His Excellency Eng. Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs, received His Excellency Mr. Andrea Catalano, Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
At the outset of the meeting, Minister Al Mubarak welcomed the Italian Ambassador, affirming the strength of the friendly relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Italian Republic. He highlighted the continuous development of bilateral ties and the mutual commitment to expanding cooperation in various fields, particularly in municipal and agricultural sectors, through the exchange of expertise and experiences.
For his part, Ambassador Catalano expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Minister for the warm welcome and keen interest in further strengthening bilateral relations. He also conveyed his hopes for Bahrain's continued progress and prosperity.

Minister Khalaf said the Kingdom was committed to aligning employment policies with legal protections and social justice, in line with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. 'Safeguarding workers' rights and promoting decent jobs are not just values, they are engines of development,' H.E. the minister said, reflecting on the conference theme, 'Forging the Link Between Jobs, Rights, and Economic Growth.' Integrated reforms H.E. the minister outlined a series of reforms and legal initiatives underway in Bahrain to protect trade union freedoms, support social dialogue, and strengthen workplace safety. The Minister drew attention to Bahrain's Tier 1 status in the US Department of State's Trafficking in Persons Report for the seventh consecutive year, calling it an international recognition of the Kingdom's effective and proactive efforts to combat exploitation. His Excellency Khalaf also noted the complete absence of child labour in the Kingdom, the country's anti-discrimination protections, and the rollout of updated occupational health and safety standards. Youth and women H.E. Also stressed that Bahrain's labour vision also prioritises inclusion, with programmes aimed at increasing youth participation in the labour market and promoting the advancement of women in the workforce. Khalaf praised the report by ILO Director-General Gilbert F. Houngbo and echoed its call to see workers' rights as integral to economic resilience.

Italy marks Republic Day with reception in Manama

The Embassy of Italy in Bahrain held a reception to mark the 79th anniversary of the Italian Republic, attended by ministers, diplomats and senior government figures. Among the guests were Justice Minister, His Excellency Nawaf Al Ma'awda, Sustainable Development Minister Noor Al Khulaif, and the President of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) H.E. Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa. Also present were H.E. Ambassador Dr Shaikha Munira bint Khalifa bin Hamad Al Khalifa, director-general of the Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies, and H.E. Ambassador Shaikh Abdulla bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, who oversees bilateral affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. H.E. Italian Ambassador Andrea Catalano welcomed those in attendance and thanked Bahrain for its role in supporting what he described as a longstanding friendship between the two countries. 'I'm extremely honoured today to host this celebration, the 79th anniversary of the Italian Republic, here in Bahrain,' he said. 'It commemorates the friendship between our two nations, which we will work to make even stronger, building on the visit of Prime Minister Meloni to the Kingdom last January and future visits we hope to see to Italy.' The reception in Manama followed a number of recent meetings and visits between Rome and Bahrain, with both sides aiming to deepen political and economic ties.
