Kicks Crew taps Dwyane Wade, D'Angelo Russell as investors and brand ambassadors
In this role, Wade will bring his deep-rooted legacy in footwear and global influence through his Way of Wade brand.

Kicks Crew currently serves customers in more than 100 countries and has played a key role in introducing international brands like Way of Wade to a broader global audience. It is also supported by sports icons Damian Lillard and Kyrie Irving.
The new partnership will make its public debut at Fanatics Fest NYC, taking place from June 20 to the 22, where Wade, Russell, and Kicks Crew will host an immersive booth celebrating the legacy of Way of Wade.

"He leaves behind an extraordinary body of work, both as an actor and as a writer that will continue to touch and inspire people for years to come," media quoted the family saying. NBA approves $6.1bn sale of Boston Celtics
"The NBA Board of Governors has unanimously approved the sale of the controlling interests in the Boston Celtics to an investor group led by Bill Chisholm," the league said in a brief statement. "The transaction is expected to close shortly." Chisholm is the managing director and co-founder of Symphony Technology Group. When he and his co-investors agreed to purchase the storied Celtics franchise "at an initial valuation of $6.1 billion," that was the highest ever offered for a North American sports team. It has since been surpassed by the $10 billion sale, in June, of the Los Angeles Lakers by the Buss family to billionaire Mark Walter. When the Celtics sale was announced, it was stated that Wyc Grousbeck would continue in his roles of chief executive officer and governor, overseeing team operations through the 2027-28 season. The Grousbeck family and Steve Pagliuca purchased the Celtics for $360 million in 2002. But US media reported this week that Chisholm -- a Massachusetts native who calls himself a "die-hard Celtics fan" -- will assume the role of governor because under the terms of the deal, Grousbeck will no longer have the required 15% ownership stake the league requires to hold that role. Nevertheless, ESPN reported that Chisholm and Grousbeck "plan to run the team together as originally planned." The Celtics are one of the most storied in the NBA's history, with a record 18 championships, the most recent in 2024.

NBA's 80th season tips off with Rockets at Thunder on October 21
The Thunder will raise their championship banner before reigning NBA Most Valuable Player Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his teammates face the Kevin Durant-led Rockets. The game will be the first of two on opening night for the 2025-26 season with the later start featuring the Golden State Warriors at the Los Angeles Lakers, as Golden State star guard Stephen Curry and Lakers' playmaker LeBron James -- both four-time NBA champions -- meet for the 57th time in their iconic careers. James, a 40-year-old forward, will become the first player in NBA history to compete in a 23rd NBA campaign while teammate Luka Doncic plays in his first season opener as a Laker. Durant, a two-time NBA champion and 2014 NBA MVP, was traded from Phoenix to Houston last month as part of an NBA record seven-team deal. The league also confirmed some other contest dates, including its Christmas schedule, ahead of Thursday's release of the full NBA schedule for the 2025-26 campaign. The December 25 lineup includes five NBA games, starting with Cleveland at New York, the Knicks having made a record 57 Christmas appearances.
