Gloucestershire in Pictures: Cheese roll and rugby
There was to be no fairytale top-four ending for Gloucester Rugby, but they gave thousands of fans at Kingsholm a win to take them into the summer.
Wychwood Festival arrived at Cheltenham Racecourse, and there have been the usual stunning scenes across the county.
Not to be: Gloucester fans filled the streets around Kingsholm in the build-up to the final match of the season on Saturday. The cherry and whites ended with a win against Northampton but finished just outside the play-off places.
Cheesy does it: One last look back at the 2025 Gloucestershire cheese rolling from Bank Holiday Monday, an event that once again drew competitors from all over the world and was watched by thousands at the scene and millions online.
Sunny start: The weather really came through on Friday evening for the first day of Wychwood Festival 2025, where artists like Daniel Bedingfield, Scouting for Girls and Shed Seven are performing. The festival transforms Cheltenham Racecourse each year into a family festival - and this year it's looking bigger and better than ever.
Heritage: Nestled among the houses of the Cotswold village of Ozleworth is the historic St Nicholas Church. No longer a regularly used place of worship, it is maintained by volunteers from the Churches Conservation Trust.
Cheers! The Brockweir Inn Community Benefit Society has successfully purchased the remarkable 16th Century village tavern on the banks of the River Wye. This community collective is now launching a second share offer to raise the funds needed to refurbish and reopen their historic village pub. The share offer opens on 1 June and will run for six weeks until 15 July.
Stunning settings: A mixed week of weather in the county but enough sunshine for this beautiful photo captured in Hardwicke by our weather watcher, Tone Poet.

Liverpool have signed the NEXT Fernando Torres
Liverpool have their next Fernando Torres and he's special. We all remember that moment, well those of us who are old enough, because it was that long ago. Fernando Torres. A special performance. Capped off with a goal. And that knee slide in front of the crowd. That was the beginning of the Torres years at Liverpool. And oh my how beautiful those years were. How adored Torres was. El Nino was the talk of the city back then. No matter how it ended, Torres was iconic during his time at the club. He was Liverpool's best player at times and definitely a crowd favourite. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas away range Liverpool have had great attacking players since. But they haven't really had a beloved no.9. That's about to change. Because 18 years later, Liverpool have another Torres. It's happening all over again. Once again a new era is starting. And it started at Anfield. Under the lights. Adidas long sleeve tops. Except it wasn't Chelsea who were the opponents but Bournemouth. But the end result was the same. Hugo Ekitike scoring, just like Torres did on his debut. And just like the Spaniard, he capped it off with a knee slide in front of the crowd. Ekitike's debut was as good as they come. He got himself an assist later on in the match providing Cody Gakpo with an opportunity he had to take, and he took it very calmly.

