Tourist visits Majorca's 'best beach' and is hit with sad reality

Daily Mirror7 hours ago

Majorca is known for having plenty of beaches, making it popular for sun-seekers and tourists. One influencer visited the "best beach in all of Majorca" and was faced with a problem
Majorca, famed for its stunning beach resorts, sheltered coves, and crystal clear waters, is a top holiday destination. It's especially popular among Brits – and travel is super easy due to the short journey and affordable flights.
However, increasing concerns over the effects of mass tourism are being voiced not only by local residents of Spain but now by tourists themselves. And when an influencer visited the 'best beach in Majorca' recently, this issue was clear. Olly Bowman expressed shock at the sheer number of people crowding a well-known idyllic spot on the Majorcan coastline.

Olly took to Instagram to document his day out. In the short clip, it was clear the sands had become swamped. There was hardly any room to stretch out or stroll, as holidaymakers took up every patch of beach.

In his eye-opening video, he remarked: "There is zero space on the sand."
Venturing into the sea for a swim, the influencer initially celebrated the "perfect temperature" of the water but soon realised that it was, in truth, "a bit chillier" than he had anticipated.
Olly revealed that to enjoy his time on the beach, he had to get creative. He managed to find a tiny spot for his belongings, but ended up having to sit with his legs propped up against a rock due it being "just so crowded".
His Instagram video went viral – and many Majorca locals urged him to remove the beach's name from his post to avoid exacerbating the tourist overflow.
One user remarked: "Beautiful! But if you name the beaches they will even be more crowded."

Another said: "Mass tourism in Majorca is destroying fragile areas that should be protected. Please refrain from sharing the names of these beaches and help us preserve them as much as possible."
The influencer considerately deleted the beach's name from his caption. He elaborated in the comments section: "Everyone requested I remove the name of the beach, very fair.
"I do like to think of myself as someone who can show others cool spots to travel and visit but I see how in this circumstance it's more detrimental than good, so I agree, and have removed the name from the caption."
Majorcans celebrated his response, expressing their gratitude, with one replying: "We appreciate it! I'm Mallorcan, enjoy our island!"
Further viewers commented with expressions of "thank you", "thanks", and "gracias."
The struggle with increased tourism and its impact on the island's beaches is a significant summer issue, as highlighted by another Instagram user who commented: "Thanks for showing reality."

Tammy Hembrow flees Australia with her young children amid split from husband Matt Zukowski

Tammy Hembrow has fled the country after announcing her split from husband Matt Zukowski. The pair are headed for divorce after just seven months of marriage and the fitness influencer has jetted off to New Zealand to rest and recuperate. In post shared to Instagram on Thursday, Tammy announced she was heading to Queenstown with her kids, before sharing footage of the family at the airport. 'Errands before our lil getaway. Honestly this couldn't have come at a more perfect time' Tammy wrote in her caption. 'Guys give me all your Queenstown recommendations' she added alongside a series of images in which she posed alongside her car. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Tammy later uploaded some short videos in which she was at the airport with her children to her Instagram Stories. One clip showed her daughter enjoying a snack and a dance, another showed her son complaining about the price of airport food. It comes a day after Tammy revealed that she feels 'lost' after announcing her split. The influencer is looking toward the future and hopeful she can rebuild from the ashes, she told her fans on Instagram. 'I feel like I've lost myself a thousand times… and each time I've found something new. So here's to that' she wrote in her caption. The comment came alongside a carousel of images of Tammy enjoying an iced drink with what appeared to be a friend. She also shared an inspirational quote that read: 'You're not in this season by accident'. Tammy earlier shared an emotional update following her painful breakup. The 31-year-old admitted she has been getting headaches from constantly crying after announcing she was getting a divorce. 'I think I am getting extra headaches at the moment because I'm a cry baby,' she said in a video shared to her Instagram Story. Tammy announced her shock split from Matt in an emotional video on Sunday. The Love Island Australia star also revealed the couple's separation in a sombre Instagram Story, telling fans the decision was not taken lightly. 'It's with a heavy heart I share that Tammy and I have decided to separate,' Matt began. 'Both of us have struggled with making this decision, however we need to do what is right for ourselves and her three children. 'This wasn't a decision we took lightly. Our time together will always be cherished and never forgotten,' he added, before thanking fans for their support and asking for privacy. Despite their short-lived marriage, both parties have asked for privacy as they adjust to life post-breakup. 'We appreciate everyone's support and space at this time as we navigate the split,' Matt concluded in his emotional post. Tammy later addressed the split in an emotional TikTok video, telling fans she would be getting a divorce. 'I don't want to get into the details and I want to be sensitive to everyone involved,' she told fans. 'Obviously when you marry someone, you do it thinking that it is going to be forever and I blame no one but myself,' Tammy continued while breaking down in tears. 'I've made not the best choices when it comes to relationships. I'm good at putting on rose-coloured glasses. 'Obviously the worst part for me is that I have kids. I don't care about me, I know I will be okay, but I feel awful.' The news came less than 24 hours after Matt was spotted spending time with sports journalist Tayla Little at the London Tavern in Melbourne on Saturday night. Tammy first sparked concern in March after she was spotted crying in a bathroom, while Matt was later overheard allegedly ' talking crap' about his wife at a South Melbourne gym. In the weeks that followed, Matt quietly moved out of the couple's Queensland home and relocated back to Melbourne, where he resumed working for his father's pool business. While Matt continued to co-host his podcast Where's Your Head At? with ex-girlfriend and fellow Love Island alum Anna McEvoy, Tammy was noticeably absent from his social media. Meanwhile, the Gold Coast-based influencer has remained in Queensland with her three children - son Wolf, nine, daughter Saskia, seven, and toddler Posy, three - from previous relationships. Matt was notably missing from several major family events over the past two months, including Tammy's 31st birthday, Posy's fairy-themed third birthday party, and even Easter weekend. Tammy and Matt tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony at Château Du Soleil in Byron Bay on November 23. They got engaged in December 2023 following just three months of dating. The jet-setting pair were engaged in the Maldives, before heading off to Greece and Bali for luxury holidays.

