Travis Scott, Sexyy Red, and Mariah The Scientist perform at Future's daughter's sweet sixteen in Atlanta

Express Tribune24-03-2025

Future pulled out all the stops for his daughter Londyn Wilburn's sweet sixteen, hosting a star-studded celebration in Atlanta that brought together some of hip-hop's biggest names. Over the weekend, the Grammy-winning rapper marked the milestone birthday with a private concert featuring performances by Travis Scott, Sexyy Red, Mariah The Scientist, and of course, Future himself.
Earlier in the week, Future treated Londyn to an intimate dinner and surprised her with flowers. But the main event was reserved for the weekend—an extravagant affair where guests were treated to live performances and a glimpse into the rapper's love for his family. Notably, Londyn also joined the performers on stage during the celebration.
Despite her father's fame, Londyn has largely stayed out of the spotlight. However, her appearances at high-profile events and on social media have hinted at a growing connection to the music world. As she comes of age, many fans are wondering whether she'll follow in Future's footsteps or carve her own path.
Future, who has eight children, has publicly shared his love and support for Londyn. He previously welcomed children with Ciara and Joie Chavis, among others.
Travis Scott and Future's friendship and musical synergy were also on full display at the bash. The duo have collaborated over the years on numerous tracks, including '3500' from Scott's debut album Rodeo, and 'First Off' from Future's 2019 record The WIZRD. Their chemistry continued with 'Sirens' on Scott's 2023 Utopia album, solidifying their status as two of modern hip-hop's most creative forces.

Sabrina Carpenter's new album cover for "Man's Best Friend" sparks controversy

Sabrina Carpenter's new album cover for Man's Best Friend has quickly become a topic of heated debate across social media. Unveiled during a recent Instagram Live session, the provocative artwork has divided fans and critics alike, with many expressing concern over its imagery. The image shows Carpenter on all fours, with a faceless figure in black slacks gripping her blonde hair, a visual that many fans have described as overly sexual and submissive. Adding to the controversy, Carpenter posted a close-up of a heart-shaped dog collar engraved with the album title, further intensifying the debate. Critics quickly took to social media, with some labelling the imagery as irresponsible, citing concerns over its portrayal of misogyny and violence. Sherri Shepherd reveals identity of actress in tense Broadway confrontation

Sherri Shepherd has revealed that actress Nia Long was the celebrity involved in a tense confrontation during the Broadway opening night of Othello in March—an incident the talk show host previously mentioned without naming names. In a new interview on The Breakfast Club, the 58-year-old comedian and television personality shared that Long allegedly grabbed her at the event and accused her of "shading" her. 'It was Nia Long. I don't know who she had me confused with,' Shepherd said. 'The only time I've ever talked about Nia was when she went through a breakup after infidelity, and I supported her. I've never had a problem with her.' Shepherd first hinted at the altercation earlier this year, recounting on her talk show that the unexpected exchange left her shaken. During the event, she said she waited in the restroom at intermission, hoping to settle the misunderstanding. 'You don't get to pull me and turn me around like we're in a daggone cartoon and then walk away,' she recalled. Long, however, did not return to speak with her. As a longtime stand-up comic, Shepherd explained that she often incorporates real-life moments into her material. 'Everything that happens in my life is material for me. And my comedy stage is my talk show,' she said. She also clarified that she never initially named Long and emphasized that many women were present that night. While she acknowledged feeling disrespected by being physically grabbed, the Emmy-winning host says she bears no grudge. 'I'd love to talk to her and just clear it up,' she said. 'I'm cool. It's done.' Long has yet to publicly address the alleged encounter.

Maybe Happy Ending' wins big at Tony Awards

Darren Criss wins first Tony for best leading actor in Maybe Happy Ending. Photo: File Maybe Happy Ending, a sweet and futuristic story that follows two obsolete helper robots as they navigate isolation, affection, and what it means to be human, was the big musical winner at the Tony Awards on Sunday, capping a record-grossing post-pandemic Broadway theatre season. The show won three big awards, including best musical. Darren Criss won his first Tony for best leading actor in a musical for his role as the innocent Oliver, and its director Michael Arden won the award for best director of a musical. The modern reimagining of Andrew Lloyd Webber's classic Sunset Blvd. also won big, taking awards for best revival of a musical and for Nicole Scherzinger, who stars as the faded movie star Norma Desmond, won best actress in a musical. The Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Purpose won the best play award. Written by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, the play follows a family whose carefully constructed legacy unravels when their youngest son returns home with an unexpected guest, exposing buried secrets and faith-based conflict. Host Cynthia Erivo, the Wicked film star, opened the show at Radio City Music Hall with a walk to the stage from the dressing room that mimicked actor Tom Francis' viral post-intermission live outdoor Manhattan stroll as he sings the title song in Sunset Blvd. Buoyed by a post-pandemic rebound, the 2024-25 season grossed a record $1.89 billion in revenue and drew 14.7 million attendees, the Broadway League said. Cole Escola won the Tony for best lead actor in a play for his creation Oh, Mary! The show, Escola's reimagining of Mary Todd Lincoln's life and relationship with husband Abraham Lincoln, blends historical satire with absurd camp. The show also earned Sam Pinkleton the Tony for best director of a play. TV's Succession star Sarah Snook, who made her Broadway debut this season, won the award for best leading actress in a play for her tour-de-force performance of more than two dozen roles in The Picture of Dorian Gray. The original cast of Hamilton, including the show's creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, reunited to perform an electric medley in honour of the musical's 10th anniversary. The number also served as a reintroduction to Leslie Odom Jr as Aaron Burr, a role he will resume in the production later this year for a limited time. Francis Jue won best actor in a featured role in a play for Yellow Face. He thanked the Asian American actors who came before him and addressed the next generation: "This community sees you and I hope that encourages you to be brave, and to dream and to dream big."
