Nvidia responds to China's 'backdoor' security concerns in H20 chips
As reported by Reuters, China's Cyberspace Administration (CAC) summoned Nvidia to a meeting to address fears that the chips might contain 'backdoors' capable of compromising user data and privacy. However, Nvidia has denied these claims and has revealed that Nvidia's H20 chips do to have any backdoor in their chips that would give anyone a remote way to access or control them.
'In a statement, an Nvidia spokesperson told Reuters, "Cybersecurity is critically important to us. Nvidia does not have 'backdoors' in our chips that would give anyone a remote way to access or control them." The White House and both houses of US Congress have proposed the idea of requiring U.S. chip firms to include location verification technology with their chips to prevent them from being diverted to countries where U.S. export laws ban sales. The separate bills and White House recommendation have not become a formal rule, and no technical requirements have been established.

How China is luring African countries? According to experts, China is offering a major relief to African countries after US President Donald Trump imposed heavy tariffs on their export. Earlier, in June, Beijing announced to eliminate import duties on goods coming from nearly all of its African partners, providing these nations with a never-before opportunity to strengthen South-South trade, as per a CNN report. Why China is investing in Africa? However, many geopolitical analysts are skeptical of China's growing investments in Africa, stating that Beijing's goals are strategic and go well beyond the noble aim of ensuring food security. Several experts claim that China is taking tax-free land on a long lease period to strengthen its hold in Africa and reduce imports from the West, particularly the US. Before the farming deal, China and Angola had an 'infrastructure for oil' exchange deal, but now the African country has shifted focus to agriculture to ensure its economy does not remain dependent on a single resource.

Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI has officially rolled out Grok Imagine, a text-to-video generation tool integrated within the X platform (formerly Twitter).The feature, which was previously being tested with a limited group of users, is now more widely accessible. According to Musk, users can update their X app and request access to the waitlist by navigating to the 'Grok' section in settings and selecting 'Imagine.' 'Grok Imagine is still in early beta, so will improve almost every day,' Musk wrote in a post on X, adding that real-time improvements are expected as the model scales. Grok Imagine allows users to generate videos and still images from text prompts, with videos of up to six minutes in duration. In addition, it can animate static images into moving visuals with synchronized sound, offering creators a more seamless workflow without needing external tools or software. Early users have compared the feature to Twitter's Vine, the once-popular short-form video app that was discontinued in 2017. However, Grok Imagine appears to be aimed at much broader use cases—including entertainment, education, and meme culture—leveraging generative AI for creative expression.
