I tried all 6 of Soho House's new $12 fitness smoothies. They put regular protein shakes to shame.

Protein smoothies that are both beautiful and functional are popping up everywhere.
They're a sign of how fitness has had a luxury rebrand.
I enjoyed Soho House's protein smoothies, which cost $12 each and contain protein powder, fruit, and supplements.
I was perched at the gym bar of a Soho House branch in London, looking at a perfect row of plastic cups full to the brim with a pastel-colored, silky liquid, when it struck me how much protein shakes have changed in recent years.
Long gone are the days of gulping down a lumpy, makeshift concoction of water and protein powder in an ugly plastic shaker after a workout. Today, there's a new class of glossy protein shakes that are infinitely tastier and chicer: reflecting fitness' luxury rebrand in recent years.
With wispy swirls and a cloud-like texture, the designer protein smoothies at Soho House looked like zoomed-in snippets of an Impressionist painter's take on a Mediterranean sunset. Whether they would taste as good remained to be seen.
Served in a sleek Soho-House branded cup and each named after a branch of the members club (The Berlin, Warehouse, Shoreditch), they're part of a menu that launched in February. It includes five protein smoothies and one electrolyte drink intended to help gym-goers prepare for or recover from training.
They're $12 (£9) a pop and available in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Miami.
The smoothies feature different blends of either whey or plant-based protein powder with fruits, plant milk, supplements like creatine, and buzzy "superfoods" including chia seeds and matcha.
Expensive smoothies with functional add-ons are not new. Jamba Juice sells plenty of $9 smoothies, and Joe and The Juice's protein shakes, which launched in June 2024, go for $14.50. Although not a fitness drink, the viral $20 Hailey Bieber Strawberry Skin Glaze smoothie, a collaboration between the cult LA organic grocery store Erewhon and the Rhode skincare founder, mainstreamed the idea of the exorbitantly expensive smoothie.
Soho House is just the latest luxury brand to launch a range of elite protein smoothies for its wellness-crazed clientele. Both Barry's Bootcamp and Equinox have similar offerings. They all prove just how fashionable fitness has become, while their stylish appearance helps them double up as a gold star for participation in the world of luxury wellness.
Just holding one made me feel like an LA influencer.
Here's how I ranked Soho House's protein smoothies, from most to least favorite.
The Shoreditch
Ingredients: Cherries, strawberries, goji, chia seeds, whey or plant-based vanilla protein, kefir, coconut milk
Nutrition: 26g protein, 64g carbs, 3g fiber, 42 miligrams salt, 356 calories
The Shoreditch was hands down the most beautiful of the smoothies, and certainly looked like its designer took cues from Hailey Bieber's Erewhon collab.
It tasted very sweet and creamy, but the kefir (a fermented yogurt drink that contains gut-friendly microbes) gave it an added layer of tang, which I enjoyed. The protein powder was virtually undetectable too. I might have got a little sick of the sweetness by the end if I had drunk the whole thing, but it was definitely one of my favorites.
I personally wouldn't want to drink this every day because it's quite intense, but if I did a heavy workout or a long run, I would happily tuck into one of these.
The Warehouse
Ingredients: Pineapple, mango, goji, turmeric, ginger, vanilla protein, cayenne pepper, chia seeds, kefir, and coconut milk
Nutrients: 26g protein, 28g carbs, 3g fiber, 43mg salt, 375 calories
The Warehouse tasted like the protein shake equivalent of a spicy Margherita. It had a tropical fruit base from pineapple and mango and a layer of spice from turmeric and cayenne pepper, which mellowed it out.
The kick took me by surprise and elevated the overall flavor. I would definitely order this again.
The Berlin
Ingredients: Cacao, banana, dates, sunflower seed butter, cacao nibs, vanilla protein, and oat milk. A coffee shot for £1 extra.
Nutrition: 30g protein, 18.6g carbs, 11g fiber, 136mg salt, 401 calories
Berlin tasted like a thick chocolate milkshake. I hate the taste of protein powder, so I was pleasantly surprised that I could barely notice it. I'm also not a fan of bananas (sorry), which can make smoothies a bit of a minefield for me. But all the flavors in this blended nicely into an overwhelmingly chocolatey flavor.
Again, I wouldn't be buying this every time I went to the gym, but it was a delicious treat that I might enjoy after achieving a fitness goal.
