After the successful commercial operation of the project, 71.1 GhW of cheap electricity will be generated annually and added to the national grid. An agreement has already been signed with PESCO in August for the purchase of electricity generated from the project. The project will generate an annual revenue of Rs405 million for the province.
Special Assistant to Chief Minister Energy & Power Tariq Sadozai, Secretary Energy & Power Muhammad Zubair Khan and Chief Executive PEDO Irfanullah Khan termed the successful completion of the project as a significant development.
After obtaining approval from federal institutions - PESCO, NEPRA, CPPAG and NTDC - under difficult circumstances, the project has been successfully completed, they maintained.
Moreover, they termed the Jabori Hydropower Project as a milestone for the development of the energy sector in the province and reiterated their resolve to complete more hydropower projects.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday emphasized the importance of strengthening political, economic, and cultural ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh, reaffirming Pakistan's commitment to expanding trade and enhancing people-to-people connections with its neighbor. Both leaders expressed confidence that their collaborative efforts would yield positive progress in Pakistan-Bangladesh relations during Khan's tenure. Separately, Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik met with the prime minister to discuss matters of mutual interest. The two reviewed key issues related to the Petroleum Division in detail, according to officials. In another meeting, Minister for Power Awais Leghari called on the prime minister to discuss developments pertaining to the Power Division. PESCO launches Pension Management System
PESHAWAR: In a major step towards digital transformation and transparency, the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has launched it's first-ever PESCO Pension Management System (PPMS); a comprehensive software solution in-house. The software was developed by Arif Hameed, Assistant Manager ERP under the leadership of Finance Director PESCO, Yasir Naseem, according to a statement here on Wednesday. This landmark development replaces the company's manual pension system, ensuring swift, transparent, and hassle-free processing of pension cases. The PPMS will significantly reduce the processing time for pension applications, eliminating long-standing delays and challenges faced by pensioners under the old system. Recognizing this achievement, Chairman PESCO Board of Directors, Himayatullah Khan, commended Arif Hameed for his outstanding contribution and awarded him a Certificate of Appreciation. Board Member Fazal-e-Khaliq also presented him with an Honorary Shield as a token of recognition for his commendable efforts. With this initiative, PESCO became the first power distribution company to introduce a comprehensive digital pension management system, setting a new benchmark in public service efficiency and digital transformation within the power sector. This software will manage the complete pension process from initial case preparation to final payment and monthly pension disbursements processed through PPMS eliminate the risk of duplicate payments. It will provide one-click access to detailed payment records for transparency and audit readiness and will automatically make calculations and ensure compliance with pension regulations for all case types. Pesco says losses cut by Rs22bn in FY24-25
PESHAWAR: Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) claimed to have reduced its financial losses by Rs 22 billion in the fiscal year 2024-25 — the first significant improvement in the last five years. This remarkable turnaround is the result of bold reforms and strong administrative measures under the visionary leadership of Chairman/ BOD Members Pesco, according to a statement issued here. According to official figures, Pesco had been facing consistent financial setbacks over the past several years. Financial losses had escalated from Rs 42 billion in FY 2020-21 to Rs 77 billion in 2021-22, Rs 109 billion in 2022-23, and reached an alarming Rs 142 billion in 2023-24. However, the appointment of the new Board of Directors brought a wave of strategic changes. By the end of FY 2024-25, financial losses were successfully brought down to Rs 122 billion — reflecting a savings of Rs 22 billion as compared to fiscal year 2023-24 for the company. Chairman Pesco Board of Directors, Himayatullah Khan, commended Pesco management for their tireless efforts in steering the company toward financial recovery. 'Despite having only 43% of the required human resource to serve 4.5 million consumers, Pesco employees have continued to go above and beyond to serve their communities,' said the chairman BoD. Moreover, Pesco has achieved a noticeable reduction in transmission and distribution (T&D) losses — bringing the figure down to 36.81 percent in the current fiscal year from 37.99 percent in the previous year. Simultaneously, the overall Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses have been reduced to 41.62 percent during FY 2024-25 in comparison to 42.81 percent in FY 2023-24.
