child of Watts and Schreiber, made her runway debut for Valentino at Paris Fashion Week in March. The following month, the model appeared in the fashion brand's chic pre-fall campaign — with her mum celebrating the achievement on social media. 'Congratulations @kaischreiberrr — so exciting!! ï¸,' the King Kong actress, 56, gushed on Instagram, adding, 'Beaming with pride.' Last month, Schreiber discussed Kai's transgender identity publicly for the first time in an interview with Variety. 'Kai was always who Kai is,' the Perfect Couple actor, 57, told the outlet. 'But I suppose the most profound moment was her asking us to change her pronouns,' he explained. 'To be honest with you, it didn't feel like that big of a deal to me only because Kai had been so feminine for so long.' He described his fashionable daughter as being 'as feisty and outspoken as they come.' 'Kai is such a fighter,' he added. 'It's important that she goes, 'Hey, I am trans,' and, 'Look at me.'' Schreiber and Watts began their relationship in 2005 — welcoming son Sasha in 2007 followed by Kai in 2008. The former couple split in 2016 after 11 years together, but they've continued to amicably co-parent their children. The blended family came together for Sasha's graduation last week, with Watts' husband, Billy Crudup, and Schreiber's wife, Taylor Neisen, in attendance. This story originally appeared on Page Six

After Wilson's family announced on Wednesday that he had died at the age of 82, The Beach Boys shared a sweet tribute to the musician. "The world mourns a genius today, and we grieve for the loss of our cousin, our friend, and our partner in a great musical adventure," the band began the caption, sharing a vintage photo of Wilson alongside it. Together, we gave the world the American dream of optimism, joy, and a sense of freedom-music that made people feel good, made them believe in summer and endless possibilities."

Bryce Dallas Howard gets brutally honest about her most notorious move flops: ‘You always know'

Hollywood star Bryce Dallas Howard has opened up about some of her most notorious box office flops. Despite starring in the likes of Twilight and Jurrasic Park, Howard has also starred in projects that became some of their respective years' biggest bombs. She starred in Lady in the Water from director M. Night Shyamalan, which failed to recoup its $154m budget, as well as notorious flop Argylle, which cost over $300m to make but didn't manage to even hit $150m at the box office. 'You can always see it coming while you're making it,' Howard recently told The Independent about her movie flops. 'I've never been shocked when something doesn't work. But I'm just an actor – you're there to serve a director's vision. If a movie doesn't turn out the way that you envisioned, you can barely feel disappointed because it's not yours. You're not the person who's building the thing.' Howard said in comparison, she has seen her father, the Oscar-winning filmmaker Ron Howard, break down emotionally when one of his films doesn't do well. 'It blows him away that I don't do that,' she said. She went on to recall a story her father told her about Clint Eastwood back in the day. When her dad's 1992 film Far and Away with Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise flopped spectacularly at the box office, he turned to Eastwood for some sage advice. 'He said, 'Ronnie – a career is like a season of television. You've got 24 episodes, some of the episodes are going to be bad, some are going to be serviceable, maybe a little forgettable, and maybe five of those episodes are going to be really strong and last,'' Howard said. Argylle, from filmmaker Matthew Vaughn, starred the likes of Henry Cavill and Dua Lipa, but their combined starpower failed to help make the film a hit. In an interview with Empire last year, Vaughn confessed that he genuinely believed the movie was going to be a big success after test screenings ended positively. 'F**k yeah,' Vaughn said when asked if the disappointing reviews from critics were a difficult read for him. 'We had done test screenings that had gone fantastically well. The premiere was a really fun night, and it was like going back to the 'Snatch' days where there was such excitement. And I started drinking the Kool-Aid. It's a fun, feel-good movie, or I thought it was a fun, feel-good movie. We didn't make 'Citizen Kane,' but f**king hell, then the reviews came out and I'm like, 'Wait, what have I done to offend these people?' They were vitriolic. I'm not saying the movie's perfect by any means, but I didn't think it was offensive. That took me by surprise.'
