UPDATE: Arrest made in Fourth of July shooting
A 20-year-old Sulphur man has been charged in a Fourth of July fatal shooting.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office spokesperson Kayla Vincent said the shooting happened at about 10 p.m. July 4 in the 1100 block of Allen Street in DeQuincy.
Vincent said when deputies arrived, they found the body of 26-year-old Cortez D. Boston of DeQuincy. Another man, Clint L. Mott Jr., 20, of Sulphur, had also been shot and had been transported to a local hospital prior to deputies arrival.
Vincent said their investigation revealed that Boston and Mott began shooting at each other during an altercation. A warrant was issued for Mott's arrest on Sunday.
At 2:30 p.m. Monday, Mott turned himself in at the sheriff's office. He was arrested and is being booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.
Moss is charged with second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon during a crime of violence. Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $900,000.
The investigation is continuing and more arrests are likely, Vincent said.

AFR: Explosion and fires send 2 people to the hospital
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Wednesday night, a home is left in shambles with pieces of it strewn across a northeast Albuquerque neighborhood. Firefighters said fireworks caused a home to explode, leaving two people injured near Eubank Blvd. and Menaul Blvd. 'You can feel the heat from here,' said Jay Kruger in a Tik Tok video as a loud popping sound could be heard. Black smoke filled the air along Woodland Ave. 'It does appear at this time fireworks were the culprit of this explosion,' said Lt. Jason Fejer, Albuquerque Fire Rescue. 'Oh it's going down,' said Kruger, as the popping noise continued, sounding like fireworks being set off. AFR said the fire destroyed the home where it started and burned the wall of a neighboring home. The explosion that caused the fire charred two vehicles in front of the home, which AFR said is a total loss. The neighboring home, suffered heavy damage mostly from smoke but also flames. While two people were taken to the hospital for burns, AFR said all of their fire fighters are okay. 'The size of this would indicate that these are not recreational fireworks sold at the local vendors,' said Lt. Fejer. Throughout the day neighbors and residents tried to get a glimpse to see if their home is okay. And while most were relieved to find out their homes weren't damaged, it was a different story for Holly Summers. 'I got a call that my neighbor's house was on fire and that my house might be in danger,' said Holly Summers, owner of the neighboring home damaged in the explosion. Summers said she didn't have time to think about her home, she was worried about her dogs in the backyard. 'So I rushed home to get them inside and then found out my house was burned and the explosion was super loud and it scared them.' While she was able to find one of her dogs, the other is still missing. 'She's probably just really terrified. She could have run in any direction from Eubank and Menaul area,' said Summer. Summers is asking everyone to be on the lookout for her white and brindle terrier, Ursy, and if you see her call 311. AFR said they will be working with APD's bomb squad and possibly federal agencies to confirm the cause of explosion and who may be at fault. COLUMBUS, Ohio (WJW) — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine shared an update Saturday about the work the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Ohio Department of Natural Resources are doing in Texas following the devastating and deadly flash flooding over the Fourth of July weekend. Tick-related emergency room visits have doubled: Cleveland Clinic DeWine announced July 7 he'd directed the Ohio State Highway Patrol to send a team of 20 troopers from the agency's Mobile Field Force and several of ODNR's K-9 teams, along with their handlers, to assist with search and recovery missions in hard-hit areas of Texas. The teams updated the governor as they were preparing to begin their fourth day of recovery work along the Guadalupe river. 'Crews from the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Ohio Department of Natural Resources are embedded with the Texas Department of Public Safety in three separate units, combing through the devastation left behind by last week's catastrophic flash floods,' DeWine wrote. 'Our teams – including several ODNR K-9s trained for search, rescue, and recovery missions – have been working long hours in hot temperatures, and I couldn't be more proud of those who volunteered for this mission.' According to DeWine, troopers told him the destruction is unlike anything they've seen, especially in the area of Camp Mystic where nearly 30 campers and counselors were swept away by fast-moving flood waters. Former dispatcher faces charges for 'cruel' call made to citizen 'I thank our Ohio teams for their selfless dedication to the citizens of Texas, and Fran and I continue to pray for everyone impacted by this tragedy,' DeWine's statement said. "That we don't get how it's not reasonable to expect them to be able to watch him every second." The argument ended with her sister saying they "shouldn't even host if we're going to be bad hosts and not make accommodations for our guests.'
