‘Driven by revenge after assault, stripping & more, Class XII student fell in terror module handlers' trap'

Time of India22-04-2025

Jalandhar: An 18-year-old youth who is among the 13 suspects arrested recently for allegedly being part of two terror modules, wanted to take revenge on another youth and his associates who had beat him up, stripped him, and after filming these acts, posted the video clips on social media. "Revenge was the word on his lips and in his heart before he was trapped by the handlers of terror modules," said his parents and the village sarpanch.
Coming from a marginal farmer family — his grandfather, father, and paternal uncle jointly own six kanal of land, and his father works in a distillery—Jatinder Singh was a Class XII student at the govt senior secondary school at Lakhan Kalan village of Kapurthala district. He turned 18 on March 2. His life took a complete turn over the last two-three months due to a fight with the group of youths, who, his family says, not only humiliated him but also did not let him appear in the examination properly.
Village sarpanch Kulwinder Singh Sohal, a former Armyman and a retired teacher from the same school, gave details of what Jatinder went through. "He had an affair with a girl, which a youth from the Talwandi Mehma village did not like, and who thrashed him along with his associates. We later learnt that this started began in Jan-Feb, and the uploading of the video clips of his thrashing and humiliation disturbed Jatinder a lot. When I questioned him just before the police took him away, he said he wanted to take revenge. Now we have learnt that he was contacted by a person after seeing his video and was apparently trapped with a promise to help him in taking revenge."
His father, Jaspal Singh, told TOI that Jatinder disappeared from home in the first week of April and then returned. "We are not aware of anything, and we want justice for what he suffered at the hands of the youths," he said, adding that his son was an amritdhari, but around a year back, he removed his kirpan and cut his hair.

His mother, Gurpreet Kaur, said that he once showed her the video of his thrashing and stripping, and he had been taking about avenging this act. "When he returned in the morning of April 16, the family decided that he should be handed over to the police. The village and the family want those who harassed the boy to this extent to be brought to justice," Sohal added.
In the three videos available with the family, a youth being called Bakra can be heard and seen abusing and slapping Jatinder. In one of these videos, a group of at least nine youths, one carrying a gandaasi (a sharp-edged weapon), can be seen abusing and threatening Jatinder.
Announcing the busting of the two terror modules on April 19, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said that these modules were sponsored by the Pak spy agency and being controlled by Babbar Khalsa International, with two key operational nodes—France-based Satnam Singh alias Satta and Greece-based Jaswinder Singh alias Manu Agwan.

HC reduces life terms of 4 convicts in Raisen land dispute murder

Bhopal: The MP high court has commuted the life sentences of four men convicted by a sessions court in Raisen's Bareilly in a 2007 murder case to seven years of rigorous imprisonment, and acquitted three others. The HC held that inclusion of their names in an FIR was an act in afterthought to implicate them in the case. A revision petition filed by Dinesh Singh, convicted for murder of his 'tau' (elder brother of his father) along with 6 other accused, said deceased Madanlal and his son Hoshiyar Singh had come to forcibly evict them from their land despite division of property between Madanlal and his father having already taken place. A quarrel broke out between them, which turned violent and hit by lathis and sticks, Madanlal was killed. He and his son were also injured in the incident. He pleaded that they attacked Madanlal and his son in self defence as they had come to forcibly take possession of their land. The land given to them in the division of property was sold by them and they also kept the tractor, which should have come their way. The division bench of justices Vivek Agarwal and Dev Narayan Mishra found that names of three convicts Bhojraj, Santosh and Ramcharan were not in the FIR initially registered in the village but after Madanlal died in the hospital during treatment, their names were added in the FIR. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 새로 나온 '실비보험' 최적가 가입인기!
