Five arrested after brawl at Malaysia-Vietnam match
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested five local men suspected of being involved in a brawl after the 2027 Asia Cup Qualifiers football match between Malaysia and Vietnam at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, yesterday.
Cheras Deputy District Police Chief Supt Ridzuan Khalid said the five men, aged between 19 and 27, were arrested in the parking area B, Bukit Jalil National Stadium, here at 11:50 pm and have been remanded for one day starting today for investigations under Section 147 of the Penal Code.
'The case will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor's office for further instructions,' he said in a statement today.
Ridzuan urged the public with any information regarding the incident to contact the Cheras Police hotline at 03-9284 5050/ 5051, the Kuala Lumpur Police hotline at 03-2115 9999, or any nearby police station.
Earlier, a one-minute video clip went viral on the TikTok application showing a fight incident being broken up by police officers, believed to have occurred outside the stadium.

"The account published an offensive message about the UPSI students involved in the recent road tragedy. "We advise the public not to upload any content that may cause unease or disrupt public order," he said in a statement today. Earlier, it was reported that the Perak State Education Department had directed the district education office to prepare a full report on the teacher's social media post. Perak state executive councillor for education, higher learning, youth and sports Khairudin Abu Hanipah was quoted as saying that investigations found the Facebook account to belong to a teacher serving at a secondary school in the state. The teacher sparked controversy after posting an offensive remark that went viral and caused distress to the victims' families. On Monday, a bus carrying 42 UPSI students was travelling from Jertih, Terengganu, to the university's main campus when it collided with a Perodua Alza at KM53 of the East-West Highway in Gerik. Thirteen died at the scene, while two others succumbed to their injuries in hospital. Court acquits chicken seller charged with assaulting man with golf club in Bau

Judge Iris Awen Jon made the ruling after finding that the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case against Abdul Malek Faisal Kamil, 38, at the end of the prosecution's case. Abdul Malek, who sells live chickens, was charged with intentionally causing grievous hurt to a now 28-year-old man in Kampung Bidi, Krokong, Bau at around 10am on Sept 25, 2022. The charge was framed under Section 326 of the Penal Code, which provides imprisonment for up to 20 years and may also include a fine or whipping, upon conviction. It was understood that during the incident, the victim was waiting for a friend – also a witness in the case – when he was approached by three unidentified men. One of the men reportedly struck the victim with a golf club, resulting in a skull fracture and internal brain bleeding that required surgery on Sept 27, 2022. During the trial, Abdul Malek's counsel Arthur Liang Dawat argued that the reliability of the identification made by the victim, as well as another eyewitness, was highly questionable. He contended that their testimonies were unclear and inconsistent, thereby casting serious doubt on the accuracy of the identification. The lawyer further submitted that the identity of the individual who actually struck the victim with the golf club remained uncertain. A total of six prosecution witnesses were called to testify during the trial. Two suspects sought after firecracker incident damaged homes in Bukit Mertajam
BUKIT MERTAJAM: The police are currently searching for two suspects connected to an incident in which firecrackers were thrown into a house in Taman Serumpun. Central Seberang Perai OCPD Assistant Commissioner Helmi Aris reported that authorities received a tip-off from the public about the incident. It occurred at approximately 1.05pm and resulted in damage to three houses and two vehicles. "Investigations revealed that the explosion was likely caused by a firecracker thrown into one of the houses, and the blast impact also damaged two nearby houses," he said in a statement on Thursday (June 12). ACP Helmi noted that all three affected houses suffered damage to their ceilings and front yards. Further investigations indicated that the incident was related to a debt issue. Two unidentified suspects were seen leaving the scene in a car. The police are urging any witnesses with information regarding the incident to come forward and provide their statements at the Central Seberang Perai police headquarters. They can also contact senior investigation officer ASP Assam Alimudin at 0124418081. This case is being investigated under Section 434 of the Penal Code and Section 6 of the Explosives Act 1957.
