Road widening work begins in Vemulawada
Officials issued notices to the evacuees 15 days ago to vacate their houses. Some people have gone to court seeking time by June 20, while the authorities will remove the rest of the houses. Government Whip and Vemulawada MLA Adi Srinivas told The Hans India that on November 20, under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, in the presence of 8 ministers, the foundation stone was laid for the expansion of the temple with a cost of Rs 76 crore, for the road widening with a cost of Rs 47 crore and for the construction of Anna Satram with a cost of Rs 35 crore. The town development goes on in accordance with the increasing urban population.
The MLA said he and the officials visited Sringeri Peethani 4 times to expand the Vemulawada temple in 4 acres and are moving forward with the development of the temple after taking their suggestions and advice. Better facilities will be provided to the devotees of Rajanna who come from other states as well as from our own state so that they can have a quick darshan, he said.
On the occasion of the road expansion from Vemulawada Tippapur Bridge to Sri Rajarajeshwara Swamy Temple, Collector Sandeep Kumar Jha and Vemulawada RDO Radhabai distributed cheques to 20 displaced persons who are parting with their lands.

The Punjab Government on Tuesday suspended eight panchayat secretaries in Tarn Taran district following the alleged embezzlement of Rs 18-crore panchayat funds involving the brother of a leader of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party. In July, Rahul Sindhu, Deputy Commissioner, Tarn Taran, recommended 'strong action' against 10 panchayat secretaries for failing to provide records required to investigate the alleged embezzlement. The Indian Express reported in September 2024 that Baljeet Singh, brother of AAP leader Ranjit Singh Cheema, was accused of siphoning off funds through Cowberry AGROVET OPC Private Limited, which was engaged in the cattle feed and water coolers businesses. He was enlisted as a contractor with the water resources department in 2023 after his brother became chairman of the Punjab Water Resources Management and Development Corporation. The investigation was started on a complaint filed by RTI activist Jaskirat Singh Sidhu, alleging that funds were released for projects in villages under the Khadoor Sahib constituency, but the work was either incomplete or never started. However, the investigation couldn't progress as the panchayat secretaries declined to provide records pertaining to alleged irregularities in projects worth over Rs 85 lakh executed between June and August 2024. The deputy commissioner's letter had named several panchayat secretaries, stating that they did not submit the required documents, thereby hindering the investigation. Payara Singh, District Development and Panchayat Officer, said, 'They have been suspended because they didn't provide the records needed for the investigation. Now, further inquiry will be conducted on where the records are.'

Mumbai Real money gaming (RMG) platforms such as Dream11, Zupee, and Probo suspended paid contests on their respective platforms following the passing of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, by the Rajya Sabha. The Bill, which proposes jail terms of up to three years and fines of up to Rs 1 crore for anyone offering RMG services in India, also prohibits banks from working with companies providing such services. 'As unfortunate as it is, we respect the Government of India's latest Online Gaming Bill. In light of this development, Probo has decided to discontinue its real-money gaming (RMG) operations with immediate effect until further notice. We remain steadfast in our vision to innovate and build information markets from India, for the world,' the company said in a statement. Another RMG player, Zupee, confirmed that it had discontinued paid games but would continue supporting free-to-play games on its platform. 'Zupee remains fully operational, and our players can continue to enjoy their favourite games. In line with the new Online Gaming Bill 2025, we are discontinuing paid games, but our hugely popular free titles like Ludo Supreme, Ludo Turbo, Snakes & Ladders, and Trump Card Mania will continue to be available for all users for free,' a company spokesperson said.
