Patrick Robinson's 99-yard pick-six off of Michael Vick is the Saints Play of the Day

We've got 99 days to count down until the New Orleans Saints kick off their 2025 regular season with a home game against the Arizona Cardinals, which means that Patrick Robinson's 99-yard pick-six is the Saints Play of the Day. Robinson gave the team a rare spark in what had been a brutal 2012 season, which you can watch here.
With the Philadelphia Eagles (led by ex-Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick) driving down to the Saints' goal line on Monday Night Football, Robinson stepped up to intercept a pass deflected off of tight end Brent Celek's hands. But he wasn't done yet. Robinson went streaking down the sideline with a convoy of teammates blocking for him, covering 99 yards to put the night's first points on the board.
Talk about a tone-setter. Robinson's heady play gave the Saints an early lead in a game that proved to be, well, not very competitive. The Saints took care of business against the Eagles in a 28-13 win in prime time. A few years later Robinson signed with the Eagles in time for their 2017 Super Bowl run, but he finished his career where it started by returning to New Orleans for a few years and retiring in 2020. It wasn't quite the career anyone envisioned when the Saints drafted him in 2010's first round, but Robinson ultimately did pretty well for himself.

Jakorian Bennett shows starting cornerback potential in Eagles' preseason loss to Browns
Bennett may be closing in on the CB2 job after an impressive outing vs. Cleveland The Eagles' cornerback battle opposite Quinyon Mitchell is still ongoing, with Kelee Ringo, Adoree' Jackson, and Jakorian Bennett all vying for the job. Bennett entered the competition late, but he may be leading the race after Philadelphia's preseason game vs. the Cleveland Browns. Bennett had several quality reps against the Browns' receivers on Saturday. In the first quarter, he kept up with Dionate Johnson downfield after a double move and made slight physical contact, but no call was made. Later in the second quarter, Bennett showed his closing speed while breaking up a pass intended for rookie wideout Gage Larvadain. Bennett's ability to make up ground makes him an intriguing option at cornerback. Ringo and Jackson have failed to impress so far in camp, allowing the former Raider to seize his opportunity. "I'm a person that loves to prepare and that needs preparation. I'm going to do everything I need to do to study the right way and just catch up to where the guys are right now," Bennett said after the trade "I'm just trying to be the best version of JB. I know the player I can be and whatever that is, that's football. That's my goal: Be the best version of myself." Bennett left the game in the first half with an apparent left arm injury but later returned.

K.J. Henry Lifts Dillon Gabriel-led Browns to Preseason Win vs. Eagles
The Cleveland Browns had to turn to other quarterbacks with rookie Shedeur Sanders injured. The decisive touchdown came on defense instead of from relief quarterbacks. K.J. Henry returned an interception 45 yards for a score in the third quarter to send the Browns to a 22-13 preseason win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday. In a game missing almost all regular-season starters on both sides — Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley sat out for the defending Super Bowl champions while Myles Garrett and Jerry Jeudy rested for the Browns — the Eagles got a better look at their draft picks fighting for playing time. Andrew Mukuba returned an interception 75 yards for a score and recovered a fumble, and Jihaad Campbell had a sack, an impressive showing for the Eagles' top two 2025 draft picks. Maybe somewhere actor Matthew McConaughey was impressed. McConaughey, a Texas Longhorns superfan, had a social media post in support of Mukuba when the safety was drafted out of Texas in the second round. Mukuba missed time early in training camp with a shoulder injury and returned only in the last few days to take first-team reps. He was in the right spot to pick off a pass from Dillon Gabriel. Mukuba took it all the way for the 75-yard score and a 7-6 lead. He added a fumble recovery later and broke up a pass in the second half, the kind of plays needed to close the gap in his competition with Sydney Brown for the starting spot. Campbell, a linebacker out of Alabama selected 31st overall, sacked Gabriel on the second play of the game. The Eagles just may have found two more defensive gems to make meaningful contributions in their pursuit of another title. The Eagles and Browns both played it safe with their starters after the two teams held a pair of joint practices earlier in the week. Sanders hurt his oblique in the first practice and did not play Saturday. The Browns started Gabriel, a third-round pick who worked his way back into the lineup after he had been sidelined with an injured hamstring. Gabriel was 13 of 18 passing for 143 yards and the pick-6. Tyler "Snoop" Huntley played in the second half and was 10 of 13 for 71 yards. Dorian Thompson-Robinson threw a pick-6 to Henry that gave Cleveland a 19-13 lead in the third. Thompson-Robinson was replaced by Kyle McCord, another 2025 draft pick, in the next series. McCord, who is from nearby Mount Laurel, New Jersey, and was raised as an Eagles fan, threw a touchdown pass and threw for 47 yards overall. The Eagles had just 88 total yards. Sanders, who covered his head with a towel as he watched from the sideline, didn't play after he sustained an oblique injury during drills ahead of practice Wednesday. The Browns said he is day to day. Sanders completed 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards with two first-half touchdown passes to Kaden Davis in his NFL preseason debut in a win in the opener over Carolina. The 40-year-old Joe Flacco, in the mix to start the season opener, also sat out. And Kenny Pickett didn't play as he recovers from a hamstring injury. Yes, Thompson-Robinson threw the pick-6, but he wasn't helped by a high snap from Brett Toth. Toth played at center and Drew Kendall was at left guard as the Eagles tried to get by without the injured Landon Dickerson. Dickerson has been sidelined since he suffered a right knee injury at an open practice. The Eagles have not given a timeline for his absence or ruled him out for the season opener. The Browns host the Rams on Saturday. The Eagles play Friday at the Jets. Reporting by The Associated Press. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox? WATCH: Dolphins rookie puts preseason game on ice with ridiculous interception vs. Lions
Undrafted rookie cornerback Ethan Robinson's chances at making the Miami Dolphins' 53-man roster are pretty minimal, but he has a decent shot at earning a spot on SportsCenter's "Top 10" on Saturday night. With the Detroit Lions driving down the field in the final minutes of a preseason game, the Dolphins needed a red zone stop to preserve their 24-17 lead. That's when Robinson abruptly put the game to bed with a ridiculously athletic interception on a blitz off the edge. Robinson, 22, spent three seasons with the Bucknell Bison before finishing his collegiate career with the Minnesota Golden Gophers. While his only season in the Big Ten wasn't enough to earn him a spot at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine or have his name called at the 2025 NFL draft, he received a contract due to his abundance of athleticism. At the Minnesota Pro Day, Robinson recorded an outrageous 42-inch vertical jump that would've finished second among all combine participants behind only Seattle Seahawks second-round pick Nick Emmanwori. Robinson's pretty buried on the Dolphins depth chart, but the raw ability showcased in his game-sealing interception makes a pretty strong case for developing the rookie on the practice squad.