The Beach House
Nutrients: 26g protein, 77g carbs, 5g fiber, 34mg salt, 444 calories
I was told that The Beach House is the No. 1 best seller of all the smoothies, so I had high expectations. It was tasty, but definitely not my favorite.
For me, there was nothing distinguishing about The Beach House. There were no ingredients in it that any of the other smoothies didn't have, so I feel it lacked identity.
It tasted like a slightly muted version of the Shoreditch, which is no bad thing if you're looking for something more low-key.
The Farmhouse
Nutrients: 30g protein, 26g carbs, 7g fiber, 167mg salt, 299 calories
The Farmhouse, as the name suggests, had an earthy flavor. It tasted less exciting than the others, kind of like a green juice, but still pleasant.
For me, a big part of the appeal of a fancy protein smoothie is that drinking it should be fun, so I'd be more inclined to go for one of the fruitier options. But this would be a good choice if you were having these regularly, as it's high in protein and has less sugar and fewer calories than the other shakes.
House Water
Nutrition: 0g protein, 1g carbs, 0g fiber, 0g salt, 128 calories
The House Water is an electrolyte drink, not a protein shake. It's cheaper than the shakes, costing £5 ($6.80). It's a nice option if you want something lighter to give you a little boost before a workout class or after a training session, and a tasty way to take your creatine, a workout supplement that research links to muscle gains and weight loss.
If you like coconut water, you'll love it, but I personally don't.
Overall, the smoothies were tasty and cheaper than other similar products on the market.
Is $12 a lot for a drink that comes in a plastic cup? Certainly. But given it can help you achieve nutrition goals so conveniently while looking and tasting good, I say they're worth it if you have the money.

Expect insightful tips straight from the newlyweds, shoppable elements, and plenty of must-save imagery as we share the nuptials of our favorite fashion people getting married. For upcoming features, share your submissions here. It all started at Erewhon—the salad bar to be exact. "I thought he was cute and asked him if he was going to eat his salad outside and if he wanted to sit with me, which he did," RLT owner and model Rachel Tabb recalls of her impromptu meet-cute with photographer Eric Davidson. "Very L.A." After their serendipitous lunch together in 2018, the couple dated for seven years, but Davidson knew almost instantly that they would end up together. "On our first date, he told me he would marry me, which he obviously stands by being an amazing call," Tabb says. Just like the relationship they share, the couple's engagement was warm and personal. "We got engaged in our home. I had hoped he would do something that felt like us: cozy and easy. Nothing too over-the-top, no flash mobs or Jumbotrons," explains Tabb as she reflects on their engagement. "The only 'rule' I had for him was that it was necessary that his daughter, Wylder, be involved in the proposal because it isn't just about us two. I love her so much and wanted her to feel like this was a family moment." Soon after the proposal, the wedding planning began. The couple chose places with a special connection from their time dating, including a backyard setting at the bride's family home and a local restaurant they frequent. Fashion, too, played an important role in the wedding. "As the owner of a vintage shop who is deeply preoccupied with sourcing clothes, I knew I was going to wear all vintage," Tabb explains. The bride wore archival pieces she'd collected for all of her big wedding moments—from her bridal shower to her honeymoon—including a special Calvin Klein dress that she saved for her wedding day. "I sourced a Calvin Klein dress, which I wore to the ceremony. I always envisioned myself getting married in a slip-style dress with a high neck and lower back. This was the only dress that I had any vision for when I was sourcing. Everything else just came to me as I went." "I got ready with my mom, sister, and Wylder." "To get ready, I wore this amazing white feathered robe that honestly was kind of hilarious looking back on it. I bought it years ago with the intention of getting ready for my wedding in it. It felt very Old Hollywood glam meets Frederick's of Hollywood." "For all things beauty and glam, I can be a bit boring. I know what I like, and I don't really stray from it, especially for a day that would live on in photo albums forever. My glam references were mostly Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, Kate Moss, and Christy Turlington—all very clean and simple. It was very important to me that I felt like myself. "The incredible Ricky Fraser did my hair. I opted for a French twist as an ode to my mom, who wore the same hairstyle when she married my dad. Wylder gave me one of her rhinestone hairpins so we could match. It was very sweet, and it worked perfectly in the updo and something borrowed. For glam, Jen Tioseco, who is not only the most talented but also a wonderful friend, did my makeup. I knew I was in the best