After working in more than 40 films, the heroine roles reduced, so she started doing character roles. After this, she also worked on songs. For example, she danced with Prabhu Deva in the song 'Lalakku Dol Dappi Ma' in Sarathkumar's film 'Suriyan' and with Murali in the song ' Machinichi Vara Neram ' in Vijay's film 'Poove Unakkaga'.
During the shooting of this song, Viji experienced back pain and encountered complications during treatment. A mistake during her back surgery left her hands and legs paralysed, confining her to a wheelchair. Although she later won a case against the hospital and her condition improved after multiple operations, film offers stopped coming her way. Moved by her situation, Vijayakanth gave her a role in Simmasanam, which turned out to be her last film. Viji's film career began at the age of 16, and her life came to a tragic end at just 34.
According to a report by Tamil News 18, Viji committed suicide in her Chennai home in 2000. The news shook the Tamil film industry. Everyone thought that the cause of his death was his health, but the things written in his suicide note revealed the real reason. Her suicide note blamed a failed love affair with director A R Ramesh, who was already married. The report suggested Ramesh promised to marry her but declined later, and that three days before her death, Ramesh met Viji at a function and abused her.
Viji had also left evidence of accepting the director's love in her death note. Due to this, the police arrested the director and his wife and filed a case. However, after a few years, they were acquitted.
Also, in her last note, she had requested the then Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi not to conduct post-mortem on her body after her death.

Kingdom Box Office: Vijay Deverakonda starrer collects 44cr worldwide in 2 days
Telugu film Kingdom held moderately well on its second day at the Indian box office, grossing Rs. 9.50 crore approx. The two-day running total of the Vijay Deverakonda starrer is Rs. 27.75 crore approx. The film has collected another Rs. 16 crore (USD 1.85 million) overseas, giving it a worldwide gross of Rs. 43.75 crore. The film is expected to see a surge in business today and again on Sunday. If the growth on the weekend is good, it could aim for Rs. 55 crore extended weekend in India and Rs. 75 crore worldwide. The Day Wise Box Office Collections of Kingdom in India are as follows: While the box office numbers so far are not bad, the high production costs demanded a far stronger opening and a steadier hold. The film now needs to get that big growth on the weekend and then sustain well from there on. This isn't typically associated with Telugu films, which are usually very front-loaded, but that is exactly what Kingdom requires. There are also dubbed versions, which can often lend a helping hand in case of higher investment, but they haven't done so. Tamil has managed some numbers, not enough to make a real impact, while Hindi is a washout. Overseas, the film did well on its North American premiere but hasn't sustained well with collections coming down on the following two days. The Territorial Breakdown for Kingdom is as follows:

Vidhu Vinod Chopra told Vidya Balan to get a nose job before Parineeta, she was terrified: ‘Tera naak bohot lamba hai, surgery karte hain'
Vidya Balan made a remarkable entry into Hindi cinema with Parineeta, an adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's 1914 Bengali novella. Directed by the late Pradeep Sarkar and produced by veteran filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the film marked the beginning of her Bollywood journey. While she fondly remembers her association with Sarkar, who believed in her talent even as a newcomer, Vidya recently opened up about a moment that left her shaken just before filming began. In a candid conversation with Filmfare, the actor recalled how producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra suggested she undergo plastic surgery. 'He told me, 'Tera naak bohot lamba hai, surgery karwate hai.' Main dar gayi (He told me, 'Your nose is too long, let's get a surgery done.' I got scared). And I was like, 'I'm not going to do this'. And I'll tell you why, because to this day I have not touched my face. I get a facial done once in a while, and that's about it. I'm very particular, ki jaisa hai waisa hai, Bhagwan ne diya hai, bohot achha diya hai (The way it is, that's how it is. God gave it to me, and He gave it beautifully).' She also shared another difficult episode from her early years, before Parineeta, when she was working on a Malayalam film. The makers had asked her to change her surname, something she was deeply uncomfortable with. 'During my Malayalam film, they told me there is Manju Warrier, there is Samyukta Varma, who used their community names as their surnames. So you should also be called Vidya Iyer, not Vidya Balan. I changed my name and I cried, but my parents told me, 'You will always be Vidya Balan.' But again, they didn't know, right? The director and producer wrote to everyone saying, 'You're an Iyer anyway, so it's okay.' And then that film didn't happen. So I was very sure—if there is something I'm not comfortable doing, then it will definitely not work out. So when Mr Chopra told me, I was like, main dar gayi, and I came back and spoke to Dada (Pradeep Sarkar). I told him, 'Dada, aap sambhal lo…' and he was like, 'Nahi nahi, main manage kar lunga ('Dada, you handle it…' and he said, 'No, no, I'll manage it)'.' Also Read | Vidya Balan says Rekha is 'desire incarnate': 'I think she was made for the celluloid' Despite the pressures, Vidya reflected warmly on her experience working with Chopra's production house, calling it a 'protected environment' that helped her grow. 'I did my first three films with Vinod Chopra Films, so that's like my alma mater. I came from a protected environment, very disciplined, very professional. All the prep was done beforehand, you didn't waste time on set at all. These are things I learnt early on, and of course they added to my South Indian discipline anyway.' Last month, Parineeta completed 20 years, marking two decades of Vidya Balan in the Hindi film industry. She was last seen in the blockbuster horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
