'Super Smash Bros' Dating App Gets Bad Legal News
Saying 'I smashed' is, in one writer's humble opinion, sort of the least refined way to communicate your loins' good fortune. It seems very antiquated, very early-aughts comedy, very American Pie. But, saying it in the context of using a Super Smash Bros dating app is at least a little funnier. Unfortunately for gamers and would-be lovers, the unofficial Super Smash Bros dating app, SmashTogether, has been hit with a cease and desist before it ever really got a chance to thrive.
On May 12, 2025, the app creators announced on X that SmashTogehter was entering open beta, and would be public on May 15. Exciting! A matchmaking algorithm rooted in all participants' love of Mario, Luigi, and the whole gang. But, on May 14, a post on X simply said 'We got cease and desisted.'
For right now, that's all we know about the situation. Based on the graphic design alone, it doesn't seem like the fledgling dating app really has the money to fund a major fight against a cease and desist. It was likely filed by the owner of Super Smash Bros, Nintendo, a company notorious for aggressive protection of its copyrights.
So for those of you looking for love online, it's probably not going to be happening on Smash Together. But you can always put 'looking for my Doubles partner' in your bio on literally any other app.

New Footage Confirms the Switch 2 Versions of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Run at 60 FPS
We've long since known that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were on the list to receive a Switch 2 performance upgrade. Now, players have their first look at how these games play on the new console, via Nintendo Today, the Switch 2 news app. There's no way to embed the video in this article -- Switch 2 footage is locked down on Nintendo Today -- but the Wario64 BlueSky account shared a 33-second-long recording of the footage that you can view here. The showcase confirms that Scarlet and Violet will run at 4k/60 FPS on the Switch 2, at least while it's docked. It's a refreshing switch-up for the generation nine Pokemon games, which are among some of the best Pokemon games of all time, but are hampered by a slew of performance issues. Nintendo included shots of key in-game locations such as the Pokemon Academy in Mesagoza and Casseroya Lake. On the original Switch hardware, the frame rate would frequently tank anywhere between 20 and 30 FPS when exploring these areas. The Switch 2 footage shows the game maintaining a smooth 60 FPS with no visual stutters no matter where the player is exploring. The art style for the game remains largely unchanged, with wild Pokemon plodding around mostly flat textures on the overworld. But when it comes to Scarlet and Violet's performance issues, the Switch 2 seems to be making a big leap in the right direction. The Switch 2 officially launches on Thursday so you won't have to wait very long to explore a more-optimized version of the Paldea region. If an upgraded version of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet can't sate your pocket-monster collecting urges, Pokemon Legends: Z-A will launch for the Switch and the Switch 2 on Oct. 16.

Nintendo Warns Users Not To Remove Protective Foreskin From Switch 2
REDMOND, WA—Issuing a warning before the console's highly anticipated launch this week, Nintendo announced Tuesday that users of the Switch 2 should not remove its protective foreskin. 'When unwrapping your new Switch 2, please be careful not to peel off the device's highly sensitive frenulum,' said Nintendo spokesperson Jason Knight, explaining that the thin, retractable skin fold contained tens of thousands of nerve endings, and severing them amounted to 'console mutilation.' 'While some prefer the look of a circumcised Switch, the foreskin greatly enhances gameplay. Peeling off your console's foreskin can lead to decreased sensation, reduced enjoyment, and difficulties with button function. Sadly, playing Mario , Zelda , or Animal Crossing will never feel the same.' The spokesperson added that anyone who had inadvertently removed their Switch 2's foreskin could buy a set of weighted attachments from Nintendo to help grow back the sheath of skin.

Nvidia's Jensen Huang says Nintendo Switch 2 has dedicated AI processors
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang on Tuesday talked up the capabilities of Nintendo's new Switch 2, days before the long-awaited console is set to hit store shelves. In a video posted by Nintendo, Huang called the chip inside the Switch 2 "unlike anything we've built before." "It brings together three breakthroughs: The most advanced graphics ever in a mobile device, full hardware ray tracing, high dynamic range for brighter highlights and deeper shadows, and an architecture that supports backward compatibility," Huang said. He added that the console has dedicated AI processors to "sharpen, animate and enhance gameplay in real time." Huang's comments come as Nintendo prepares to release the Switch 2 on Thursday. The Switch 2 is Nintendo's first new console in eight years, and it's expected to be a bigger and faster version of its predecessor. The device costs $449.99. Huang also paid tribute to the vision of former Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata, who died before the original Switch was released. "Switch 2 is more than a new consul," Huang said. "It's a new chapter worthy of Iwata Son's vision."
