Sabrina Carpenter's New Album ‘Man's Best Friend' Sets August Release Date

Yahoo5 days ago

Sabrina Carpenter has announced a new album called, 'Man's Best Friend,' due out Aug. 29. The Grammy winner revealed these details on Wednesday morning during an Instagram Live where she was rifling through a stack of records by Donna Summer, ABBA and Dolly Parton, before landing on her own.
The teaser quickly revealed the album's artwork, which features the blonde on all fours, with someone in black slacks grabbing a handful of her hair. Carpenter released the album's lead single, 'Manchild,' which was written by her and frequent collaborators Jack Antonoff and Amy Allen, last week. It quickly rose to No. 1 on both the Spotify U.S. and Spotify Global charts after arriving alongside a cinematic music video directed Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia.

'Man's Best Friend' will be Carpenter's seventh studio album and will be released almost exactly one year after the release of her chart-topping, 'Short n' Sweet' record, which was released last August. All three singles off the latter album, 'Espresso,' 'Please Please Please,' and 'Taste,' entered the coveted Billions Club on Spotify. 'Short n' Sweet' sold 10 million albums globally, and earned Carpenter six Grammy nods as a first-time nomine. She took home the 'Best Pop Vocal Album' award and 'Best Pop Solo Performance' for 'Espresso.'
This fall, Carpenter will be back on the road for a second sold-out North American leg of her 'Short n' Sweet' tour. The trek kicks off on Oct. 23 in Pittsburgh and will stop at major arenas in New York, Nashville, Toronto and Los Angeles. She will perform five nights at Madison Square Garden in New York and six nights at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, where the tour will conclude on Nov. 23.

Sabrina Carpenter Assures Fans That Daddy Will Punish Her For Album Cover

LOS ANGELES—Faced with criticism after posting the suggestive cover of her forthcoming album Man's Best Friend , pop star Sabrina Carpenter released a statement Monday assuring her fans that Daddy will punish her over it. 'To any of my fans who were offended by the provocative album artwork, please know that I will be appropriately disciplined by Daddy for being a bad, bad girl,' said the 26-year-old 'Espresso' singer, sharing that Daddy had already threatened to lock her in the naughty cage and throw away the key. 'Daddy gets very angry with me when I disobey his orders not to engage in PR stunts, but I just couldn't help myself, and I deserve to be spanked. I hope the young girls who look up to me know that misbehaving leads to a lesson from Daddy using the flogger. I promise it won't happen again without Daddy's permission.' At press time, Carpenter confirmed she was getting excited just thinking about begging for Daddy's forgiveness.

Cher's son Elijah Allman hospitalized after erratic behavior, officials say

Elijah Allman, son of pop icon Cher and songwriter Gregg Allman, landed in the hospital this weekend after law enforcement responded to a report of a man 'acting erratically' in a home in the Mojave Desert. Deputies with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department on Saturday responded to the residence in the unincorporated community of Landers where Allman, 48, 'was being evaluated by emergency medical personnel,' officials said in a statement shared with People. Deputies also 'located drugs inside the home' and the musicians' son was transported to a hospital. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, which did not immediately respond on Monday to The Times' request for comment and additional information, said it is investigating the incident. The statement did not reveal whether drug use led to Allman's hospitalization but TMZ, which broke the news, reported he overdosed earlier Saturday morning. A source told the outlet Allman is 'receiving the best care possible' and 'lucky to have survived.' A representative for Cher did not immediately respond to The Times' request for comment and an inquiry about Allman's condition. Marieangela King, Allman's estranged wife, expressed support for her husband and spoke about his 'unwavering commitment to sobriety and his loyalty to those he loves' in a statement to People. She acknowledged that her spouse has 'faced personal challenges in the past.' 'Like many, he continues to confront his inner struggles — but it is important to recognize that he does so from a place of strength, not defeat,' she added. 'Despite the assumptions that often color how his journey is portrayed, the reality is that Elijah remains grounded, focused and deeply committed to living with integrity and purpose.' Allman has been open about his struggles with sobriety in the past, telling Entertainment Tonight in a 2014 interview that his drug addiction began before he was even a teenager. 'I mean it's just what you did, it's just what everyone did,' he told Rob Marciano at the time. 'I [was] just looking to escape all the things in my past and that's when you turn to those kind of drugs, you know heroin and opiates,' he said in 2014. He also recalled 'some close calls and some moments of really feeling at the edge of mortality.' Details of his alleged drug use also surfaced in December 2023 when his mother filed her bid for conservatorship to take over his finances. The Grammy-winning 'Believe' singer alleged at the time that her son was 'substantially unable to manage his own financial resources due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues.' Cher ended her conservatorship bid less than a year later, dismissing her petition in September 2024. King filed a petition to divorce Allman in Los Angeles in April, citing 'irreconcilable differences.' The couple, who married in December 2013, was previously headed for divorce when Allman filed a petition in 2021. In January 2024, he filed to dismiss that case without prejudice. Amid their ongoing relationship tensions, King underscored in her weekend statement, 'I will always root for him. 'My support is steadfast and comes from a place of deep respect for the person he is and the resilience he continues to show,' King said.

Billy Joel is ‘not dying' with brain disorder, says Howard Stern

Billy Joel doesn't want fans to worry about his well-being after he canceled all upcoming concerts, including a Bay Area show with Stevie Nicks, due to ongoing health difficulties. Media personality Howard Stern revealed that he had dinner with the musician a few weeks ago during an episode of SiriusXM's 'The Howard Stern Show' and shared an important update from the 'Piano Man' himself. 'He said to me — so I'm not saying anything crazy — 'Yeah, you can tell people: I'm not dying,'' Stern said in the episode, which aired on Tuesday, June 3. 'He wants people to know that. He's got to deal with some medical stuff. But he was delightful. We had a great time with the wives.' Joel has been married to Alexis Roderick since 2015. The Grammy winner, 76, shared with fans last month that he has been living with normal pressure hydrocephalus, a brain disorder caused by excess cerebrospinal fluid. Joel's team said in a statement that he had been faced with 'hearing, vision and balance' issues due to the disorder, and that live performances had been worsening the condition. Following his doctor's orders, Joel's team said the musician is undergoing physical therapy and has been advised to hold off performing as he recovers. He subsequently canceled all of his scheduled shows, a total of 17, including his Santa Clara concert with Nicks on Oct. 4, which was to be part of their co-headlining One Night One Stage tour. Now, neither musician is set to perform in the South Bay in the fall. The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer's last live performance was in Connecticut on Feb. 22, where he fell on his back mid-performance after throwing his microphone stand to a crew member. He got up and finished the set but announced a month later that he'd be taking a four-month break from touring due to an undisclosed medical condition for which he had just undergone surgery. Following his announcement last month, Joel's ex-wife Christie Brinkley spoke out in support of him. 'The whole Brinkley gang is sending you lots of love and good wishes for a full and speedy recovery,' she wrote on Instagram on May 24. '(Y)ou turn an arena of strangers into a living room full of friends as we all sway in unison. … (P)lease take good care of yourself, we all want you back in that white hot spotlight. You're OUR piano man.'
