UP Dalit Family Beaten With Rods, Sticks For Objecting To Cattle Trespass: Cops

A Dalit farmer and his wife were beaten with sticks and iron rods and subjected to caste-based abuse in a village here, police on Sunday said.
The incident took place Friday morning in Anaich village, under the Oonjh Police Station area, over grazing of cattle. Six people have been booked in the matter.
According to police, the complainant was Deepak Kumar Pasi, a landless Dalit farmer, who cultivates urad (black gram) on a sharecropping basis in a local villager's field.
Deepak, police said, objected to another villager's cattle grazing in his field when he, his wife, Sumitra, elder brother, and mother, were assaulted.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhimanyu Manglik said, "When Deepak complained about Rajaram Yadav's cattle grazing in his field, Rajaram became enraged. He hurled at Deepak casteist slurs and with the help of others beat him with sticks and iron rods." According to the complaint, the attackers dragged Sumitra by her hair across the field, beat her, and disrobed her.
Deepak and Sumitra were admitted to a hospital due to the serious nature of their injuries, while the four other of his family members were discharged with little treatment.
Based on Deepak's complaint, police have booked Rajaram Yadav, Dilajeet Yadav, Arvind Yadav, Rajendra Yadav, Parvati Devi, and Tara Devi.

Deepak, who had allegedly raped a two-and-a-half-year-old girl under the Alambagh metro station just hours earlier, was gunned down after he opened fire on a police team that had zeroed in on him. He sustained two bullet injuries in the chest and later died during treatment. The heinous crime occurred in the early hours of Friday when the accused allegedly kidnapped the toddler, who was sleeping with her parents under the Alambagh metro station. Gagging her mouth, he lifted her and carried her towards the lift area around 2:30 am, where he raped her. After the girl fainted due to severe injuries, the accused, presuming her dead, fled the scene. A handicapped passerby later found the child lying unconscious and bleeding and alerted nearby residents and her parents. Soon after the incident, a 3.55-second CCTV footage from the metro premises surfaced. It showed Deepak arriving on a white Honda Activa, pressing the lift button, and then crossing the road to pick up the girl. He is seen lifting her and taking her towards the lift where the assault took place. Police said the footage suggested the accused had been monitoring the location and assessing the situation multiple times before striking.

Tension grips remote hamlet in A.P.'s Sathya Sai district, after a minor girl reported ‘pregnant'
Tension gripped a remote village of Ramagiri mandal of Sri Sathya Sai district after a 14-year-old girl was reported to be pregnant, triggering the police presence at the locality. According to the police, the girl, belonging to the Dalit community, was reportedly found in a visibly advanced stage of pregnancy. This forced the police authorities to intervene in the incident immediately. Senior police personnel who visited the village launched an investigation to determine the facts behind the incident and identify those responsible. 'A thorough investigation is underway. Strict legal action will be taken against the culprits,' a police officer said. special team led by Circle Inspector Sridhar visited the village to probe the incident. However, the girl's family was found to be missing from their home. As the doors were locked, the police could not record their statements. The police said special parties were formed to trace the missing family. 'The girl is a ninth-class student. Her father had expired several years ago, while her mother is said to be mentally unstable,' a police official said. Police probing blackmail angle Meanwhile, the police received disturbing inputs from the neighbourhood that the girl was allegedly subjected to blackmail and intimidation by a batch of at least fifteen youths in the village. To cover up the incident, some influential persons in the village and at the mandal level were said to have entered the scene for a mediation, assuring money to the victim's family. However, the latter was said to have denied the deal and fled the village amidst this backdrop.

Delhi daylight shooting case: 3 arrested in ‘encounter'
New Delhi: Following an 'encounter', the Delhi Police arrested two alleged shooters and a conspirator involved in the daylight murder of a man in south Delhi's Mehrauli, an official said on Thursday. Deepak (31) and Yogesh (30) were identified as the alleged shooters, and Ajay (27) as a conspirator, the official said, adding that the shooters sustained bullet injuries in their legs during retaliatory fire. Ajay was later apprehended from Pushp Vihar and found in possession of an illegal firearm. 'On May 15, a 30-year-old man identified as Arun Lohia was shot dead near a bus stop at CDR Chowk. He was rushed to Fortis Hospital but was declared dead. A case under relevant sections of the BNS was registered at Mehrauli Police Station, and an investigation was launched,' Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan said. Based on electronic surveillance, CCTV footage analysis, and local intelligence, the team identified the suspects. On the intervening night of June 4 and 5, the police received specific inputs that the shooters were planning to flee via Chirag Delhi's Khanpur stretch. A trap was set around 3 am and the accused were intercepted while riding a motorcycle. 'On being challenged, the duo opened fire on the police team. Despite warning shots fired into the air, the accused continued to shoot. In retaliatory action, they were shot in their legs and overpowered,' the DCP said. A head constable was struck by a bullet, however, his bulletproof jacket saved him from serious harm. Subsequently, a cache of weapons was recovered, including two automatic pistols (9mm and .25mm), one .32 bore pistol, 12 live cartridges, six empty cartridges, and a motorcycle used in the crime. 'The third accused, Ajay, was apprehended the same day near Asian Market, Pushp Vihar while trying to meet his associates. He was found with a country-made pistol and three live rounds. A separate case under the Arms Act was registered at Saket police station,' DCP Chauhan said. Deepak was previously involved in two criminal cases, including robbery and arms offences, according to the police, while Yogesh had a criminal record involving cases of rape, abduction, robbery, and attempt to murder. Ajay's involvement in criminal activity is under investigation. The motive behind the murder and the identity of the person who ordered the hit are being investigated. Officials hinted that the murder may be linked to personal enmity or past rivalry due to a property dispute, however, further details are expected to emerge only after sustained interrogation.
