Daniil Medvedev
in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6 (4), on Sunday, June 22, 2025, to win the Halle Open for the second time. He also won the grass-court tournament in 2023. He is just the third player to claim the title more than once after three-time winner Yevgeny Kafelnikov and 10-time champion Roger Federer.
Bublik achieved his first win in seven meetings with Russian Daniil Medvedev. He defeated top-ranked Jannik Sinner in the second round. Bublik, ranked 45, maintained his streak with a 6-3, 7-6 (7/4) victory in one hour and 22 minutes in his first clash on grass with third seed Medvedev. The Halle Open win for Bublik came a week before Wimbledon.
Medvedev, who saw off home favourite Alexander Zverev in the semifinals, was playing his first final since losing to Carlos Alcaraz at Indian Wells in March 2024.

Thanks to his second Halle trophy after 2023 and fifth ATP title overall, Bublik will move to 30th in Monday's
ATP rankings
, while Medvedev, who was playing in his first final in 15 months, will move to number nine.
"I was cursed against you, Daniil. But today, I'm happy to have won. Beating you here is a great honour for me," Bublik said during the trophy presentation. In the first set, Bublik broke his opponent's serve to lead 5-3 and won the set on his serve.

The Kazakh saved Medvedev's only break point, also a set point, at 4-5 in the second set with a perfectly hit drop shot. He wrapped up the match in the tiebreak with a service winner. "From the mental point of view, that's the toughest match I ever played in my life," said Bublik.
"I have never beaten Daniil. He's a super tough player to play, especially with my gamestyle, and today everything clicked in mentally and physically. That's one of the wins of my career."
"I had such tough months since last Wimbledon to probably this summer," said Bublik, who had dropped out of the top 75 until last month and conceded he was "close to calling it quits after Wimbledon (last year), because I was not enjoying it anymore." Bublik has also won titles in Montpellier in 2022 and 2024 and Antwerp and Halle in 2023.
"Alexander Bublik played some great grass court play today. My heart always beats a little faster when you play like that on grass," said 57-year-old German Boris Becker, a three-time Wimbledon champion (1985, 1986, 1989), before presenting the trophy.
A former world number one in 2022, Medvedev lost his sixth consecutive final; his 20th and last title was the Masters 1000 on clay in Rome in May 2023. "Keep playing like that, and please, Carlos (Alcaraz) or Jannik in your draw at Wimbledon," joked former US Open winner Medvedev, a two-time Wimbledon semi-finalist.

‘Deathwish madness': Russian daredevil performs gymnastics under hot air balloon without parachute; watch
Sergey Boytsov, 30, claims to have become the first person to perform gymnastics under a hot air balloon without safety gear. The Russian athlete said he has set a record for the world's first gymnastic performance on a horizontal bar suspended from a hot air balloon at 1,500 metres without a parachute. In a viral video of the feat, Boytsov is seen on a square platform under a hot air balloon. Untethered, he swings on a high bar in his gymnastics suit. Sharing the video, an X user, Collin Rugg, wrote, 'Russian bodybuilder and daredevil Sergey Boytsov claims to have set a world record. Boytsov claims to have set a world record for the world's first gymnastic turns under a balloon at an altitude of 1500 meters *without* a parachute. Boytsov says there was no 'insurance,' meaning if something went wrong, he was done.' Watch here: NEW: Russian bodybuilder and daredevil Sergey Boytsov claims to have set a world record. Many users criticised Boytsov for risking his life. 'People are really desperate for attention these days,' a user reacted. 'Deathwish madness,' another said. 'I don't even know how you could be harnessed in a situation like this. Twisting around the bar would probably make any kind of a harness system more risk than reward. No parachute either,' another user commented. 'A great example of physics. As the gymnast is in motion and his platform is in motion, he doesn't need to worry about falling off the platform necessarily, unless it Ford momentum when coming off the platform exceeded the edge of the platform,' a third user chimed in. Meanwhile, a hot air balloon caught fire mid-air in Brazil's Santa Catarina on Saturday, killing eight people. The balloon was carrying 21 individuals, including the pilot, and crashed into a forested area near the city of Praia Grande after catching fire. According to the fire department, the incident occurred in the early morning hours during a tourist flight. Thirteen survivors were rescued and taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, reports said.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander stuns with gold Converse SHAI 001s moments after leading Oklahoma City Thunder to NBA title
(Image Source - Getty Images) Shai Gilgeous-Alexander turned each playoff game into a unique sneaker launch, and the gold SHAI 001 was his most understated yet bold move. It didn't make an appearance in the pregame. It didn't need a dramatic entrance. It only showed up once the game was over. That kind of timing isn't coincidental—it's the outcome of a vision that's been set from day one. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander completes a rare MVP sweep that hasn't been seen in over two decades In the Oklahoma City Thunder's 103-91 Game 7 win over the Indiana Pacers on June 22, Shai was nothing less than phenomenal, racking up 29 points and 12 assists, which clinched him the Finals MVP award. He achieved the impressive feat of winning the scoring title, regular-season MVP, and Finals MVP all in one season—something that hasn't been accomplished since Shaquille O'Neal in 2002. This game also brought the franchise its first title since moving from Seattle in 2008. When Shai returned to the court, his gold SHAI 001s glimmered like the Larry O'Brien Trophy and the Finals MVP award he was carrying. It was a visual shout-out — his way of indicating that this win was as much about individual style as it was about the team's victory. The gold colorway contributes to the ever-growing lineup of SHAI 001 releases: the "Butter" model is expected to be released this Fall for $130, while other styles such as "Masi Blue," "Charm Black," and "Hail Clay" have been showcased during playoffs and Finals, each paying tribute to his loved ones. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Bochum: Nur 700 Plätze. The reveal of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's gold SHAI 001 after the Thunder's championship goes beyond just fashion—it's the ultimate highlight of a season marked by excellence, creativity, and designs inspired by athletes.
