Kajol felt very alone on the sets of the superhit film 'Ishq.' Were Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla to blame?

Time of India5 hours ago

Indra Kumar's 1997 directorial Ishq stands as one of the most commercially successful films of its time, making a powerful impact at the Indian box office. Featuring a star-studded cast that included Aamir Khan, Kajol, Juhi Chawla, and Ajay Devgn, the movie was widely appreciated for its vibrant comedy, catchy music, and high-energy performances. But what many may not realize is the lengthy and emotionally layered journey behind its creation—a process that stretched across 300 demanding days of filming.
In a recent conversation with
Mashable India,
Kajol opened up about her experiences during the making of Ishq. She shared how, during the shoot, she often found herself alone on set. Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla, who had a long-standing camaraderie, were typically engrossed in their own group dynamics along with director Indra Kumar.
Their bond created a tight trio, while Kajol, despite her efforts to socialize, frequently ended up by herself. Over time, this sense of solitude allowed her to form a stronger bond with her co-star Ajay Devgn, who was also somewhat removed from the others. Eventually, Kajol found herself mostly isolated, especially on days when she simply didn't feel like engaging in small talk.

'Aamir was very friendly with the director, and so was Juhi, so these three were a close-knit group, and then there was Ajay and me. And eventually, it was just me. There were certain days on set when I was not willing to talk to anybody' she told the magazine.
Reflecting on the reason for this emotional distance, Kajol explained that the exhaustive nature of the film's shoot contributed heavily. Spending nearly 10 hours every day for close to a year, working on the same project with the same people, naturally wore on her. Despite being outgoing by nature, she admitted there were many moments when she preferred silence over social interaction. Even someone with an extroverted personality needs moments of stillness, she reflected—a truth that became clear during those extended shooting hours.
Ishq, which translates to 'Love,' is a Hindi-language romantic comedy-drama infused with action and emotion—a genre popularly known as "masala" in Indian cinema. It not only brought together four major stars but also featured talents like Dalip Tahil, Johnny Lever, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, and Mohan Joshi in memorable supporting roles. With music composed by Anu Malik, the film was released on 28 November 1997 and ranked as the third highest earner at the box office that year.
While critics offered a mix of reviews—applauding the film's humor, music, visual appeal, and acting while pointing out weaknesses in its storyline and screenplay—audiences embraced it wholeheartedly. The story followed the contrasting lives of two friends, Ajay and Raja, as they fall for women from vastly different social spheres.
On the work front, Kajol will next be seen in the mythological horror movie 'Maa'. The film continues the narrative set within the Shaitan Universe, unfolding a gripping tale about a mother's fierce struggle to protect her child from dark, otherworldly forces.
Wrapped in a haunting mix of emotion and suspense, it explores the depth of maternal courage in the face of supernatural danger. Production was completed earlier in 2025, with the makers unveiling the first look poster to much anticipation. The movie is slated for a multilingual theatrical release on 27 June 2025, hitting screens in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali.

TikTok users can't get enough of Kate Middleton and Prince William as the 2000s' ‘It Couple'

