'While the entire Baunei Coast is stunning, Cala Goloritzé stands out, thanks in part to its dramatic 143-metre [469-foot] limestone pinnacle, reminiscent of something out of a cathedral. It's clean, the turquoise waters are divine, and boats have to stay at least 600 feet away, keeping the coast free of any traffic or excess noise.
The 50 Best Beaches list was put together by 'judges, Beach Ambassadors, and [the] World's 50 Beaches team.' The site notes that travel professionals are initially asked to vote on the beaches they think deserve recognition. The team then uses those numbers to choose the final ranking, although they also take into account other criteria, including calm waters, unique landscape, wildlife, crowds, and the untouched nature of the beach.
And it doesn't get more pristine than Cala Goloritzé, where a limited number of admission tickets are sold each day. Travelers can book their €7 pass through Heart of Sardinia.
Those who are hiking down to the beach should be prepared for a trek—water, sunscreen, and walking shoes are highly recommended. The Baunei tourism board (Baunei is the closest town to the beach) notes that it'll take around an hour and a half to reach the beach from the Su Porteddu campground, and it's a two-hour journey back. You'll get fewer crowds and 'excellent weather.' The average high in both June and September is around 78 degrees Fahrenheit—perfect for a refreshing post-hike swim in the crystal-clear waters.

Zion Canyon Hot Springs just opened near Zion National Park with over 50 geothermal pools inspired by global destinations. It was built to revive public access to the area's healing waters and create a top-tier hot springs retreat in the U.S. can now soak in Iceland, Japan, and New Zealand—all in the Utah desert. Just minutes from the towering sandstone cliffs of Zion National Park, an unexpected wellness oasis has emerged in the quiet town of La Verkin, Utah. The newly opened Zion Canyon Hot Springs is bringing over 50 geothermal and mineral-rich pools to the desert plateau, including some that mimic the healing waters of faraway destinations like Iceland's Blue Lagoon and the Dead Sea. The pools are fed by the legendary La Verkin Sulphur Springs (aka Pah Tempe) and set against a healing backdrop of crimson canyons and endless sky. Just 30 minutes to the east sprawls Zion National Park, the second most visited U.S. national park in 2024. "It was such an honor to be approached by La Verkin to create this destination and reopen public access to these special waters in recognition of our success launching Iron Mountain Hot Springs in Glenwood Springs, Colorado,' Steve Beckley, co-founder of WorldSprings, said in a press release shared with Travel + Leisure. WorldSprings already operates hot springs in Dallas and the aforementioned facility Glenwood Springs, Colorado, but the new Zion Canyon Hot Springs is its largest property. 'We're excited to open what will be a premier hot springs destination in the U.S. and welcome guests to an oasis where they can relax, rejuvenate, and connect with nature,' Ronald Neumann, the general manager and vice president of Zion Canyon Hot Springs, said in the press release. In addition to providing access to natural hot spring water surrounded by some of the nation's most renowned red-rock views, a day at Zion Canyon Hot Springs is a full-body journey with cold plunges, barrel saunas, an on-site eatery, and a family-friendly freshwater pool. The geothermal pools range between 88 degrees to 104 degrees, with a natural mineral makeup that is said to reduce stress, improve sleep, and enhance recovery. The facility's 16 WorldSprings pools mimic the mineral content of iconic hot springs around the globe, allowing Utah visitors to experience the natural waters of Japan, Guatemala, and New Zealand, among others. Zion Canyon Hot Springs is split into a family and adult-only section. Both sections have natural hot spring pools and barrel saunas, but the family side has a large freshwater pool and a whirlpool, while the adult's side has cold plunges and the 16 WorldSprings-inspired pools. The water is sourced from local natural hot springs that produce around seven million gallons of 107-degree water daily, according to the county water district. Rates for Zion Canyon Hot Springs start at $49 for the adult-only side of the facility and $39 for the family-friendly section. A three-hour reservation to the family section starts at $25 for kids under the age of 13. There are also cabana and towel rentals. How Silversea is streamlining its expedition cruise experience
Teri West Galapagos cruising got cushier this month for those sailing with Silversea's Silver Origin. The cruise line is now providing passengers with charter flights in Ecuador from Quito to San Cristobal Island, a two-hour trip that forgoes the previous layover in Guayaquil. It is becoming ever clearer that Silversea believes luxury in expedition requires eliminating, as much as possible, unpredictability and discomfort before and after the cruise. For Antarctica cruises, the line offers charter flights from Chile and will soon also host guests before their flight at a Silversea-built and owned hotel. In the expedition space, the trick in crafting the journey is leaving room for error, so Silversea's pre- and post-cruise services are a true value, said David Lauwers, a luxury cruise and expedition travel advisor at Q Cruise + Travel. "It's padding out an expedition," he said. "It isn't like going to Europe, where you can get on the next flight, there's loads of carriers and it's not a problem." Lauwers said he likes to direct clients toward Silversea because it eliminates so many of the logistical challenges involved in ensuring his customers are aboard the ship when it leaves the homeport. The services also differentiate Silversea from competitors, and once guests try the Silversea flights there is a high satisfaction rate, Lauwers said. They find the plane ride to be an exciting kickoff for the cruise itself, with Silversea-branded napkins and menus and the opportunity to commune with fellow passengers. "They love that they're all Silversea guests, because they can all chat and talk about the trip, especially on the return," he said. Silversea president Bert Hernandez said the company is focused on evolving. "This enhanced guest journey to the Galapagos reflects this dedication -- streamlining every touchpoint to make visiting this bucket list destination more accessible and seamless than ever," he said. "We always put the guest at the center of everything we do, creating opportunities for deeper connections to the destination, and this is one more way we're leveraging our deep expedition and destination expertise to further elevate the Silversea experience." Lauwers said he expects other cruise lines to take a wait-and-see approach in deciding whether to operate their own Galapagos charter flights, but those that might consider it would also be in the luxury space. "I think they've got quite a niche in the Galapagos," Lauwers said of Silversea. "I think that'll be a big differentiator for them."
