Recent Iowa basketball visitor among NBPA Top 100 Camp Risers
The Iowa men's basketball team is entering the 2025 season with a new head coach for the first time since 2010 and hopes are high for the Hawks under Ben McCollum.
While McCollum is bringing in a huge transfer class this year, he's only recruited two true freshmen to the class so far. But, McCollum is already getting to work on the 2026 class, sending offers to several highly talented players. And one of those players just saw his stock rise.
The NBPA Top 100 Camp takes place every year and invites the top high school players from around the country to come and show coaches and scouts what they can do. It's a chance for stocks to rise and for offers to start flooding in to these players. And that's exactly what happened for one Iowa 2026 target.
McCollum and the Hawkeyes recently had four-star small forward prospect Colin Rice in for a visit on June 4.
The 6-foot-7, 180-pound small forward from Waukee Northwest High School in Iowa has five Power Four offers from Iowa, Northwestern, Nebraska, Colorado and Illinois.
Rice participated in the NBPA Top 100 Camp last week and flourished, catching the attention of plenty of scouts including Jamie Shaw of On3, who included Rice among his five major stock risers from the event (subscription required).
The positional size pops quickly when watching Colin Rice. Once the ball tips, you see the athletic fluidity and the comfort he has with the ball in his hands. Rice has solid length with legit size. He is comfortable on the ball, getting to spots off a dribble or two, and he has a smooth shooting stroke with range off the bounce or off the catch. Gaining strength with be the next steps for Rice, and with that might come better balance to find production in his advantages created in the half-court. The shooting stroke was true this week, and the upside is intriguing.
His recruitment leveled up toward high majors in May when he saw Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois and Colorado each jump into the mix.- Jamie Shaw, On3
Since that Iowa visit on June 4, Rice has since visited Nebraska and has a visit with Northwestern scheduled for June 29.
During his junior season at Waukee Northwest, Rice helped lead the Wolves to a 22-4 record and an appearance in the Class 4A state championship game, where they lost to Valley, 61-47. Rice averaged 14 points and eight rebounds per game in 2024-25 and will look to take on a bigger role during his senior season.
McCollum and the Hawks want to keep the one of the fastest-rising recruits in the 2026 class in state, but Iowa will have to deal with plenty of competition following Rice's performance at the NBPA Top 100 Camp.

OU picks up commitment from four-star EDGE rusher
Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners picked up their sixth four-star prospect in the 2026 recruiting class on Monday when defensive end Daniel Norman committed to play for the Sooners. Norman, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound EDGE rusher from St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is ranked No. 54 in the state of Florida. He chose Oklahoma over Miami (FL), LSU, Penn State, and others. At On3, the Hurricanes had been tabbed as the team most likely to land Norman. The newest Sooner plays for the same high school that helped produce former OU star and current Denver Broncos star Nik Bonitto. OU now has the No. 21-ranked class in the 2026 cycle, according to On3. Norman's commitment came just three days after the Sooners picked up quarterback Bowe Bentley, one of the top 100 players in the country, and on the same day, Oklahoma picked up a commitment from linebacker Beau Jandreau from Arizona. Oklahoma now has 12 commitments in the class. Those 12 players rank the Sooners ninth out of the 16 teams in the SEC thus far in On3's rankings. OU ranks ninth, as well, in 247's SEC rankings, as well. The class is currently made up of seven defensive players and six on offense. Norman registered 30 tackles and seven sacks for St. Thomas Aquinas in his junior season last year. Auburn, Florida and Tennessee are among the SEC teams that visited Barnett before he committed to Illinois. Alabama's 2026 class now consists of nine hard commitments. Barnett is the third player in the past week to announce a commitment to the Crimson Tide and coach Kalen DeBoer. He joins 3-star Indianapolis defensive lineman JJ Finch, who committed on Sunday, and four-star quarterback Jett Thomalla, the No. 15 overall QB in the 2026 class who flipped from Iowa State. Alabama flips second class of 2026 recruit from the Big Ten in one day
Hours after Alabama football flipped four-star running back Javari Barnett from the Illinois Fighting Illini on Monday, coach Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide have flipped another player who was committed to a Big Ten program. That player is 3-star recruit Rihyael Kelley, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound safety out of Cincinnati who had previously committed to Greg Schiano and Rutgers football. On3's Hayes Fawcett reported the news. Advertisement While not as big a name as others on Alabama's 2026 recruiting board, Kelley is the No. 81 safety in 247Sports' Player Rankings. Most of his offers outside of Rutgers came from Group of Five schools: Toledo, Bowling Green, and James Madison among them. Kelley is the 10th hard commitment in Alabama's 2026 class. He's the fourth player in the past week to commit to the Crimson Tide and joins Barnett, 3-star defensive lineman JJ Finch (Warren Central High School, Indianapolis), and four-star quarterback Jett Thomalla (Millard South High School, Omaha), the No. 13 overall QB in the 2026 class per On3. Thomalla flipped his commitment to Alabama from Iowa State last week, while Finch committed to the Crimson Tide on Sunday over offers from Tennessee, Miami and Michigan. Alabama's 2026 class is ranked No. 11 by On3's Team Industry rankings.