TikTok users can't get enough of Kate Middleton and Prince William as the 2000s' 'It Couple'; watch viral video A viral video on the social media platform TikTok has sparked public interest in one of the longest-running love affairs of contemporary royalty. The video, which hails Prince William and Kate Middleton as the "it couple" of the 2000s, has gained more than 390,000 views and 40,000 likes since Sunday. With its retro montage of highlights in their relationship, the clip has reawakened widespread admiration for the couple, particularly among young web users viewing their tale for the first time. The video begins with scenes from the University of St Andrews in 2005, where William and Kate initially met as university students. From academy gowns to uniformed military attire, the clip follows them from student days to high-ranking royals, featuring scenes from RAF Cranwell, Sandhurst, and other public engagements. The comment section was inundated by TikTok users showering them with praise, terming their relationship timeless and characterising their relationship as one that was built on mutual respect and love. The film is more than just a visual obituary. It marks how an alliance previously under the spotlight and pursued relentlessly by the media ended up being a contemporary royal fairytale. As duty-bound public figures who juggle work and domestic life, William and Kate have attracted attention not through spectacle but through reliability, dependability, and a normative visibility. William and Kate's 'royal romance' began in a Scottish lecture hall by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Update Your PC's Security Today McAfee Learn More Undo Prince William and Kate Middleton initially met in 2001 at the University of St Andrews in Fife, Scotland. Both were studying art history before William changed to geography. Their first friendship slowly evolved into a relationship, with many early memories created behind closed doors, within the university's ancient grounds and shared houses. According to the BBC, it was in 2003 that the media started gossiping about their romance, although the couple managed to keep things pretty much under wraps throughout their course of study. It was at their graduation in 2005 that one of the first public achievements was caught on camera. In the going-viral TikTok clip, the moment when "William Wales" is summoned to claim his degree is a central visual image of academic achievement and development. Kate walked beside William long before the royal wedding After university, Prince William went for military training, and Kate was frequently observed supporting him from the sidelines. William attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 2006, ultimately receiving his commission as an officer. Kate witnessed the Sovereign's Parade in 2007, during which William's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, officiated. Another turning point was in 2008 when William was awarded his RAF wings at Royal Air Force Cranwell. Kate accompanied him to the ceremony, walking with him down the corridors of the Central Flying School. These photos are included in the viral collection, highlighting Kate's presence not only at social functions but also at sombre moments in William's initial career. Robert Jobson, writing in his biography Catherine, said that while she was not protected from all problems by these privileges, Kate revelled in the perks of dating a prince, such as security escorts and access to the upper echelons of social life, but remained humble and respectful in her demeanour. Jobson wrote that she was "unfazed by the trappings of royalty" and concentrated on her relationship with William, not on the royal label that came with it. Life in the public eye: Coping with public scrutiny With their relationship intensifying, so did the paparazzi. Kate was followed everywhere by paparazzi, snapped on her way to work and on her private outings. There were increasing tensions among royal aides regarding the amount of intrusion into her affairs, according to The Guardian. William's protective nature came out, and he allegedly made a formal appeal to the press for respect of Kate's privacy. In spite of this scrutiny, Kate was able to keep her calm and steer clear of tabloid controversy. Her dignity in the face of adversity served to further cement her public image as a suitable candidate for royal life. Her role in William's life became ever more formalised, and by 2010, the world was anticipating a proposal. A royal wedding and public acclaim On 16th November 2010, the couple revealed they were engaged, and a few months later, on 29th April 2011, the world witnessed them getting married at Westminster Abbey. Their wedding attracted millions of viewers worldwide with coverage across the continents and languages. The couple in the subsequent years became the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Their union is not only recalled for its glory, but also for its symbolism. It heralded the start of a new era for the monarchy - an era that focused on youth, accessibility, and calm partnership. In a 2011 YouGov survey, it was found that William and Kate's popularity eclipsed other senior royals, securing them in the hearts of the public. Parenthood and public roles William and Kate grew their family over the years, having Prince George in 2013, Princess Charlotte in 2015, and Prince Louis in 2018. Every birth was accompanied by a frenzy of media attention and national celebration. Despite the spotlight, however, the couple have tried to provide their children with a down-to-earth upbringing, tending to select schools and pursuits based on their values more than royal custom. They have also assumed additional senior royal responsibilities. William, now the Prince of Wales, has concentrated on mental health, the environment, and homelessness, whereas Kate, the Princess of Wales, advocates for early childhood development and mental health education. They make their public appearances together often enough, and their relationship remains a popular favourite to watch. Why William and Kate's viral video resonated in 2025 The viral video uploaded in June 2025 is riding a wave of nostalgia and appreciation for William and Kate's early years. The montage has garnered more than 390,000 views on TikTok and thousands of comments and reminded audiences about the simplicity and strength that defined their relationship since day one. The caption of the video, "POV: you both were the IT couple in the 2000s," is the cultural attitude toward William and Kate during those times. Their narrative provides an alternative to all-too-brief celebrity romance, in which royal couples can mature in the face of pressure and scrutiny. The commenters on the video also shared this view. One commenter posted, "William made the best decision of his life when he married Kate," and another said, "They are meant to be, so happy she's the future queen." The reaction indicates sustained emotional commitment to their saga, even though the royal family overall is under greater pressure in the contemporary era. M3GAN 2.0 release date, movie review, run time: Should you watch or not?

