picked a perfect time to launch his first career walk-off homer, lifting the

to a thrilling 4-3 victory over the
Texas Rangers
on Wednesday night. With one out in the bottom of the ninth, the 21-year-old phenom crushed a 2-0 pitch from Luke Jackson into the second deck at

win
The dramatic finish capped off a gutsy comeback by the Yankees, who had struggled for most of the night against Texas ace Jacob deGrom. Making his much-anticipated return to New York, deGrom dazzled with a vintage performance—striking out nine over seven dominant innings while allowing just three hits and one walk. He appeared poised to secure his fifth consecutive win, but the Yankees had other plans.
Trailing 3-1 at the seventh-inning stretch, the Yankees found life when Cody Bellinger led off the bottom of the frame with a solo homer off deGrom, cutting the deficit to one.
Bellinger's blast not only sparked the rally but also extended his personal hitting streak to a career-best 15 games.
In the eighth, Aaron Judge delivered the game-tying blow with a clutch RBI single off Jackson. That set the stage for Domínguez, who stepped into the spotlight in the ninth. After turning on Jackson's 2-0 offering, Domínguez rounded the bases in triumph and was swarmed by teammates at home plate. Judge and Anthony Volpe gave him the signature Gatorade shower as he spoke during his postgame interview.

"That's the moment you dream about growing up," Domínguez shared with a wide smile after the game.
The victory marked the Yankees' third straight win and their 10th in the last 13 games, pushing them a season-high 10 games over .500. It also sealed their fifth consecutive series win, showcasing the team's newfound consistency and late-game resilience.
Jake Burger had provided Texas with a pair of solo homers—his sixth career multi-homer performance—while Sam Haggerty added a solo shot of his own to give the Rangers a 3-1 lead in the seventh.
But the Yankees bullpen held the line, with Yerry De Los Santos working out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth and Luke Weaver (1-1) locking down the ninth.
Ryan Yarbrough was sharp in his start for New York, allowing just one run over five innings while striking out eight without issuing a walk.
The loss was a bitter one for deGrom, who was making his first appearance in the Bronx since 2018 and first start in New York since departing the Mets in 2022. Remarkably, it was the 37th time since 2014 that he's pitched at least seven innings, allowed two or fewer runs, and still not earned a win—a stat he now shares with former teammate Max Scherzer.
The Yankees will look to keep their momentum going Thursday as Carlos Rodón takes the mound against Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi, though a looming rainstorm could play spoiler.

New York Rangers call David Quinn to rejoin the team but not as a head coach
It's not everyday that a team calls back former head coach after firing them, and its even rarer to see a team calling back a coach and offer them the role of an assistant coach. The New York Rangers called their former coach, David Quinn to join them, not as a head coach, but as an assistant to Mike Sullivan. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now While the designation of Quinn has been demoted, many expected him not to join the Rangers again. However, it seems Quinn is more than happy to be a part of the New York Rangers. Will this new position affect his performance? Or will he be able to guide the team under Sullivan's umbrella? David Quinn joins New York Rangers as an assistant coach David Quinn was head coach for the New York Rangers from 2018 to 2021, where he guided the team by making important decisions. However, when Chris Drury became the Rangers' General Manager, he fired Quinn from his role, which led to a sour departure on Quinn's side. After getting relieved from the Rangers, Quinn went on to coach the San Jose Sharks from 2022 to 2024, after which he was called back by the Rangers in 2025. But, what made Quinn take this decision/ his last interaction with the Rangers was not exactly roses, but his bond with Mike Sullivan helped the Rangers hire Quinn. Even though the role is smaller than before, it is surprising that Quinn agreed to it. As per news, Joe Sacco and Ty Hennes will fill out the remaining roles. Though it is not made clear as to what designation Sacco and Hennes will get, it is sure that both will be joining the Rangers. The New York Rangers have failed to win the Stanley Cup since 1994. There have been various changes in coaching staff, players, and other tactics were applied, but all to vain. With Mike Sullivan taking on the role of the head coach, there's hope amongst fans that the Rangers will rise again. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Mike Sullivan guided the Pittsburgh Penguins and helped them win two Stanley Cups in 2016 and 2017. Besides, Sullivan had also coached Team USA at the 4-Nation's face off, which gives him an edge over other coaches. Another reason as to why Quinn willingly accepted the demoted role was because he had earlier worked with Sullivan in Pittsburgh and Team USA, both in an assistant role. Also Read:

