‘When we have provided a facility, it has to be ensured that it works as well': Gujarat CM's message to officials

When a facility has been created for people's convenience, there cannot be any compromise in ensuring that it is in functioning order. This was the message that Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel gave to officials on Friday as he laid emphasis on maintaining quality in public works being carried out in Gujarat. The CM was addressing a public gathering in Kalyanpura of Santalpur taluka of Patan district where he had arrived to inaugurate or lay the foundation stone of various developmental projects worth Rs 110 crore. The CM said, 'Our budget gets increased and proportionately, we keep on doing developmental works as well. If we put emphasis on quality in whatever work you get done, there will be fewer complaints in monsoon than (we) get (currently).' He further said, 'When we have given a facility, it has to be ensured that the facility works as well. There has to be an effort in that direction as well… you cannot compromise.' The function was also attended by the local MP, MLAs and district office bearers.

Andhra CM Naidu neglected Rayalaseema region: YSRCP

Amaravati, Jul 18 (PTI) Senior YSRCP leader G Srikanth Reddy on Friday alleged that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had neglected the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh, and said that only former CMs YS Rajasekhar Reddy and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had worked for its upliftment. Addressing a press conference in Kurnool, the YSRCP leader alleged that Naidu is making false claims to take credit for the Rayalaseema region. 'Naidu has been neglecting Rayalaseema since long and has been unabashedly making false claims by trying to take credit which is not due," Reddy said. According to the YSRCP leader, Naidu had issued an order back in 1998 to reduce the capacity of Handri-Neeva project and convert it into a drinking water project. After 'dislodging" NT Rama Rao, who conceived Telugu Ganga, Handri-Neeva, and Galeru Nagari projects, Naidu never took them forward as it was not his priority, he alleged. It was only after Rajasekhar Reddy had assumed office that the irrigation works began in the parched Rayalaseema region and he reverted the GO issued by Naidu to increase the capacity of the Handri-Neeva and Galeru-Nagari projects back to 40 TMC from 5 TMC, he said. During Jagan Mohan Reddy's term between 2019 and 2024, he had taken forward irrigation projects worth Rs 40,300 crore and also the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project, which was nearly completed at a cost of Rs 800 crore, he said. The TDP chief is bringing up the Polavaram-Banakacherla project to 'show off', he claimed. Naidu's interest is only in mobilising advances and kickbacks, alleged Reddy, adding that it was Jagan Mohan Reddy who had provided drinking water to Kuppam. There was no immediate reaction from the TDP. PTI STH KH view comments First Published: July 18, 2025, 21:15 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. From free power to makhana board, Nitish hails PM Modi's development push

Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Friday disclosed that the decision to provide 125 units of free power per house in the state was "on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi". While sharing dais with Modi at Motihari, Nitish said, "We respect him (Modi) a lot and we have been working in a manner that is in keeping with his advice." Modi responded to the remark by folding his hands. The CM also thanked Modi for taking time off to visit different parts of Bihar almost every month. Lauding Modi for his assistance in development of Bihar, Nitish said, "PM announced a significant financial package for the state in July 2024 Union Budget, focusing on roads, health, industry, tourism, and flood control. Following this, the Feb 2025 Union Budget included announcements for the establishment of a Makhana Board, an airport, and financial support for the Western Kosi Canal in Bihar." "Recently, the central govt provided Bihar with the opportunity to host the Khelo India Youth Games, which is a matter of pride for the state. I pay my respects to the Prime Minister. He is doing excellent work. I once again extend my greetings and thanks to the PM. He visits Bihar and inaugurates and lays the foundation for various development projects," Nitish said. Assailing his previous Congress and RJD-led govts for poor development, the CM said, "You all know how the condition in the state before 2005 was. No work was done. On Nov 24, 2005, when the NDA govt was formed here, we started working on development. We have been working for the growth of Bihar for 20 years. Earlier, Bihar's annual budget used to be only Rs 24,000 crore. Now it has increased to more than Rs 3 lakh crore. Work is being done in the interest of the people. I thank the Prime Minister for his special attention to Bihar." In his address, PM Modi praised Nitish for his efforts towards the development of Bihar. He said Nitish govt has provided jobs to millions of youths in the state with complete transparency and has also resolved to create employment opportunities on a large scale. "Through the Jeevika Didi scheme, Nitish Kumar has paved the way for women to become self-reliant. The Nitish govt has increased the social security pension scheme from Rs 400 to Rs 1,100 per month, with the money being directly deposited into the beneficiaries' bank accounts. This decision will bring significant relief to the elderly, differently-abled individuals, and widowed sisters," the PM said.
