Your Freeview TV gets new channel and a trio of changes in latest shake-up
Freeview is refreshing things and here's what's new.
If you have Freeview-powered TV in your living room it's time to check the settings. The popular free-to-view service has just confirmed a number of changes including the launch of a new channel and some updates to the planner.
"On 21 May 2025 some broadcasters are making changes to their channels," Freeview explained.
First, there's that new channel with Freeview announcing that High Street TV is finally coming to its platform. This shopping service has been available on Sky and Virgin Media for a while with it offering shopaholics the chance to buy products 24 hours a day.
"High Street TV is truly multi-channel – we provide the opportunity for customers to purchase our products whenever and wherever most convenient to them," the service explained.
You'll find High Street TV on channel 95.
That new service isn't the only upgrade. It's also been revealed that three current channels are getting a name change.
That means That's Dance (Ch 76) will switch to That's Pride. That's Oldies (Ch 78) changes to That's Summer and That's Dance MCR (Ch 79) is now called That's Pride MCR.
If you want all the new updates on your telly, then you may need to update it.
"You will need to retune to update your TV and keep your channels and TV Guide up to date," Freeview added.
Here's how to retune your devices.
• Press menu on your box or TV remote control
• Select 'set-up', 'installation', 'update' or a similar option. If you're asked for a password, the default code is '1234' or '0000'.
• Select 'first-time installation' (sometimes called 'factory reset', 'full retune' or 'default settings').
•Press 'OK' if your equipment asks if it's OK to delete existing channels and then your retune should start automatically. If you're prompted to, save the channels that are found.

Sky vs BT broadband: Full Fibre price and speed comparison 2025
Broadband providers want YOUR business - so weigh up their deals carefully. This article contains affiliate links. Sky and BT are the two dominant broadband providers in the UK, offering extensive connectivity to most areas of the country at some of the most competitive prices. If you are considering switching your broadband to save money there are a few things you need to weigh up between the two providers and we have some advice on how to find the best option for you. The terminology is simple. Ultrafast broadband is the same as Full Fibre broadband and both are names for something called Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) broadband. It means the fibre cables capable of delivering high speed broadband are connected directly into the home. Full Fibre broadband is faster than partial fibre broadband, which uses fibre cables to a box in the street and then slower copper wire to connect to homes. If you want high speed internet then Full Fibre is the option you should take. BT and Sky both offer several different speeds within the full fibre range with varying top speeds and different price points. Crucially, Sky is offering a switching service that gives you up to £200 to cover your cancellation fees for your existing contract. BT does not offer this directly but you can get up to £300 if you switch to the BT-powered EE broadband packages here. If you are set on Sky or BT then these are the options if you want to get a better deal on your broadband. Sky broadband deals Full Fibre 61 - £25 Full Fibre 75 - £25 Full Fibre 100 - £38 Full Fibre 150 - £26 Full Fibre 300 - £28 Full Fibre 500 - £31 Full Fibre 900 - £42 clickhSky's cheapest broadband package for full fibre costs just £25 for the 61mp/s package but you can pay exactly the same price for the 75mb/s option. It may be better value to upgrade for an extra £1 a month to the 150mb/s package. That will be £26, which is actually £12 a month cheaper than the 100mb/s option, which is the one to avoid with Sky based on price. Faster speeds can be found for £31 (500mb/s) and Sky's top speed broadband is 900mb/s and costs £42 per month. BT Broadband deals Full Fibre 36 - £27.99 Full Fibre 50 - £28.99 Full Fibre 150 - £29.99 Full Fibre 300 - £36.99 Full Fibre 500 - £33.99 Full Fibre 900 - £38.99 BT broadband is a lot more expensive at the slower end of the scale, with its 36 mb/s broadband coming in at the same price as Sky's 300 mb/s option. If you are happier with slightly slower speeds Sky offers lower prices right up to (but not including) the 900mb/s package. However, BT's faster speeds actually offer better value for money than Sky. The 900 mb/s option is £38.99 and that is £3 a month cheaper than Sky's top speed option. 💪 Women 55+ are leading the way in healthy weight loss A major UK study shows that women over 55 are seeing the best results from weight loss jabs like Wegovy and Mounjaro – and it's not just the medication that's working. WNBA player Courtney Vandersloot scores ultimate victory over her wife (and teammate!)