Ruben Amorim more confident in Man Utd ahead of new season
Ruben Amorim says he feels 'more confident' about Manchester United's qualities heading into Sunday's Premier League opener against Arsenal. A sense of optimism has returned to Old Trafford, just three months on from their worst top-flight campaign in 51 years being compounded by a damaging defeat in the Europa League final. Amorim has refreshed the squad, both in terms of personnel and mindset, since the end of a campaign in which the United head coach admitted he went into games knowing that they would struggle. But being backed in the transfer window over incomings and outgoings has helped changed that heading into Sunday's hotly-anticipated Old Trafford opener against Arsenal. 'It is hard to know (what we will deliver) because we cannot change everything in four weeks, but we are better,' Amorim said. 'I know that we are training harder, we are training better, so I know that we are more prepared to cope with the demands of the game. 'We have new players that we need to understand in the real game what they are capable to do in the moment. 'But I am really more confident. That is clear. I am more confident in this moment. 'But, again, we cannot change everything in four weeks but step by step we are going to be a better team, but of course I am more confident.' Benjamin Sesko is pushing to make his debut just a week on from joining the club from RB Leipzig, as are fellow summer acquisitions Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Diego Leon. But there remains work to be done, with a number of players to shift out and a decision to be made on midfield after Brighton made clear they do not want to sell Carlos Baleba this summer. United are a work in progress but Amorim believes they are far better heading into the new campaign than the side that stumbled home 15th last term. 'We want to return to Europe, but it is hard as a Manchester United coach to say one thing like that,' he said. 'But we need to be realistic with our fans. We are going to have to fight a lot because there's a lot of good teams with more time than us together, but we are going to fight for it. 'We are going to improve. We want to focus game by game. If we are thinking now about how we are going to finish the season it is a problem. 'Let's focus on game by game. We want to win against Arsenal, that is the main focus.' The match against Mikel Arteta's Gunners pits Amorim against a striker he helped take to new heights. Viktor Gyokeres joined Sporting Lisbon from Coventry in 2023 and became one of Europe's most talked about frontmen in Europe under the Portuguese. There had been talk of a reunion with Amorim at Old Trafford but the Sweden international instead joined Arsenal and could make his debut against his former boss on Sunday. 'It's a different league,' Amorim said of Gyokeres. 'The physicality is different. 'In Sporting they have a very good group of scouting because they live from that, from the players they can buy and then sell to survive. 'I think he is a very good player. He is going to give different characteristics. 'It is going be different if we face in the beginning of the game Viktor or (Kai) Havertz, for example, so we need to be prepared for that but it's not a surprise to watch Viktor in a big club in England.'

Woman Reveals Her Lengthy List of Online Dating Dealbreakers After Getting Divorced 5 Years Ago: ‘Swipe Left Instantly'
From poor grammar to photos posing alongside a luxury car, the woman revealed several red flags she looks for when online dating NEED TO KNOW A woman is searching for love using dating apps after getting divorced five years ago In a post on Mumsnet, she revealed several factors on a dating profile that "instantly" put her off a man "Tell me your profile icks so I can take them on as my own and give up the whole business 😂," she wrote, encouraging people to join in the conversation A woman is revealing the things men include in their online dating profiles that 'instantly' put her off starting a conversation. The woman explained in a post on Mumsnet that after her divorce five years ago, she had a few 'perfectly pleasant' dates with men she met online but chose not to take things further. Having redownloaded the apps recently, she's been 'finding more and more reasons to swipe left instantly.' She acknowledged that her dealbreakers could be causing her to miss out on a great match, but argued men should 'put together a decent profile.' Listing her dislikes, she wrote, 'ENM [ethical non-monogamy], fish pictures (becoming less common), posing by someone else's expensive car, mentioning they are good with their hands, mouth, whatever.' The woman also admitted she dislikes men who gush about their children coming first on their profiles and those who make comments about looking for someone 'drama-free.' 'Topless pics out of context (Beach maybe okay, bedroom mirror selfie NO!),' she continued. 'No punctuation, aggressive don't match if you.... a,b,c, d comments. 'First pic of a large group of bros (he's the ugly one, always), bios starting with 'never know what to write here,' and lying about age with the obligatory 'actually 52 but can't change it' comment,' she added. The woman said repeatedly reading bios with flirtatious comments about slapping the bum when holding the door makes her want to vomit. Encouraging others to share their dealbreakers, she wrote, 'Anyway, really just letting out frustrations! Tell me your profile icks so I can take them on as my own and give up the whole business 😂.' Many responses to the post were amused by the woman's lengthy list of red flags as some commenters began to share their own dealbreakers. 'Too close up selfies with their phone covering 3/4 of their face usually taken in a public toilet wearing an obligatory hiviz vest,' one person wrote. 'I'm married now, but from my memories of my dating site times any profile which was all about what you should be and not about them.... 'not interested in any liars, cheaters, self-obsessed women, women with kids, women who are overweight' etc,' another said. 'It's fine to have preferences, but to use your opportunity to sell yourself to make some kind of anti-women commentary was always a massive ick for me.' 'It's been a while since I did OLD [online dating], but I do recall the women with that awful 'if you can't handle me at my worst, you don't deserve me at my best' quote and giving them an instant swerve,' another user chimed in.
