Ebbw Vale hope home advantage is key in Super Rygbi Cymru

The Steelmen host Carmarthen Quins in the quarter-finals of the play-offs on Saturday night (kick-off 7.30pm).
Ebbw Vale Cricket Club's second XI encounter with Usk thirds means that it's a late start, but Jason Strange's men will aim to deal with any Quins doosras.
They will head into next season with the SRC Challenger Shield that they won at Llandovery and defended on home soil.
That stretched their Eugene Cross Park unbeaten run back to the last-gasp March, 2024 loss to Newport.
Ebbw finished second behind Cardiff to ensure that they are guaranteed a home semi-final if they avoid an upset this weekend.
Then they would either head to Cardiff Arms Park or host another rival in the final.

'Our goals for the season were to get to the cup final and finish in the top two for a home quarter-final and possible semi, so it's been a fantastic season so far,' said Strange.
'I've learnt from my rugby league experience [with St Helens and Warrington in Super League] that home advantage is so important.
'That's particularly the case for us because we haven't lost at Eugene Cross Park in 14 months so that gives us a great chance to reach the final, but we still need to be good on the day.
'We've put ourselves in this position through hard work by a lot of people, especially the players. The club is connected again, on and off the field.
'We are in a strong position because we are well supported, there is a lot going on in terms of ground development and our team is really strong.'
Ebbw have steadily grown since the return of Strange, who laid the foundations for the 2016 Premiership title triumph along with Neil Edwards.
Last season they were beaten by Llandovery in the Premiership Cup semi-final and heavily by Newport in the last four of the play-offs.
Ebbw made it through to the final of the SRC Cup in March but were overpowered by the Drovers in the second half at Church Bank.
'You have to lose one or two to win one or two,' said Strange. 'Every experience is a good one, whether you win or lose, as long as you take the learnings.'
Form suggests that this weekend is a case of avoiding a banana skin before tougher tests but the Quins showed their resilience with a win up north against RGC in the wildcard round.
'We've had tough games against them, even though we won all three,' said Strange. 'They have a strong set piece and a good kicking 9.
'They definitely have something about them and we respect them, but it's down to us doing what we do well.'
Avoid a shock and Ebbw will be able to get on with planning a semi-final, which will lead to more negotiations with the cricket club.
The second XI are pencilled in for a clash with Ponthir on Saturday, May 10.
'Hopefully they can be understanding because it would be really big for the area,' said Strange. 'It's a big rugby town and the economic benefits are massive, but first we need to focus on Saturday.'
Influential fly-half Evan Lloyd is back to pull the strings for Ebbw after missing the narrow win against Swansea to end the regular season.
That means that Ethan Phillips can return to midfield while Ryan Gardner is back on the wing in place of Harry Rees-Weldon.
The Wales Under-20s wing will be travelling to South Africa with the Dragons after a try-scoring debut against the Ospreys last weekend.
Ebbw Vale: Matt Jones; Ewan Bowden, Ethan Phillips, Cameron Davies, Ryan Gardner; Evan Lloyd, Gruff Tough; Luke Garrett, Joe Franchi (captain), Adam Williams, Dylan Bartlett, Curtis Gregory, Jack Pope, Sion Parry, Ryan Jenkins.
Replacements: TBC.

Dane Murray celebrates contract with goal as Celtic ease past Falkirk

Dane Murray celebrated his new contract with his first Celtic goal as the holders beat Falkirk 4-1 in the Premier Sports Cup. The 22-year-old defender headed home Celtic's third goal of the second-round clash at Parkhead. Murray, who has already overcome two separate cruciate ligament injuries in his career, earlier signed a new deal that keeps him at the club until 2028. Daizen Maeda and Alistair Johnston were also on target and Falkirk defender Liam Henderson put through his own net before Keelan Adams scored an impressive consolation goal for the Premiership newcomers. Centre-back Murray was one of six players coming into the Celtic line-up alongside goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo, Auston Trusty, Arne Engels and Johnny Kenny. The Hoops beat then Championship side Falkirk 5-2 on their way to winning last season's tournament and this was another open encounter with both sides creating chances in the first half. Kenny volleyed wide early on after James Forrest's lay-off and former Celtic goalkeeper Scott Bain saved long-range strikes from Callum McGregor and Kieran Tierney before scrambling to meet Henderson's wayward passback, which just went wide. Ross MacIver dragged a shot wide at the other end after a loose pass from Murray. The breakthrough came in the 26th minute after McGregor returned the ball into the box following a corner. Tierney ran on to meet the cross and nodded the ball down for Maeda to score with a diving header. There were further chances at each end before the break. Sinisalo saved brilliantly from Calvin Miller's 25-yard strike before denying Alfredo Agyeman and MacIver. Engels and Forrest missed close-range headers at the other end. Celtic were more dominant after the break and doubled their lead in the 54th minute after Falkirk lost possession from a throw-in. Johnston chased down Miller as the former Celtic player headed back towards his own goal and the right-back won the ball before curling into the far corner with his left foot. Murray got his big moment in the 61st minute when he headed home from an inswinging corner from Engels. Celtic went further ahead three minutes later as Yang Hyun-jun made an instant impact after coming on with home debutant Shin Yamada. The South Korean winger ran past two opponents after Celtic won the ball back deep in the Bairns half, and his low ball across the goalmouth was turned into his own net by Henderson. The noisy visiting fans got a chance to celebrate three minutes later when right-back Adams arrowed a shot into the top corner from 20 yards. That ended the flurry of goals as Celtic safely navigated their way into Saturday evening's quarter-final draw and avoided any injuries ahead of their Champions League play-off first leg against Kairat Almaty on Wednesday. Dominant Hull KR see off Wigan to go six points clear at top of Super League

Hull KR took a big step towards the second leg of a historic treble after a statement victory at the defending Super League champions, Wigan Warriors, left them with one hand on the League Leaders' Shield. Having already won the Challenge Cup earlier this summer, Willie Peters' side are now six points clear of the second-placed Warriors with five rounds to go after producing a defensive masterclass to stun Matt Peet's Wigan on a night that felt like it firmly underlined their credentials as Super League's new force. It was Rovers who dominated the majority of an engrossing first half. By the interval they led 8-0: an advantage which could, and perhaps should, have been even greater. It was no surprise that they took the lead given the dominance they had enjoyed. Arthur Mourgue's inch-perfect pass proved to be the moment that unlocked a resolute Wigan defensive line, allowing Dean Hadley to cut through and giving Rhyse Martin a straightforward conversion to make it 6-0 in favour of the Robins. But Hull KR could have gone further ahead. Kelepi Tanginoa's break was halted by some spirited Wigan defence and twice more the reigning champions kept their opponents at bay before a crucial moment four minutes before the interval. Wigan captain Liam Farrell fouled his opposite number, Elliot Minchella, as he looked certain to ground a Jez Litten kick. It was a telling moment, Wigan's leader and most experienced player committing a sure-fire foul to deny Hull KR a second try and sacrifice himself with his side visibly holding back the tide. Martin kicked the resulting penalty to make it 8-0 and it was difficult to argue that the visitors didn't deserve an even bigger lead. Rovers continued to control proceedings after the break, though the Warriors were guilty of some seriously below-par handling, far from what we are used to from the defending champions. Hull KR struck another blow as the game entered the final quarter after Wigan were penalised, with Martin adding another penalty to make it 10-0. It looked as though the Robins would hold their opponents out all evening, before Adam Keighran's try with six minutes remaining set up a grandstand finale after a handling error deep in the Robins' half. But the visitors held firm amid a late flurry of pressure from Wigan to secure a remarkable victory.
