Auburn's Fralick, Rembert named Freshman All-Americans by Baseball America
The awards keep rolling in for Auburn baseball after their turnaround season. The latest players acknowledged for their 2025 season are freshmen Chase Fralick and Chris Rembert. On Monday, they were both named to the First Team Freshman All-America team by Baseball America. Both Fralick and Rembert were honored this season, along with Bub Terrell, on the Freshman All-SEC Team.
Fralick played catcher for the Tigers in 2025. He was third on the team with a batting average of .335 and was fifth on the team with 41 RBIs. He played well in helping guide the Tigers to a Regional Championship. In the three games versus Central Connecticut State, Stetson, and NC State, he had four hits and one RBI. Fralick scored two runs in an 11-1 win over NC State to clinch the Regional Championship.
Second baseman Chris Rembert was not only on the Freshman All-SEC Team but was also on the All-SEC Second Team. He was second on the Tigers with a batting average of .344 and third on the team with 72 hits. Rembert was also third on the team with ten home runs behind Ike Irish and Cooper McMurray. Rembert had perhaps one of his best games of the season against NC State with four hits and four RBIs. He had another four-hit game earlier in the season against Mississippi State in a 6-5 win on April 25th.
Both Rembert and Fralick were huge parts of the Tigers' success, as they were one of the top seeds in the NCAA Baseball Tournament and hosted their first-ever Super Regional. The future is bright for both players and the Tigers.

Tigers get positive update on Alex Bregman's free agent status
Tigers get positive update on Alex Bregman's free agent status originally appeared on The Sporting News The Detroit Tigers were linked to Boston Red Sox All-Star third baseman Alex Bregman at the trade deadline. While the Red Sox were hot and were far from sellers, the Tigers' interest in Bregman was enough to monitor them come the offseason. If Detroit is looking to bolster the offense and is still interested in Bregman, they will have to hope he opts out of his $40 million 2026 player option. According to R.J. Anderson of CBS Sports, Bregman could hit the open market. "Bregman will presumably take advantage after a season that has him on pace to set new career-high marks in both pulled fly ball rate and hard-hit percentage (up nearly seven percentage points from last year) -- if only to land a longer term." Anderson writes. If the Tigers can join the Bregman free agent sweepstakes, then a potential deal is well within the cards for Detroit. They need a new third baseman, and Bregman would be an incredible pickup for such a role. Bregman hitting free agency would mean he's turning down $40 million per season to look for a longer-term deal. Detroit would have to make a massive commitment to Bregman, but the Tigers, with a lot of young prospects coming up through the system, have the financial leeway to swing such a huge deal. MORE: Tigers lost out to Mets on trade for Cardinals' Ryan Helsley While the ownership group could decide not to spend big, if they do, Bregman is likely one of the options they could use their money on. As Anderson mentioned, Bregman is setting new career highs in two key statistics. Those two, while not as prominent as OPS or batting average, indicate that not only is Bregman hitting the ball as hard as he's done in his career, but he's also pulling the ball. The two combine to create an environment for more home runs from Bregman. Even though Bregman is 31 years old, the Tigers should be willing to spend a fortune on Bregman in the offseason. He'd dramatically improve the Tigers' offense, and this article from Anderson opens the door to Bregman hitting free agency. After a lackluster trade deadline, the Tigers front office, led by Scott Harris, could get back in the good graces of the Tigers fandom by signing Bregman in the offseason. It'll cost a lot, but Bregman would be a huge boost to the offense, while shoring up the third base spot for the years to come. Why Dabo Swinney believes Clemson football will become first 16-0 team one day
