Shopping writer's top picks from Roman's boho summer collection
Roman's new range includes flattering dresses and vibrant jumpsuits which can be snapped up for less with this discount code
Roman has launched its new summer collection comprising a variety of easy-to-wear pieces inspired by 'bohemian romance' and 'breezy escapes'. Included in the range are gorgeous dresses, vibrant jumpsuits and comfortable trousers that can be worn on holiday, at festivals and while attending special occasions such as weddings.
The Effortless Summer 2025 Range brings a 'fresh, modern twist to seasonal staples' and features floral, patchwork and boho patterns. The garments are made from breathable fabrics, such as linen and cotton, and offer on-trend silhouettes.
Roman has dropped a variety of new stylish items in regular, petite, and curve fits. For a limited time, shoppers can save on the new collection by entering the special discount code NEW at checkout to get 10% off their order.
I frequently write about Roman's clothes, so I couldn't wait to dive into the new Effortless Summer 2025 Range and select my top picks. First up is the vibrant and versatile Multi Landscape Print Tie Waist Shirt Dress, which comes in sizes 10 to 20 and costs £37.80 after applying the code.
The classic knee-length shirt dress features beautiful beach scenery, including palm trees and shells, making it a holiday must-have. It can be worn over swimwear with flip-flops as a beach cover-up, or paired with chunky sandals or wedges for dining on a sunny terrace.
The shirt dress has three-quarter length sleeves and a tie belt to cinch in the waist if desired, plus it has handy side pockets. Next is selling a similar Bright Palm Graphic Print Tie Waist Shirt Dress priced at £49 that comes in sizes six to 26 in both regular and tall fits, unlike the Roman options which is only available in regular.
Shoppers who prefer a longer garment may be interested in Roman's new Black Floral Print Border Maxi Dress that features a beautiful pattern with contrasting trims. The frock flows beautifully into a smock shape and has floaty three-quarter length sleeves and a flattering V-neckline.
The dress is available in sizes 10 to 20 and the discount code brings the cost down to £40.50. Despite being new, the maxi has already earned an overall rating of 4.7 out of five.
One thrilled customer commented: "Fabulous dress. Lightweight cotton means that the tiers of the dress float beautifully. The bodice fits perfectly, giving a flattering slim silhouette, and the sleeves are a lovely bell shape at a perfect length. Talking of length, it's a real maxi on me at 5'2" and looks fab. The neckline, sleeves and hem are double bound in the red pattern, it's so well made. I'm going to float around in this at a special family party and I'll feel great."
It's worth noting, however, that as the Black Floral Print Border Maxi Dress is only available in a regular fit, so it may not be the desired maxi length on taller people. The dress is also made from 100% cotton, so it will require extra care when washing.
Next is selling a similar Love & Roses Monochrome Floral Midaxi Shirt Dress for £68 that's available in sizes eight to 22. This V-neck frock has a similar pretty tiered skirt and three-quarter length sleeves.
Jumpsuits are the perfect garment to throw on and go, whether heading to the beach or brunch with friends. Roman's Green Zig Zag Print Full Length Jumpsuit is sure to receive many compliments with its stunning statement pattern.
The sleeveless jumpsuit has full-length wide-leg trousers and is priced at £37.80 when the discount code is applied. It has a stylish stand collar and is adorned with buttons on the bodice, while the belted waist adds definition.
We think the Green Zig Zag Print Full Length Jumpsuit would look fabulous worn with flip-flops or chunky sandals for a daytime occasion, or pair it with wedges for an evening look. On chillier days, add a denim jacket for a warm yet stylish ensemble.
New Look's Yumi Green Floral Print Wide Leg Jumpsuit has a similar pattern but with tie strap fastenings instead. Priced at £55, it comes in sizes eight to 16 and has a square neckline and an elasticated shirred bodice.
Roman's complete Effortless Summer 2025 Range can be shopped here. Remember to enter the discount code NEW at the checkout to receive 10% off orders.

