Tata Steel aims to have 20 pc diversity workforce by 2028
Tata Steel's progressive HR policies offer equal benefits for LGBTQIA+ partners, gender-neutral parental leaves, support for gender transition, and inclusive relocation and travel benefits, it said.
For Tata Steel, the commitment to diversity goes beyond policy implementation. It actively seeks to redefine norms in typically male-dominated sectors, the company said in a statement.
Jamshedpur, Jun 28 (PTI) Commemorating a decade of MOSAIC, the diversity and inclusion initiative, private steel major Tata Steel on Saturday said it aimed to have 20 per cent diversity in its workforce across the group by 2028.
About MOSAIC, the company said it started in 2015 with the vision of making inclusion a lived experience across the organisation. This year, the company is marking a decade of MOSAIC alongside pride month, reinforcing its continued commitment to building a more inclusive workplace.
MOSAIC, which is anchored in five strategic pillars – recruitment, sensitisation, retention & development, infrastructure, and celebration, addresses the unique needs of diverse communities, including women, persons with disabilities, the LGBTQIA+ community, and affirmative action groups.
Atrayee Sanyal, Chief People Officer, Tata Steel, said: 'For over a century, Tata Steel has been a pioneer in people-centric HR policies, consistently evolving with the times to stay not only relevant but also purpose-driven. Our commitment has always been to foster a more equitable and inclusive workplace – one where individuals are valued for who they are and empowered to contribute meaningfully.
'At the heart of our approach lies a deep belief in diversity and in creating an ecosystem where everyone can thrive and bring their best, most creative selves to work. This year, as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of MOSAIC – our diversity and inclusion journey that began in 2015 – we do so with even greater clarity, conviction, and commitment than when we first set out,' it said.
Since its launch a decade ago, MOSAIC has shaped several transformative inclusion efforts across Tata Steel. These included the Women of Mettle scholarship (2017), Women@Mines (2019), Queerious – a case study competition for LGBTQIA+ students, and the integration of transgender Heavy Earth Moving Machineries (HEMM) operators at its mines (2021).
In 2023, the company introduced Ananta Quest for students with disabilities and onboarded its first batch of female firefighter trainees. Most recently, in 2024, Tata Steel operationalised India's first all-women mining shift at Noamundi..
These initiatives have helped break industry stereotypes and foster a workplace where inclusion is embedded in everyday practices—allowing every individual to thrive, contribute, and grow without barriers. PTI BS RG

Meesho gets nod from shareholders to raise ₹4,250 crore through IPO
Meesho IPO: E-commerce startup Meesho has got the green light from its shareholders to raise ₹ 4,250 crore through an initial public offering, according to the regulatory filings of the company. As per a report by PTI that has cited the regulatory filings, the resolution for IPO was passed in the Extraordinary General Meeting on June 25. The shareholders approved raising up to ₹ 4,250 crore through issuance of fresh equities, the filing dated June 27 showed. 'The proposed offering will include a fresh issue of equity shares aggregating up to ₹ 4,250 crore and an offer for sale of equity shares by certain existing shareholders of the company,' the filing said, according to the report. However, the final size of the IPO could only be finalised after the company files its DRHP with SEBI. This step confirms Meesho's plans to float an IPO soon. The next step is to file its draft papers with markets regulator SEBI, whose approval is required in order to raise the funds through the public offering route. As per a report by The Economic Times, Meesho plans to file its Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) with the SEBI through the confidential route. The shareholders also approved a change in designation of Meesho Co-Founder and CEO Vidit Aatrey as chairman and managing director of the company, as per the report. Meesho IPO approval from shareholders comes after the company completed its domicile shift to India from the US. As per another PTI report on June 23 quoting sources, the SoftBank-backed company shifted its domicile to India as part of its plan for public listing in the country. Meesho has merged its Delaware-based entity Meesho Inc. with its Indian arm, which has been approved by the National Company Law Tribunal, Bengaluru bench, a regulatory filing showed. The company filing showed that the transaction pertaining to Meesho Limited is related to a 'merger involving a foreign company'. As per a certificate of incorporation issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on May 13, Meesho changed the name of Fashnear Technologies Private Limited to Meesho Private Limited. The order for the merger of Meesho Inc. with Indian entity Fashnear was passed by the tribunal on May 27, PTI reported. India bans imports of certain jute, other items from Bangladesh through land routes
The goods under these curbs include jute products, flax tow and waste, jute and other bast fibres, jute, single flax yarn, single yarn of jute, multiple folded, woven fabrics or flex, and unbleached woven fabrics of jute. However, imports are allowed only through Nhava Sheva seaport in Maharashtra, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification. New Delhi, Jun 27 (PTI) India on Friday banned imports of certain jute products and woven fabrics from Bangladesh through all land routes amid strained relations between the two countries. Such port restrictions will not apply to Bangladeshi goods transiting through India to Nepal and Bhutan, it added. It further said re-exports of these products from Bangladesh to India through Nepal and Bhutan will not be allowed. 'Import from Bangladesh shall not be allowed from any land port on the India-Bangladesh border. However, it is allowed only through Nhava Sheva seaport,' the DGFT said, adding that 'imports of certain goods from Bangladesh to India are regulated with immediate effect'. Earlier in April and May, India announced similar curbs on imports from Bangladesh. On May 17, India imposed port restrictions on the import of certain goods like readymade garments and processed food items, from the neighbouring country. On April 9, India withdrew the transhipment facility it had granted to Bangladesh for exporting various items to the Middle East, Europe and various other countries except Nepal and Bhutan. These measures were announced against the backdrop of the controversial statements made by the head of Bangladesh's interim government Muhammad Yunus in China. The comments did not go down well in New Delhi. It also drew sharp reactions from political leaders in India across party lines. India-Bangladesh relations have nosedived dramatically after Yunus failed to contain attacks on minorities, especially Hindus. Bangladesh is a big competitor of India in the textile sector. The India-Bangladesh trade stood at USD 12.9 billion in 2023-24. In 2024-25, India's exports stood at USD 11.46 billion, while imports were USD 2 billion. Bangladesh's perceived growing proximity with Pakistan and China and the implications of India's strained ties with its eastern neighbour were also discussed at a parliamentary committee meeting on Friday, according to sources.
