Former four-star Mississippi State guard Kanye Clary to enter transfer portal
Kanye Clary will be one-and-done in Starkville. The Mississippi State point guard will be entering the transfer portal, per an announcement. He made his intentions known prior to the window opening next week.
Clary came to MSU from Penn State and was a former four-star recruit out of Massanutten Military Academy (Virginia Beach, VA). He initially signed with the Nittany Lions as saw limited time as a true freshman. Bulldogs coach Chris Jans saw him as an option to run the offense, but fell short of expectations after seven games.

At that point, Clary was sidelined due to injury and missed the rest of the season. Many expected he would return for his senior season but that's not the case. He contributed 6.3 points per game during his time with MSU.
At 6-foot and 180 pounds, Clary posted his best year as a sophomore, averaging 16.7 points, which was eighth-best in the Big Ten. He started 20 games before a pair of injuries ended the season in February.
The NCAA transfer portal for basketball opens up on March 24 this year and runs through April 22. The window was moved back one week to allow players participating in March Madness.

Will Penn State trustees remove Barry Fenchak from board? Special meeting scheduled
The Penn State board of trustees scheduled a special meeting for Monday to vote on removing one of its most outspoken board members. The board will meet virtually at 3 p.m. Monday, June 16 to consider a proposal recommending removing trustee Barry Fenchak from the board. A vote in favor of doing so would make Fenchak permanently ineligible to serve on the board again. Fenchak is an alumni-elected trustee whose three-year term expires June 30. He submitted materials and garnered enough signatures to appear on the trustee election ballot to run for a second term, but the board ruled he was unqualified and ineligible to appear on the ballot. He ran an unsuccessful write-in campaign. The board previously tried to permanently remove Fenchak from the board in the fall because of an incident that occurred after the board's July 2024 meeting. Fenchak loosely repeated a quote from the PG-rated movie 'A League of Their Own' in which Tom Hanks' character told a baseball umpire he looked like a 'penis with a little hat on' to a female staff member. A board subcommittee found it to be a code of conduct violation and unanimously recommended his removal. When the board tried to remove him, the issue went to court as part of a lawsuit Fenchak filed against the board. The judge blocked the board from removing him as trustee a day before the vote was scheduled, finding Fenchak had provided 'uncontradicted evidence of a broad pattern of retaliatory behavior' by the board. But the judge, Brian Marshall, lifted that preliminary injunction in May — paving way for his removal — after finding the basis for it had since become moot. He granted the injunction in the fall after Fenchak showed the board was trying to remove him in retaliation for his repeated requests for information, namely the university's approximately $4.57 billion endowment and a reportedly $1 billion athletic department contract with a ticketing and fan engagement agency. But in the seven months since, Fenchak was given 510 pages of information related to the endowment and a complete, unredacted copy of the contract with Elevate. He can no longer claim he is subject to removal from the board because of those specific requests, Marshall wrote in his ruling. Reporter Bret Pallotto contributed to this report.

Key contract detail suggests Adam Nightingale will be with MSU hockey for long haul
Key contract detail suggests Adam Nightingale will be with MSU hockey for long haul Michigan State hockey head coach Adam Nightingale officially signed a new deal with the program on Friday, and there's a new detail in the contract that should help keep in East Lansing, Mich. for the long haul. Nightingale has experienced a ton of success in a short amount of time at Michigan State, winning the Big Ten regular season and conference tournament titles in back-to-back seasons, which resulted in No. 1 seeds in each of the last two NCAA Tournaments as well. That kind of success has resulted in some (including myself) worrying he may be a target for a NHL coaching position in the near future. Good news for Michigan State, though, is that his new contract extension (which is through 2030) has a greatly increased buyout should someone want to poach him away. Connor Earegood of The Detroit News posted on social media platform X on Friday that Nightingale's buyout over the next three years has more than doubled to $2 million. The buyout from there will drop but still a notable amount throughout most of his contract. You can see the exact numbers in Earegood's post below: This is the type of move from both Michigan State and Nightingale that shows he plans to be with the Spartans hockey program for a longtime. Which is really good news for Spartans everywhere. Michigan State will enter next season as a preseason top five team, with some already pegging them as the No. 1 team in way-too-early rankings. So, it's safe to say things are great for Michigan State hockey right now, and the news out of Friday only furthered those positive vibes for the Spartans.