REVIEW: Martin Luther King drama hits the heights, and a technical low
King calls room service and requests a coffee. A young maid by the name of Camae arrives with his beverage. So begins American dramatist Katori Hall's Olivier Award-winning 2009 play The Mountaintop. If you are – as I am in writing reviews – averse to spoilers, Hall's drama is a tricky proposition. It is necessary, yet possibly saying too much, to reveal that the fictional figure of Camae is not what she seems. The maid is Black, working class, clever, fast talking, flirtatious, irreverent, yet very much in respectful awe of King. As such, this multifaceted character is a brilliant foil to Hall's imagined MLK. King himself emerges – in Hall's characterisation – as a complex combination of traits inspired by both his public persona and what we know of his private biography. Inevitably – given the ever-present threats against his life – he is afraid for his person. His conversation with Camae explores the tussle between fear, on the one side, and determination, faith and a sense of purpose, on the other. Camae's respect for King does not prevent her from invoking Black radicals such as Malcolm X and the Black Panthers, and from airing opinions on the struggle for racial justice that are at odds with MLK's insistence on non-violent resistance. READ MORE: 'Joy, celebration and warmth' of Palestinian art to be showcased at Edinburgh Fringe In one particularly memorable scene, she even imagines a new, radically Black nationalist rhetoric for King. Yet the dialogue between the pair is so deftly wrought, so believable in its humour, affection and growing familiarity that its political dimension never comes close to polemic. The characters' interactions reflect to a considerable degree MLK's well-established 'weakness' where his extra-marital relations with women were concerned. In this, and in other – by turns delightful and anguished – aspects, the play's broad humanism is inflected with feminism. Caleb Roberts (MLK) and Shannon Hayes (Camae) create a powerful and transfixing theatrical duet as they perform on set designer Hyemi Shin's impressive set (a vertiginous rendering of King's motel room). Caleb Roberts Although contrasting in so many ways, the actors generate characters who are in equal measure charismatic and vulnerable, all the better for Camae to guide King through a dark night of the soul and up to the titular mountaintop. Indeed, so spellbinding are the actors that one cannot help but feel disappointed by the needless distraction – in what should have been a shuddering denouement – of very visible stagehands invading the stage in the crucial final scene. This misjudgement on the part of acclaimed director Rikki Henry seriously undermines an otherwise sure-footed staging. The director exhibits a misplaced loyalty to a visual metaphor for which he and his team have been unable to find a satisfactory technical solution. Which is a great shame as, otherwise, this production does excellent justice to Hall's celebrated drama. Until June 21:

Dunelm's 'cheerful' gingham summer bedding is so good people are buying more than one set
The lightweight duvet set comes in a range of colours and it's had a price drop too just in time for the warmer weather With summer just around the corner, it's time to ditch the winter bedding and give way to something lighter and brighter in anticipation of some good weather and warmer nights. Dunelm has a range of gingham bedding that is perfect to update your bedroom's aesthetic. It's Portloe Woven Gingham Duvet Cover & Pillowcase Set comes in nine colour schemes so you'll have no trouble finding one to match your room. And it's been given a price reduction too just ahead of the summer months. It's currently on sale for £28.80 for the double set instead of it's original price of £36. The king size set is £33.60, reduced from £42 if you have a bigger bed to furnish. In the colour ochre, it screams sunshine but this stand-out set is also available in black for the monochrome lovers, blush and orchid for a girly theme and a range of blue tones including Ashley and Folkstone. Gingham bed sets are readily available at this time of year as the pattern is the epitome of summer for home interiors. Dusk has the Gabriella Gingham 100% Cotton Duvet Cover and Pillowcase Set in the hue natural on sale for £34, down from £75.00. Meanwhile, Next's scalloped edge set is made by furn and comes in two colourways, pink and green. It's on sale for £36 on the Next website. Dunelm's Portloe set has had rave reviews from happy buyers. Some are so impressed they're buying multiple sets. With 243 reviews on Dunelm's site and a 4.5 out of 5 star rating, customers are thrilled with the quality and the look of the bedding. One said: "I love it. Its really great quality. I already own the green set for my double bed. Ordered the yellow for my spare room. Looks really cheerful. Washes well, no complaints." While another was planning on buying again. They said: "Amazing quality, feels soft against skin, rich colour, definitely going to buy another set." And another fan raved: "I purchased the green in bedding and matching curtains for our guest room and loved it so much that I purchased the black for our bedroom too. It looks amazing, washes well and is extremely comfortable to sleep in plus gingham is always so welcoming to look at." One customer said: "Gorgeous colours, lovely gingham texture, cotton fresh. I bought the yellow and it's a burst of sunshine!" And another happy shopper called it the 'gingham set of dreams' and added: "The colour is such a pretty shade of pink, and the fabric is so soft and comfortable. This is budget friendly and to be honest looks like it cost a lot more!" Some customers were disappointed in the fabric, however. One said: "Don't buy this set unless you are a fan of either a crumpled bed or of serious ironing. I fully expected to have to run an iron over it, after washing it, but this was hard work. " And another found the dimensions were too big for her duvet saying: "Duvet cover too big for our duvet which is such a shame. It looks nice but cut too big for a king size duvet so lots of excess cover."