M3GAN 2.0, the sequel to 2023 release 'M3GAN', is all set to hit theatres and cinephiles are now curious about the movie review. If you want to know how big an upgrade the 'M3GAN' sequel has on the original, look no further than the very first scene. 'M3GAN' was mostly set in a Seattle house, but 'M3GAN 2.0' starts at the Turkish-Iranian border — with a murderous rampage in a secret military installation and the presence of Saudi intelligence, with U.S. Defense Department officials covertly watching. M3GAN 2.0 Release Date, Run Time, Rating 'M3GAN 2.0,' a Universal Pictures release in theaters Friday, is rated PG-13 for "strong violent content, bloody images, some strong language, sexual material and brief drug references." Lulutox Undo M3GAN 2.0 Review, Plot, Screenplay Most of the same team that gave us the refreshing horror-comedy original two years ago have not only gone super-big, but also changed the franchise's genre, turning 'M3GAN 2.0' into an action movie with two AI robots, two villains, FBI units, wingsuits, neural implants, a 'Mission: Impossible'-style vault heist, exosuits, a 250-mph street chase in a supercar, a power grid disaster, a countdown clock, the United Nations and the fate of the planet at stake, AP reported. If the evil doll M3gan in the first movie was responsible for the deaths of four humans and one dog, this time the screen is littered with the corpses of shootings, decapitations, severed limbs and laser slayings. There are double-crosses, impalings, blood splatter, cattle prods, tactical military soldiers, self-destruct sequences and insane close-combat martial arts. You can be forgiven for expecting a Tom Cruise appearance. Live Events What you won't get is much of the vibe of the original, which fused horror, cultural commentary and humor. This time, that's muted in favor of an overly ambitious, horribly convoluted plot that sometimes feels like the moviemakers just threw money at the sequel and tried to ape other franchises by going massive. The first had a bedroom feel; the new one starts, like we said, on an international border. The original's $12 million budget has been tripled. 'M3GAN 2.0' owes a lot to 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day,' in which the robot killer in the first movie becomes the robot hero of the second. M3gan, it will come as no surprise, wasn't killed at the end of the original. She's just been laying low, waiting for her time to seize the day — and dance. Now she is reborn to fight another, better AI robot, played with sinister lethality by Ivanna Sakhno. Director and screenwriter Gerard Johnstone turns Allison Williams — who plays M3gan's creator, Gemma — into a high-profile author and advocate for government oversight of artificial intelligence as the sequel opens. One of the more intriguing questions the movie explores is if parents are gradually outsourcing their responsibilities to technology. Her niece Cady — the fabulous Violet McGraw — is now a budding computer programmer and rebellious. She has learned aikido and has a strong affinity for Steven Seagal, a running gag. Her protection is still the single focus of M3gan, who has apparently been in cloud networks between movies. Facing a global existential threat, Gemma is convinced to build a body for M3gan to go toe-to-toe with the military-grade AI killing machine known as Amelia. 'Everyone deserves a second chance,' Cady tells her aunt. But whose side is M3gan really on? And what does Amelia really want? Some of the movie's best parts are when M3gan and Amelia face off. 'You're not family to them,' the new AI model says to the old. 'You're just the help.' There's some cool robotic dancing — a highlight of the original — and a return of M3gan's camel-colored silk sateen dress that became popular at Halloween. FAQs Q1. When is M3GAN 2.0 Release Date? A1. "M3GAN 2.0" releases in theaters Friday on June 27, 2025. Q2. What is run time of M3GAN 2.0? A2. M3GAN 2.0 run time is 120 minutes.