Watch Kim Jong-un take in the fun at North Korea's ‘Benidorm' to FINALLY open next week… & Brits have signed up to visit

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un toured the site and made a grand speech at a ceremony on Tuesday. Footage shows him beaming in front of jack-rabbiting crowds and taking a seat to watch "volunteers" fly down waterslides. Kim declared that the completed project would go down as 'one of the greatest successes this year' and hailed the site as 'the proud first step' towards a thriving tourism industry. read more in world news SOS PLEA Moment missing Brit castaway waves desperately at passing ship after 5 days at sea The only hitch is that very few foreigners are actually allowed into North Korea. Foreign visitors are almost exclusively Russian, reflecting Kim's bromance with Vladimir Putin. After a total shutdown during the pandemic, Pyongyang opened the border to Russian tourists in February 2024. Before Covid, Chinese group tours made up 90 percent of North Korea's overseas tourism, but that inflow is still being heavily limited. But Kim plodded on with the project, and visited one numerous occasions to monitor progress. He was pictured strolling along the beach with his daughter Ju-ae at the end of last year. When word spread that the resort was almost ready, holiday planners On The Beach opened a link for people to express their interest - and it racked up more than 250 sign-ups from Brits within a month. Greg Scarlatoiu, director of the Committee for Human Rights in North Korea, said a trip there would be unsafe and immoral. He said: 'The Wonsan-Kalma resort was built with forced labour. Vacationing there is morally and ethically wrong – it is truly an abomination. 'Having Russian nationals vacation there is testament to the pathetic isolation of both Russia and North Korea.' Past tourists in the country have even lost their lives. Greg gave the example of Otto Warmbier, an American student arrested on dubious charges during a trip to Pyongyang in 2016. 'I'm a Brit living in Benidorm and these activities are a waste of money'

Harry Poulton lives in Benidorm, Spain, and has said there are some activities aimed at tourists that he would never spend his money on - including one he 'regrets' doing For some, going on holiday is just about lounging in the sun and reading a good book, but for others, no trip is complete without taking in all the sights and getting stuck into some activities you'd never do at home. How you choose to spend your holiday is up to you, but one Benidorm local has urged people to consider how they spend their money. Benidorm, a Spanish resort town in Alicante, is one of the most popular holiday destinations for Brits looking to soak up the sunshine. But if you're planning on heading there this summer, a British man who has moved out there permanently has said there are some tourist attractions he would never waste his money on - and he would urge others to steer clear, too. ‌ Harry Poulton, known on TikTok as Harry Tokky, claimed there's plenty to love about Benidorm, but there are some activities on offer that are too expensive for what you get, as you could have a better experience elsewhere for cheaper. ‌ First up on his list, Harry took aim at parasailing trips. He said it was "absolutely awful" when he tried it out, and for the 300-400 euros it usually costs, you could have much more fun "getting absolutely hammered" in a pub. He said: "Absolutely awful. I couldn't think of anything worse than spending three or four hours in the middle of the ocean getting absolutely hammered. "I'd much rather save the 300 or 400 euros and get hammered in an actual bar on land here in Benidorm. Definitely one to avoid in my opinion." Harry also told tourists to skip the banana boating if they already have sunburn. He said the inflatable banana-shaped boats are "great fun" for most people, but if you're "red raw with sunburn" you should definitely consider doing something else. He added: "Take it from me - don't go on a banana boat if you're red raw with sunburn. It's the worst thing you can ever do. It's so painful. They're great fun, but if you're a wimp like me, you don't want to be going around on one when you get a sunburn - trust me. ‌ "You'll regret it the next day." And as for the activity that Harry would describe as the "worst money" he's ever spent, the Benidorm local admitted it was paragliding - and it's something he'll never do again. ‌ He noted: "I'm speaking from experience. That was the worst water sports I have ever done in my whole entire life. Fifteen minutes of pure hell. It was awful. "I was up there throwing up, begging to come down, and no one would get me down because they couldn't hear a word I was saying. If you're scared of heights or if you get seasick, I would avoid parasailing. It's the worst money I have ever spent." Harry regularly shares his travel tips on social media, but some commenters have been less convinced about his activity recommendations. One person argued that parasailing is "fantastic fun," while another called Harry a "fun sponge" for criticising several popular attractions around Benidorm. No matter what activities you choose to do on holiday, it's always worth doing your research into the activity itself and any past reviews before you part with any money.