‘I NEED that bag!' fashion fans yell about Next's fruity new accessory as they praise store's ‘insane' summer collection
A GOOD bag has the power to elevate any ordinary outfit into something extra special. So it comes as no surprise that fashion fans are racing to their nearest Next, in a bid to get their hands on one of the stunning new lemon handbags. 6 6 6 6 The store shared some of its favourite summer items in a picture slideshow on TikTok. "Psssttt - wanna see some of our fave accessories for summer?" they wrote over the top of the first snap. They then showed off the bag in question - a gorgeous beaded bright yellow number designed to look like a segment of lemon. "They need no introduction," they wrote over the picture. The £55 beaded bag also comes in an equally cute watermelon design. And it was clear the bag is going to be a sought after accessory this summer, judging by the hundreds of people commenting on the TikTok. "Neeeed that lemon bag," one wrote. "We love the lemon and watermelon bags, Next!" another praised. "Fruitylicious on the beach." "The lemon bag is going on the wishlist!" a third gushed. The summer trend dividing style queens - some call it a 'girl's best friend' but it brings back bad memories for others "Obsessed, beaded heaven," someone else said. "Sold. God sakes!" another joked. Other items included in the picture slideshow were a gorgeous shell necklace, which was paired with a green co-ord. And there are a fair few bags to choose from in store at the moment too. Like the "perfect summer beach bag" - a stunning cream option with tassels and intricate crochet detailing. Cow print is also a big trend this summer, with a neck scarf coming in the pattern to "elevate any outfit". Hottest fashion trends of 2025 Fabulous' Fashion Editor Clemmie Fieldsend shares the biggest trends from the high street. The East/West Bag Baguette bags have had a good run, after returning from the 1990s' shoulders of Sarah Jessica Parker to modern-day fashion icons, like Hailey Bieber. In 2025, the East/West bag is a similar but elongated shape and has long, thin straps that are easy to throw over your shoulder. They've been on runway models' arms at nearly ever designer show - think Burberry, Givenchy and Bottega Veneta - and are hitting the high street now, too. Powder pink Bright fuchsia pink had its day after the release of Barbie in 2023 and now the more polished and expensive-looking pale shade is taking over for 2025. Pantone may say that it's the year of Mocha Mousse, but the catwalks say otherwise! From Prada to Erdem, the subtle look was all over the spring/summer catwalks, worn head-to-toe or on its own. If the sugary shade is too girly for you, then look to sharp suiting for a androgynous take on the colour. The shell jacket The '80s classic is back, but with a sleek and minimal new twist for 2025. We all know we're likely to see rain for most of spring, so your practical coat of choice should be a cagoule jacket. Depop revealed one of its big trend predictions for this year is retro sportswear, with surges already seen in '80s windbreakers'. Seen everywhere from the stylish streets of Copenhagen to the Miu Miu catwalk, now mums who have an emergency raincoat crumpled underneath their pushchair are very much in fashion! The turn-up jeans While the shape of jeans remains the same for this year and barrel-legs will still be everywhere, the way we're styling them is different. This season, transform your wide-leg, baggy denims into turn-ups. For this look, size doesn't matter, so while deep turn-ups are a hit from jean trend-leaders Citizens of Humanity, a slight fold is still just as good - but only as it's just one single fold. Peep-toe shoe Get your pedicures booked in sharpish, as this season your toes are the main event. After a long hiatus, the peep-toe has been welcomed back into the fashion fold, with brands like Hermes, Miu Miu and Tory Burch showing plain and embellished footwear in this style. From mules to pumps and clogs (yes, clogs will be around too!), there are lots of different styles that are set to sweep the high street. Sheer blouses See-through looks have always lived on the catwalk, but have rarely filtered into everyday life - until now. Designers Ralph Lauren and Tom Ford loved sheer looks on their S/S '25 catwalks and M&S even had sellout success with its black sheer pencil skirt last season. Expect to see more sheer looks lining supermarket aisles and high street shops in the form of skirts, tops and frocks. And there are even lace-up cow print loafers - sure to divide style fans. Fruit continues to be a big theme, with a red bag featuring miniature strawberries on it. The comments section was once again filled with people praising Next for the epic offerings, with one insisting: "Omg need it all!" "Next have excelled this summer," another added. "I fear Next is eating the other high street shops up atm???????" a third mused. "Erm ok slay!!!!!!!!" someone else commented. "Your summer pieces are insane!" another mused. While someone else said they "can't afford this". "Next is doing so good this season!" someone else concluded. 6 6