hands." "While I didn't have a first look with my husband (we were together the entire day), I did have a first look with my dad. It was one of my favorite parts of the day. This was when he helped me put on all my jewelry, which was very sentimental because it was his grandmother's. We are incredibly close, and it was a very special shared moment between us I'll remember forever." "For shoes, I wore Manolos with both looks. For the ceremony, my mom put a little blue heart-shaped sticker on the sole of my shoe with a special sentiment we've been saying to each other our whole lives. It was my something blue." "Before I went downstairs for the ceremony, a few of my best friends came up to my parents' bathroom where I was getting ready. We all laughed and hugged and had champagne. Wylder called it 'the girls' room' and still says it was one of the highlights of the whole day for her." "I kept my jewelry very simple; two pieces were really all that mattered. I wore a family heirloom necklace and bracelet from my great-grandmother. It has been passed down for four generations in my family. I had always dreamt of the opportunity to wear them ever since I saw my grandma in it when I was little. My grandma, Momom, is one of the most important people in my life and, undoubtedly, my number one fashion influence. She got me hooked at a young age, playing dress-up in her closet as often as I could. Wearing something that I admired on her felt so special." "Our wedding ceremony took place in my parents' backyard, a place that has held so many of our happiest memories. We've spent nearly every Saturday in the backyard as a family since Eric and I started dating, so to me, it just felt right. We wanted to do something intimate for the ceremony, so we kept it almost exclusively family." "My family came together to build the chuppah ourselves by hand, which was incredibly sentimental and something I would definitely recommend." "The ceremony was very moving. My grandmother walked me down the aisle with my dad to 'What a Wonderful World' by Louis Armstrong. I loved being held by two of the most formative people in my life." "The ceremony was co-officiated by our dear friend Kelly Cole and our daughter Wylder, which was deeply meaningful. Eric had asked her to be his best man, and I had asked her to be my maid of honor. In the end, we gave her the role of the co-officiant so she would be right between us the whole time. She wore a very sentimental look: a dress of mine from when I was her age covered in purple flowers." "Wylder gave the most incredible speech—there wasn't a dry eye in the house (including mine). Eric's vows were beautiful. l wish I could've stood up there forever." "Eric wore a Ralph Lauren Purple Label suit. It felt very him—timeless and not fussy. He paired it with vintage Salvatore Ferragamo boots I had gotten him for Christmas the year prior. He looked perfect while still maintaining a sense of ease. We found his ring at the Santa Monica flea market. It was from 1907, brushed 22-karat gold with a perfect patina. His daughter and I surprised him by getting it engraved with our three initials—completely her idea." "Rarely is the ceremony the best part of the wedding, but in our case, it felt like it was. It was intimate—only 30 guests." "I found my wedding ring in Paris over the summer with my mother and grandmother. We took a girls' trip and stumbled into a vintage shop after seeing the Brâncuși exhibit. An Edwardian ring with three old mine-cut diamonds (symbolic of the three of us—Eric, Wylder, and I) set in 18-karat brushed gold. It fit perfectly. It was a no-brainer, and to find it on such a special trip to Paris was more than I could've ever hoped for." "I had very few references for what I wanted my look to be as a bride. Kate Moss at the 1998 Cannes Film Festival was a major inspiration for my bridal look. The entire glam, the thin straps, the necklace—that was my most referenced look. The other was an old Ralph Lauren ad, which I'd had saved forever. Marrying those two looks was my goal for the evening." "For the party, we rented out one of our favorite restaurants, Loreto. It was very important to Eric and I to make our celebration feel as accessible and easy for our guests as possible. When looking for a venue, I had very few specificities, but I knew I wanted the celebration to be food-centric, romantic, [and] outdoors and feel like we weren't in L.A. Loreto had all of that." "At Loreto, 100 more guests joined us. It was exactly as I described it to my planner—a big outdoor, sexy dinner. It was full of toasts, mezcal, and wonderful conversation. Everyone was laughing and dancing, and you could feel love in every corner of the room." "We had a double father-daughter dance to James Taylor's 'Fire and Rain.' Eric danced with his daughter, and I danced with my father. It was beautiful." "[For my second look, I chose] a hand-beaded Giorgio Armani runway gown—exactly what I was looking for. Something simple yet elegant while still feeling so incredibly special and very me. I fell in love with the beading patterns and the thin little straps. Not to