Breanna Stewart's double-double lifts undefeated Liberty over Mystics
Breanna Stewart's double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds carried the unbeaten New York Liberty to an 86-78 victory over the host Washington Mystics Thursday in the nation's capital. Sabrina Ionescu added 13 points and Kennedy Burke scored 12 for the reigning WNBA champion Liberty , who have won the last six meetings against the Mystics by an average of nearly 12 points. The Liberty played most of the game without starter Jonquel Jones, who injured her ankle while going up for a shot late in the first quarter and did not return. She came in averaging 15.7 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. Kiki Iriafen poured in 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Mystics , who have lost three in a row and six of their last seven overall. Jade Melbourne finished with 15 points as well and Sonia Citron added 13. Washington trailed by as many as 16 but were within 81-77 with 1:53 to go after Shakira Austin's layup. But three free throws by Stewart, who was 10-of-13 from the line, helped the Liberty seal the deal. The game counted in the Commissioner's Cup standings, with New York improving to 2-0. Washington dropped to 0-2. A 3-pointer from Ionescu with 7:57 left in the opening quarter gave the Liberty a 5-2 lead but the Mystics eventually tied it at 10-10 with 4:43 to go on a jumper from Stefanie Dolson. Ionescu and Citron traded 3-pointers as the two teams were knotted at 13-13 with a little over three minutes to go. Iriafen, the rookie of the month in May, scored inside and then made a free throw for a 16-13 Mystics lead at the 2:15 mark. She finished with 11 points in the quarter, including two off free throws with 17 seconds left that helped Washington close on a 12-4 run and lead 22-17 after one. The Liberty took the lead back at 28-27 with 6:03 left in the half as Leonie Fiebich drove in for a layup. Shots from distance by Rebekah Gardner and Fiebich soon followed, extending the lead to 36-29. New York grabbed its first double-digit advantage of the night at 42-31 when Ionescu pulled up for a jumper with 1:49 to go. Burke capped a big second quarter for the Liberty when she buried a 3-pointer from the corner with 20 seconds left as New York soared into halftime with a 49-34 lead, outscoring the Mystics 32-12 in the period. The Mystics closed the gap to 51-42 with 6:42 to play on a shot by Dolson but Burke answered with her third 3-pointer of the game to push the lead back to double digits. New York made 10 3-pointers, negating the Mystics' 46-24 scoring advantage in the paint. Field Level Media

Oswaldo Cabrera's brutal ankle injury could end 2025 hopes — but he's not giving up just yet
After nightmare injury, Oswaldo Cabrera holds onto faint chance of playing in 2025 season (Getty Images) The New York Yankees' promising third baseman Oswaldo Cabrera may be facing a long road to recovery, but he refuses to let go of his dream to return to the diamond before the 2025 MLB season concludes. Despite undergoing ankle surgery in May after a freak accident at home plate, Cabrera's optimism remains unshaken. 'Small possibility' still fuels Oswaldo Cabrera's dream of returning to Yankees in 2025 The 23-year-old sustained the injury during a May 12 clash against the Seattle Mariners. While trying to ensure he had tagged home plate following a sacrifice fly, Cabrera's cleat got stuck in the dirt, leading to a devastating fracture in his left ankle. The play ended with him being carted off the field in an ambulance, his leg in an air cast, and the Yankees' dugout struck by concern. The injury also involved ligament damage, further complicating his recovery. Post-surgery, manager Aaron Boone was cautious with expectations, stating it was "probably unlikely" Cabrera would see action again this year. But Cabrera has a different mindset. 'That is a small possibility, but a small possibility that I trust that one,' he said. 'So I'm a very optimistic guy that feels like good things can be on my way. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 새로 나온 '실손보험' 최적가 즉시가입! Oswaldo Cabrera injury update (Getty Images) That sense of determination has kept him motivated during rehab. 'I want to [play], obviously,' Cabrera told 'I'm not happy to be here and not playing. To be with my guys and watch them, I'm happy to watch what they are doing out there, but I want to be with them outside. That's my motivation that I have, to do my things to get back sooner.' Cabrera's grit hasn't gone unnoticed. Boone acknowledged the young infielder's work ethic, saying, 'I don't think we're necessarily expecting it, but you never know how he heals over the next couple of months. I know one thing with Oswaldo, there's not a better person who loves this as much as him. I know he's going to pour everything into the rehab process and healing.' Before the injury, Cabrera had posted a .243 batting average with a .322 on-base percentage, contributing one homer and 11 RBIs over 34 games. While Oswald Peraza and Jazz Chisholm Jr. have filled in at third base since, Cabrera's potential postseason return—should the Yankees make a deep run—still lingers as a possibility. For now, hope fuels his comeback. And in baseball, hope has led to miracles before. Also Read: Late defensive disaster by Mets hands Dodgers 6-5 comeback win in jaw-dropping turnaround
