Palestinian resistance factions mourn SC of Mujahideen movement

Gaza - Saba: The Palestinian resistance factions have mourned the martyrdom of Commander Asaad Attiya Abu Sharia, Secretary-General of the Mujahideen Movement and Commander-in-Chief of its Brigades, and his brother, Commander Ahmed Attiya Abu Sharia, a member of the Mujahideen Movement's General Secretariat, responsible for the Gaza Strip, and its representative in the resistance factions. Both were martyred in the Battle of al-Aqsa Flood after a rich and blessed jihad. The factions affirmed in a statement issued on Sunday that the martyrdom of the leaders will not weaken our resolve or that of the resistance factions, but rather will increase our determination and resolve to continue the path of jihad and martyrdom, which they followed until this Nazi occupation was defeated and swept away from our land and holy sites. On Saturday evening, the Mujahideen Movement announced the martyrdom of its Secretary-General Asaad Attiya Abu Sharia and his brother, a member of the movement's General Secretariat, Ahmed Abu Sharia, following an Israeli assassination operation in the Sabra neighborhood south of Gaza City. In a statement, the Mujahideen mourned its Secretary-General, describing him as "one of the pillars of jihad and resistance in Palestine, one of the pillars of the Islamic project in the nation, and the commander-in-chief of the movement's military wing." Yemen : Houthis say ready to swap all prisoners with govt

Yemen's Houthi group announced on Friday its readiness to exchange all prisoners with the Yemeni government, a significant proposal put forward by the group since the outbreak of the civil war in late 2014. The Houthi-run Saba news agency cited a statement by Abdul Qader al-Murtada, head of the Houthis' committee for prisoners' affairs, as saying that the group is prepared to carry out "a full exchange process that includes all prisoners from all parties without exception." Al-Murtada called on the Saudi government to pressure the Yemeni government "to respond to the initiative without preconditions." The internationally recognized Yemeni government is yet to comment. The Yemeni government and the Houthi group implemented a UN-mediated major prisoner swap in 2023, exchanging around 900 prisoners. Another major exchange took place in 2020, with approximately 1,000 prisoners and detainees released from both sides. Yemen has been mired in civil war since late 2014, when the Houthi group seized control of much of northern Yemen, forcing the Yemeni government out of the capital Sanaa. Clashes between the Houthis and the Yemeni government have diminished since April 2022, following a UN-mediated truce.

Al Qaeda's Yemen branch chief threatens Trump, Musk over Gaza war

The leader of Al Qaeda's Yemen branch has threatened both United States President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk over Israel's war on Gaza in his first video message since taking over the group last year. The half-hour video message by Saad bin Atef al-Awlaki, which spread online early Saturday via supporters of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, also included calls for lone-wolf militants to assassinate leaders in Egypt, Jordan, and the Gulf Arab states over the war, which has decimated Gaza. The video of al-Awlaki's speech showed images of Trump and Musk, as well as US Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of State Pete Hegseth. It also included images of logos of Musk's businesses, including the electric carmaker Tesla. 'There are no red lines after what happened and is happening to our people in Gaza," al-Awlaki said. "Reciprocity is legitimate.' Though believed to be weakened in recent years due to infighting and suspected US drone strikes killing its leaders, the group known by the acronym AQAP had been considered the most dangerous branch of Al Qaeda still operating after the 2011 killing by US Navy SEALs of founder Osama bin Laden. In 2022, a US drone strike in Afghanistan killed bin Laden's successor, Ayman al-Zawahri, who helped plot 9/11. The Sept. 11 attacks then began decades of war by the US in Afghanistan and Iraq, and fomented the rise of Daesh. Call for attacks Al-Awlaki already has a $6 million US bounty on his head, as Washington says al-Awlaki 'has publicly called for attacks against the United States and its allies.' He replaced AQAP leader Khalid al-Batarfi, whose death was announced by the group in 2024. AQAP's position on the Israel-Hamas war mirrors that of Yemen's Houthis. The Iranian-backed group has launched missile attacks on Israel and targeted commercial vessels moving through the Red Sea corridor, as well as American warships. The US Navy has described its campaign against the Houthis as the most intense combat it has faced since World War II. The Trump administration also launched its own intense campaign of strikes on the Houthis, which only ended before the president's recent trip to the Middle East.