mention, with no tailoring, it fit like a glove." "One of my closest friends, Sophia, made our wedding cake. It was delectable. We also had pavlova for our guests, which was very important to me because my grandmother and I have a very special shared love of pavlova, and I wanted to bring that to the menu. I feel so grateful I did it my way and was unconventional enough to have a wedding at a Mexican restaurant. Having my closest friends and family get to know each other over crudo, branzino, and pavlova was perfect. It was everything I could've wanted and more." "After dancing in the kitchen to it together for so many years, Eric and I had our first dance to 'La Vie En Rose' by Louis Armstrong." "[I feel] deeply grateful to my friends and family who came together to help with all the aspects, big and small, of the wedding—my friends, who did the music, designed the invitations, made the food, and made the cake; my dad, who made all the paper goods by hand; my family, who built the chuppah. It felt so warm and beautiful to have everyone come together for our day." Reese Witherspoon flaunts summer romance with her man during sun-soaked getaway

Reese Witherspoon is heating things up on her sun-kissed getaway with financier boyfriend Oliver Haarmann. The Oscar-winning actress, 49, and the wealthy NHL investor, 57, were spotted cozying up aboard a luxury yacht in the French Riviera. The couple packed on the PDA, as they shared laughs by the water in Saint-Tropez. Witherspoon flaunted a cheeky white one-piece swimsuit, while Haarmann kept it casual in patterned swim trunks. The pair looked head-over-heels as they kissed, cuddled and snorkeled their way through the Mediterranean aboard a luxury vessel. Witherspoon was spotted enjoying water activities with her beau as she wore pink snorkel goggles during their lavish holiday. The "Legally Blonde" star wrapped her arms around Haarmann as he placed his hand on her thigh while they enjoyed their day by the water. She was all smiles as she gazed into her boyfriend's eyes and was seen laughing throughout her yacht trip. The two took turns diving into the water and appeared to take breaks to lock lips. In several photos during their sun-soaked getaway, Haarmann was seen rinsing Witherspoon's backside with a hose, before they enjoyed the views aboard the top of the yacht. Last September, the couple were seen taking their relationship to the next level as they were seen gallivanting throughout New York City. Witherspoon and Haarmann dined at L'Artusi in the Big Apple in July. The couple flew into New York City the day before via helicopter. Their romance sparked after Witherspoon and ex Jim Toth announced their divorce after almost 12 years of marriage in March 2023. The former couple share son Tennessee, 12. Witherspoon was previously married to Ryan Phillippe, and they have a daughter Ava, 25, and son Deacon, 21. Haarmann was previously married to Mala Gaonkar, and they have two children together. According to People, Gaonkar is a financier herself and launched her own hedge fund, SurgoCap Partners, in 2022.

I Spent 3+ Hours at Madewell Trying on Summer Outfits for My Europe Trips—These 10 Made the Cut, From $23

When I'm packing for a trip, Madewell's clothing racks are pretty much my one-stop shop for creating full travel outfits. These items are comfy, stylish, and high-quality—aka, they're basically made for museum tours, café-hopping, and everything in between. So when I started prepping for two back-to-back summer vacations to Italy and France, I didn't even hesitate and went straight to the Soho store in New York City, ready to do some shopping (in the name of research, of course). If you're a fellow Madewell fan, I did the hard part for you: I tried on what felt like an entire suitcase's worth of clothes, and narrowed it down to the styles that looked and felt amazing, and would arrive in good condition after a long flight. Three hours, one very patient fitting room attendant, and a lot of mirror selfies later, I landed on 10 summer travel outfits I truly love. From breezy linen pants and matching sets to flowy maxi skirts and classic summer dresses, there's something here for every type of trip—and prices start at just $23. The moment I slipped into this maxi dress, I knew it was coming with me. The smocked bodice hugs just right without feeling tight, and the gauzy cotton moves beautifully—light and breathable enough for even the stickiest summer days. It's the kind of piece I can wear straight from a beachside stroll to a sunset dinner. I styled it with these handwoven ballet flats, which feel surprisingly cushioned for how structured they look. They're also currently 55 percent off, which made them an even easier decision. To finish the look, I added a layered shell necklace set for just the right hint of coastal charm. I already have this outfit mentally packed for my wine tour in Tuscany. This pinstriped jumpsuit instantly struck that ideal balance between tailored and easy—the kind of outfit that looks pulled together with zero effort. The wide-leg silhouette adds movement and breathability, and since