CLEMSON — Dabo Swinney believes Clemson football can be the first 16-0 team in modern college football history. "It's a race to do it. I believe we can do it," Swinney said Aug. 6. "I don't know if this team will do it." Swinney wanted to clear up a quote that was featured in an Aug. 4 ESPN article, where he was quoted "In 2018, we were the first 15-0 team in the history of major college football − ever. And I think we're going to be the first 16-0 team. It's a race to do that." He is reluctant to heap that much praise on this year's team despite Clemson returning more production than any other team in Division I, according to ESPN. The Tigers are No. 6 in the coaches poll and are one of five teams to earn at least one first-place vote. They also have numerous players earning preseason accolades, including quarterback Cade Klubnik, who is viewed as a Heisman contender. Still, Swinney's confidence stems from the Tigers in 2018 becoming the first 15-0 team since 1900 (Penn went 15-0 in 1897). That season, Clemson was No. 4 in scoring average and No. 1 in scoring defense, outscoring opponents by a 31.2-point average, to capture the program's third national championship. "I do believe we can be the first 16-0 team," Swinney said. "We were the first 15-0 team, so why would I not believe that?" For this year's Tigers to achieve a feat last seen since Yale in 1984, they must overcome No. 9 LSU on Aug. 30 (7:30 p.m. ET, ABC) at Memorial Stadium. This will be Clemson's second consecutive season opening the season against an SEC opponent; the Tigers lost 34-3 to No. 1 Georgia in 2024. Swinney emphasized failing to do the "little things,' like committing untimely penalties that ruined momentum or pushed back drives, derailed the Tigers last season. MORE: 4 Clemson football 2026 commits shut down attempts to flip them. What it means for Dabo Swinney Clemson hasn't not won a season-opening game since 2022. The Tigers lost their last three games against SEC opponents, too. Their last regular-season SEC win was against South Carolina in 2023 in their annual rivalry game; their last regular-season non-South Carolina SEC win came in 2019 against Texas A&M. Dabo Swinney on Peter Woods' absence, Jeadyn Lukus, Khalil Barnes injuries Clemson entered preseason practice in a "good spot," per Swinney, but the wear and tear is taking a toll on the Tigers. One concern was defensive tackle Peter Woods, who was not present for Clemson's practice, but Swinney said he was out because he was sick. However, Swinney announced running back Jarvis Green likely will miss the 2025 season after suffering a foot injury that will require surgery. Now, Clemson's running-back room features projected starter Adam Randall, Keith Adams, David Eziomume and freshman Gideon Davidson. Jay Haynes is still wearing a green jersey (limited participation) as he recovers from a torn ACL. Other key players who were out were cornerback Jeadyn Lukus and safety Khalil Barnes. Lukus was in a yellow non-contact jersey after he wore one Aug. 1. Barnes wore one, too, after being healthy for Clemson's first two practices. Offensive lineman Collin Sadler was in green, allowing Harris Sewell to work with the first-team unit. The good news was tight end Olsen Patt-Henry was full go after being in yellow to start preseason practice as he recovered from getting his tonsils removed. Clemson QB Cade Klubnik massive favorite to win ACC player of the year in preseason media poll
CLEMSON — Clemson football quarterback Cade Klubnik was picked to win ACC player of the year in the preseason media poll, according to a release from the conference July 31. He received 146 out of 183 votes, far ahead of runner-up Georgia Tech's Haynes King (9). Klubnik returned for his fourth season after throwing for 3,639 yards (10th in the nation) with 36 touchdowns (third) and six interceptions and rushing for 463 yards last season to help Clemson win the ACC championship and return to the College Football Playoff. Klubnik was among multiple Tigers players who returned for 2025 instead of going to the NFL, including wide receiver Antonio Willams and offensive tackles Blake Miller and Tristan Leigh. Clemson also retained talented underclassmen like wide receivers Bryant Wesco Jr. and T.J. Moore and kept third-year offensive coordinator Garrett Riley. Klubnik is Clemson's first player to be voted as the favorite for the award since quarterback Trevor Lawrence in 2020. Lawrence threw for 3,153 yards with 24 touchdowns and five interceptions and rushed for eight scores to lead the Tigers to an ACC championship win and a CFP appearance. Clemson also had 11 players make the preseason All-ACC team, which led the conference. Pitt had the second-most with three. On offense, Klubnik, Williams, Wesco, Miller, center Ryan Linthicum and guard Walker Parks made it. Defensively, edge rusher T.J. Parker, tackle Peter Woods, linebackers Sammy Brown and Wade Woodaz, cornerback Avieon Terrell earned the honor. Clemson had three preseason selections last year. The Tigers went 10-4 in 2024, their 13th time winning at least 10 games in 14 seasons. MORE: Ian Schieffelin, Gideon Davidson among 10 most intriguing Clemson football players in 2025 preseason The preseason selections were conducted by a vote from a media panel, including all credentialed media members at ACC Kickoff.
