Springfield deadly hit-and-run suspect to face court on Tuesday
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The man facing charges for a deadly hit-and-run in Springfield is due in court on Tuesday.

The crash took place on March 27th at the intersection of Parker Street and Verge Street. According to Springfield Police, a vehicle struck 30-year-old Aronde Odom, who was walking his bicycle across the street at the time. Officers located Odom on the ground with deadly injuries and found a vehicle nearby with a bicycle tire lodged under the driver's side. The driver of the vehicle had left the incident before authorities arrived.
Carlos Reyes of Springfield turned himself in the next day. At the time of his surrender, police discovered that he had an active warrant out of Palmer District Court. He was taken into custody and charged in connection with the crash.
Reyes was arraigned on March 31st in Springfield District Court on a charge of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle collision resulting in death and was held on $250,000 bail. In court on Tuesday, a judge will hear arguments on whether or not the bail should be revised.

North Adams man sentenced to prison for raping three-year-old
PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A North Adams man was sentenced to prison on Wednesday for multiple charges related to rape of a child. 'Upskirting' case involved multiple victims, Berkshire County DA urges update on Massachusetts law Berkshire District Attorney's Office Chief of Operations Julia Sabourin shared in a news release that 29-year-old Austin Miller-Robinson was sentenced to 18 to 20 years in state prison for the charges of Aggravated Rape of a Child with Force and Rape and Abuse of a Child Aggravated by Age Difference. This sentencing stems from an investigation beginning in 2019, in which Miller-Robinson raped a three-year-old child. He was found guilty on June 4. 'This is an important victory for the children and citizens of Berkshire County,' said Berkshire District Attorney Timothy Shugrue. 'I will always advocate for the strongest possible penalties under the law for anyone who harms our children.' Cocaine trafficking suspects arrested in Holyoke apartment raid
HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Three Holyoke residents were arrested on Tuesday following a months-long cocaine trafficking investigation. Holyoke Police Chief Brian Keenan stated in a social media post that for the past several months, a multi-agency investigation had been taking place into the alleged cocaine distribution by 46-year-old Felix Vargas of Holyoke. Vargas had reportedly been distributing cocaine from his apartment on Hampden Street. ATV rider arrested after crashing into Holyoke police cruiser The investigation was conducted in collaboration with the Holyoke Police Narcotics Unit, the Chicopee Police Narcotics Unit, and the FBI Western Massachusetts Gang Task Force. Last Friday, Chicopee detectives were granted a search warrant for Vargas' apartment and vehicle. At approximately 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, members of the investigation team searched Vargas' home and vehicle, where he and multiple other suspects were arrested. Police said that as Vargas was being handcuffed, he threw several items over a railing. The items were located and found to be three bags of powder cocaine. During the search, law enforcement recovered an illegally owned loaded firearm, a firearm magazine, approximately 26 bags of crack cocaine, ten bags of powder cocaine, a taser, and $725 in cash. In addition to Vargas, 38-year-old Erica Weeks and 45-year-old Christy Suarez, both of Holyoke, were arrested inside the apartment.