it's one piece, it's a dream for packing light. I paired it with the Milano Mid-heeled Sandals that were shockingly comfortable, even after a few laps around the fitting room. The Handwoven Shoulder Bag brings texture without the bulk, and I topped it off with classic aviators for a look that feels just as right for a day of sightseeing as it does for a late-afternoon spritz in Florence. Psst, now's the perfect time to grab the jumpsuit while it's sporting a near-$40 off discount. This outfit feels like my ultimate travel uniform—relaxed, versatile, and ready for the heat. The Cotton Double-gauze Oversized Shirt is airy and lightweight, ideal for hot days when I still want to look put together. I styled it with the Relaxed Pleated Trouser Shorts in 100% Linen that drape beautifully and have that easy, effortless vibe I always look for in warm-weather outfits. The braided belt adds shape, while the strappy toe-ring sandals pull everything together with a low-key, Euro-summer feel. I can already picture myself rewearing this entire look for everything from market mornings in Provence to lazy beachside lunches in Cinque Terre. I've always loved a matching set for travel, and this linen duo is the kind of outfit I'll reach for on repeat. The curved-hem shorts offer a flattering shape without feeling fussy, and Easy Button-up Shirt has a clean, minimalist cut that makes it feel a little elevated. Worn together, the set is an easy go-to for mornings when I don't want to think too hard about what to wear. I also love how versatile it is—I can pair the shorts with a white tank or throw the top over jeans for a totally different look. To finish the outfit, I added these double-strap slingback sandals that feel sporty and polished at once, and just right for any casual day on the go. This midi skirt is one of those rare finds that call for comfort without compromising on style. The smocked waistband sits comfortably and moves with you, and the blue-jean shade offers a dressier twist on classic denim while still pairing easily with anything in my suitcase. I styled it with Madewell's ribbed tank, a staple I always pack because it layers well and goes with everything. I finished the look with The Handwoven Straw Mini Tote, which is spacious enough to hold all the essentials—sunglasses, a Kindle, sunscreen, and even a camera—while still looking pulled together for exploring a new city. The Zoe Relaxed Linen Pants will become my go-to for a relaxed travel day look, since they're so comfortable without feeling lazy. The wide-leg cut is incredibly breezy, and the subtle vertical stripes make it feel just a little more elevated. Plus, they're 40 percent off. I paired the pants with their cotton V-neck tank that's soft, easy to layer, and one of those pieces I'll end up reaching for every day of my trip. To tie it all together, I slipped on the Maude double-strap sandals again— they've been a surprisingly versatile staple in every outfit I tried. This outfit feels like summer in a snapshot. The 1997 Denim Bermuda Shorts have a retro-cool vibe but still feel modern with a clean, high-rise fit. I tucked in this Boatneck Bubble Tee, which has a slightly boxy shape that balances the slim shorts perfectly. Here, the braided belt polishes up the look (and it's 40 percent off), while the ankle-wrap leather sandals add a fun, feminine twist that makes the whole outfit feel vacation-ready—whether I'm off to the farmer's market or grabbing lunch along the coast. The second I put on the Striped V-neck Midi Dress, I felt like I was somewhere in the South of France. It's made from 100 percent linen, so it's naturally breezy, but the flattering V-neck and midi length give it a more refined, all-day-wear kind of feel. My favorite feature is definitely the pockets, as it adds to the carefree travel look. It's the kind of piece I'd wear to a garden lunch in Provence or throw on after a swim when I still want to look pulled together. I kept it simple with the Logan Aviator Sunglasses—classic and cool, just like the dress. This might be my favorite outfit of the bunch. The Linen Maxi Slip Skirt has such an effortless drape and moves beautifully with every step. I styled it with the Linen Scoopneck Cutaway Vest for a head-to-toe monochrome look that feels modern and put-together without being too precious. It's a lightweight, breathable pairing that works just as well for city wandering as it does for a casual dinner out. I finished it with the mini handwoven tote, which fits all the essentials and adds a bit of texture. The Poplin Seamed Maxi Dress is a dream for hot, sticky weather—the structured seams give it shape, but the cotton fabric keeps things feeling light and airy. It's one of those dresses that looks great with minimal effort, which is exactly what I need when I'm living out of a suitcase. I added the Organic Wide Cuff Bracelet to dress it up a bit, and I love how the contrast makes the outfit feel city-ready without being overdone. I could easily wear this to explore a new neighborhood or grab a last-minute dinner reservation. I also love the pop of color. Love a great deal?
