Woody Allen Compared Jeffrey Epstein to Dracula in Birthday Letter
The letter, a photocopy of which was included in a recent New York Times story about Epstein's Upper East Side townhome, recounted dinner parties that Allen and wife Soon-Yi Previn attended as neighbors. Allen said the home reminded him of 'Castle Dracula where [Bela] Lugosi has three young female vampires who service the place. Add to this that Jeffrey lives in a vast house alone, one can picture him sleeping in damp earth.'

The parties Allen mentioned were also attended by 'politicians, scientists, teachers, magicians, comedians, intellectuals, journalists, an entymologist, a concert pianist,' the filmmaker added. Nearly six years after Epstein was found dead in his jail cell, the disgraced billionaire is back in the headlines amid mounting pressure for the Trump administration to release the so-called Epstein files.
On July 17, the Wall Street Journal first revealed a birthday letter book compiled by Ghislaine Maxwell for Epstein containing messages from Donald Trump, former President Bill Clinton, fashion designer Vera Wang and billionaire Leon Black, among others. Trump then filed a $10 billion lawsuit against News Corp for defamation and named former ally Rupert Murdoch in the complaint.
The 2016 birthday letter from Allen made public by the Times will inevitably be seen against the background of Allen's sullied reputation after resurfaced allegations of sexual abuse from his adopted stepdaughter, Dylan Farrow.
The four-part HBO Allen v. Farrow docuseries featured Mia Farrow speaking publicly for the first time in decades about Allen, her former partner and collaborator, and the sexual abuse allegations that have long been leveled at him by Dylan Farrow, who also appeared in the documentary.
Allen has denied the accusations and was not charged by the Connecticut state's attorney following a 1993 investigation.

Mayor Eric Adams, Gov. Kathy Hochul push back against Trump's threat to send National Guard to NYC
NEW YORK — Mayor Eric Adams and Gov. Kathy Hochul fended off President Donald Trump's threats of a National Guard takeover in New York City, with the governor saying Tuesday she would do 'everything in my power' to stop the feds from crossing that line. Hochul, who has used the National Guard to help patrol the MTA's subway system in the city, said that using the force to 'militarize our streets' was a step too far and an insult to the NYPD. 'I have a feeling that right around that time, my National Guard might be really busy on other issues,' she said at an unrelated press conference in Queens when asked if she would direct the officers to ignore a possible Trump deployment. The president announced on Monday he put the Washington, D.C. police department under federal control to 'take our capital back,' and then said he'd also 'look at other cities,' naming New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Baltimore and Oakland. 'We don't need anyone to come in and take over our law enforcement apparatus,' Adams said at a press conference in the Bronx on Tuesday morning. 'We have the finest police department on the globe.' Trump invoked a federal override possible under D.C. laws. Using federal troops in local law enforcement other cities, including New York, raises legal questions, and the legality of their deployment is currently on trial in California. While Adams said the recent Midtown shooting 'sends a signal' that crime is a problem in the city, that perception doesn't match up with the data. 'Those headlines give the wrong impression,' the mayor said. 'New York is moving in the right direction in public safety.' City officials have touted low crime numbers this summer, including drops in murders and gun violence, as well as the overall crime rate. Adams did note that the federal government could help fight crime in the city with tighter gun laws or federal grants. 'If the federal government wants to assist us in really navigating some of the laws around easily accessibility to automatic weapons… there is some assistance we can get from the federal government,' he said. The mayor said that his public safety deputy, Kaz Daughtry, has been in 'continuous communications' about public safety, including with the feds. Daughtry, along with NYPD Chief John Chell, met with Trump at a New Jersey golf course in June. Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, who this week has a slate of anti-Trump campaign events across the city, said that he would resist Trump's attempts to interfere with the city. 'Donald Trump is not above the law and if he comes for New York City, he will have to go through me,' Mamdani said in a statement on Tuesday. 'As Mayor, I will not downplay or enable his authoritarianism — and I certainly will not tell New Yorkers not to 'overreact' as Andrew Cuomo did when Trump's militia tried to bulldoze Los Angeles.' Mamdani said at a press conference in Brooklyn earlier Tuesday that he's willing to work with the president in good faith even as he remains strenuously opposed to his immigration and economic agendas. 'If Donald Trump wants to pick up the phone and say that he wants to deliver on the cheaper groceries that he ran on, I'm willing to work with him on that,' Mamdani said. 'It just can never be a partnership at the expense of the people of this city.' Former governor Andrew Cuomo, who's running for mayor on an independent line, said Monday on social media that Trump would 'flatten [Mamdani] like a pancake.' 'What you're seeing in D.C. today is exactly what will happen if @ZohranKMamdani becomes Mayor,' he said on X. ---------- —With Chris Sommerfeldt and Cayla Bamberger _____