Chicago Sky guard Courtney Vandersloot set a record on Thursday night - at the expense of her wife and longtime teammate. Vandersloot, who tallied 13 points and nine assists in a win against the Dallas Wings, became Chicago's all-time leader in points (3,728) and field goals (1,390). And the previous record holder was none other than her wife, Allie Quigley, who spent 10 seasons with Chicago from 2013 to 2022 - her last year in the WNBA. Vandersloot has also spent the majority of her career with the Sky after being drafted by the franchise in 2011. The now five-time All-Star spent the first 12 seasons of her career in the Midwest before joining the Liberty for two seasons. She re-joined the Sky in February. 'What means the most is my time spent here,' Vandersloot told reporters afterwards, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. ' 'It just speaks to the commitment that I made to the Chicago Sky and their commitment to me as well. They drafted me and let me develop. We had a lot of tough seasons. It wasn't always easy.' While Vandersloot has now overtaken her wife's record, the couple made tons of memories together on the Sky, as they spent 10 seasons as teammates. In 2021, both were a vital part of a championship-winning team, while they were both also All-Stars in 2019. The pair, who were married in 2018, reportedly met in 2013 while traveling back to the US from Europe, where both were playing during the WNBA offseason. According to Sports Illustrated, they were on the same flight and even in the same limousine to Sky physicals, with Quigley hoping to earn a roster spot after getting a training camp invite. They began dating the following September - after that year's WNBA season had concluded - and ultimately got married seven years ago in Seattle. The Sky earned their first win of the season on Wednesday with their victory, and Kamilla Cardoso led the team with 23 points.

Sky giving free WiFi upgrade that will boost connection for millions of homes
It will ensure the most important gadgets in your home get the best download speeds If you're a Sky Broadband customer, you might be in for a treat when it comes to your internet connection. The UK Internet Service Provider (ISP) has announced a handy upgrade that will ensure your most-used devices get the fastest download speeds. The new feature, called Device Priority, does exactly what it claims: it prioritises certain phones, laptops, and tablets over other devices. In practical terms, this means that if you're on an important video call with the office, you can set your laptop to receive the best connection. So, even if the kids start downloading games on their PlayStation consoles, your video call won't start stuttering. "Whether it's wearable tech, home appliances, working from home, 4K streaming or gaming, by prioritising household devices, people can get the most out of their WiFi," Sky explained in an email to the Express. "Other devices will stay active, but the prioritised device will get the best performance." This upgrade is particularly useful, as Sky notes that people are now using more connected devices than ever at home, with the UK average standing at 21 smart devices per household. Many of these devices require large amounts of data to function optimally, and this system should help reduce conflicts and potentially even prevent a few arguments. So, who's eligible for this boost, and how can you activate it? It has been announced that customers with Sky's WiFi Max service can utilise Device Priority from today at no additional charge. If you're a WiFi Max user, you'll locate the settings in the MySky App. Once activated, you will have the ability to prioritise a device in your home for up to 8 hours. This new feature of Sky Broadband's WiFi Max joins other aspects of this service such as Sky's WiFi guarantee, advanced security, parental controls, convenient engineer visits, and Sky Mobile integration. Not got this perk? It can be added for a monthly fee of £4. Sky isn't only a major broadband and TV provider, it also stocks a wide array of tech gadgets, with many of these deals including free gifts for customers. Right now, Sky is giving a free Samsung tablet to people who do one thing. The UK mobile network is gifting customers a feature-rich Galaxy Tab A9+, valued at £259, absolutely free. You might be pondering what the catch is. Obviously, Sky isn't just handing out these devices without expecting something in return. To claim, all you need to do is purchase a Galaxy S25 smartphone on contract, and you'll receive the Tab A9+ as a bonus. Sky Mobile prices for this top-tier phone start from a mere £36 per month, which includes unlimited calls, texts and 3GB of data. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
