Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In , Soi Cheang Pou-soi made his mark directing innovative low-budget horror films.

1. Horror Hotline … Big Head Monster
Cheang had garnered some attention with the idiosyncratic, ultra-low-budget horror film Diamond Hill in 2000, but it was 2001's Horror Hotline … Big Head Monster that made his name.

It impressed Hong Kong critics because it was a straight-up horror that did not feel the need to mix genres. There was no romance and, most noticeably, none of the distracting comedy often used between scary scenes.
Taking his cue from US horror films like The Blair Witch Project, which he frequently references, Cheang's only aim was to shock.

'If we get to see him, that would be even better, but if not, there's nothing we can do. They never said for sure that he would come ... unlike Messi the last time, when everyone said he was going to play but he didn't in the end,' he said.

First came the investigation in January into Qizhala, the ethnic Tibetan former chairman of the Tibet autonomous region. Then in May, it was the turn of Lan Tianli, the ethnic Zhuang chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. In July, just as Qizhala was being expelled from the Communist Party, Liu Hui, the ethnic Hui former chairwoman of the Ningxia Hui autonomous region, came under investigation for alleged corruption. The three cadres are among just a handful of senior officials from ethnic community groups to have fallen from grace in China in the past few decades. Observers say that the downfall of the officials reflects a broader push for political discipline, signalling that ethnicity-based leniency in elite politics no longer applies. Chinese artist Fan Zeng, 87, ‘taken away' by new wife, valuable works missing: daughter
Prominent Chinese artist Fan Zeng has been 'taken away' by his new wife and most of his valuable possessions have also 'gone missing', his daughter has alleged. 'Rumours have circulated online recently claiming my father, Fan Zeng, was forcibly removed from his home and has since gone missing,' Fan Xiaohui said in a social media post on Saturday. 'As his daughter, I want to first thank everyone for their concern, but I am deeply anxious about his health and safety.' Fan Zeng, 87, announced his marriage to Xu Meng, who is reportedly 50 years his junior, last year. He has been married a few times, and his previous wife died several years ago. Xu is 37 and a TV presenter for state media, according to Chinese media reports. Fan's daughter said she lost track of him after they last met in early July. She had been overseas since but was shocked to find his Beijing house sealed and empty upon her recent return, according to her post.