Lara Trump: Democrats Have Once Again Found Themselves On The Wrong Side Of A Basic Common-Sense Issue
Lara Trump, host of 'My View with Lara Trump' joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to shed light on the necessity of President Trump's recently announced plan to get crime in Washington D.C. under control. 'We all, no matter our politics, want a safe place for our families, want to safe place to live and exist. And, you sadly have had so many of these Democrat policies that have taken that ability away where you have, it seems like, people in this country who are four criminals, who are four folks who break the law, whether we're talking about other southern border, whether we are talking about people who are going in and wiping out full shelves in CVS and Dwayne Reeds in New York City, you can't even get a deodorant in New York city without having someone have to ring a bell and have somebody come open up with a key the little plastic thing, it's crazy. But this is what these kind of nonsensical policies have gotten the American people. It doesn't make sense. It is opposite of what we want. We all want safety, we all want security, we all wanna place where we can feel good about raising our families, where we send the kids out to play cops and robbers. And the whole thing, it's sad that we have to address it the way that we're doing now, but at least we have a president who has recognized what a fundamental quality this isto your quality of life, to your American dream and your ability to achieve that. Without safety and security, nothing else matters, and it's so foundational. Thank God for President Trump, and I'm personally looking forward to going back to our United States Capitol, feeling great about walking around Washington, D.C. Maybe, heck, I'll even take my kids out for a little stroll. We don't know what could happen. Let's not get crazy.' Lara Trump On How Gavin Newsom Has Completely Deserted His State Lara and Jimmy also talk about New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani's socialist policy proposals, and how they would impact the Big Apple. Russia Is Suspected to Be Behind Breach of Federal Court Filing System
Investigators have uncovered evidence that Russia is at least in part responsible for a recent hack of the computer system that manages federal court documents, including highly sensitive records that might contain information that could reveal sources and people charged with national security crimes, according to several people briefed on the breach. It is not clear what entity is responsible, whether an arm of Russian intelligence might be behind the intrusion or if other countries were also involved, which some of the people familiar with the matter described as a yearslong effort to infiltrate the system. Some of the searches included midlevel criminal cases in the New York City area and several other jurisdictions, with some cases involving people with Russian and Eastern European surnames. The disclosure comes as President Trump is expected to meet with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir V. Putin, in Alaska on Friday, where Mr. Trump is planning to discuss his push to end the war in Ukraine. Administrators with the court system recently informed Justice Department officials, clerks and chief judges in federal courts that 'persistent and sophisticated cyber threat actors have recently compromised sealed records,' according to an internal department memo and reviewed by The New York Times. The administrators also advised those officials to quickly remove the most sensitive documents from the system. 'This remains an URGENT MATTER that requires immediate action,' officials wrote, referring to guidance that the Justice Department had issued in early 2021 after the system was first infiltrated. Documents related to criminal activity with an overseas tie, across at least eight district courts, were initially believed to have been targeted. Last month, the chief judges of district courts across the country were quietly warned to move those kinds of cases off the regular document-management system, according to officials briefed on the request. They were initially told not to discuss the matter with other judges in their districts. Want all of The Times? Subscribe.
