Hillang Yajik from Arunachal Pradesh achieved a historic milestone at the 15th South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships 2025 in Thimphu, Bhutan. She secured a gold medal in the Women's Model Physique (up to 155 cm) category and a silver medal in another category.
Yajik's outstanding performance made her the first woman athlete from Arunachal Pradesh to win gold in physique sports at an international tournament. The championship was held from June 11 to 15 in Thimphu.

Vadodara to host men's ODI after 16 years!
Vadodara: The 16-year-long wait for cricket-loving Barodians is finally set to end. The city will host a men's one-day international (ODI) at the Kotambi International Cricket Stadium. Sources in the BCA said that Amin took up the matter with the BCCI and requested the senior officials to consider the city as a venue for the men's ODI or international T20 match, as the city now has a brand new international cricket stadium. BCA officials said that the city will now be regularly allotted ODIs and international T20 matches. The city has in the past hosted 10 ODIs at Reliance Stadium. However, the BCCI brought in a rule that mandated the state cricket associations to own a stadium for hosting international matches. The BCA didn't have a stadium of its own and hence missed out on several opportunities to host ODIs, T20 internationals, and IPL matches over the last 16 years. The cricket stadium was a major poll issue in the BCA for nearly 20 years, and the association even made a few attempts to buy land for constructing a stadium. The BCA finally managed to buy a piece of land at Kotambi in 2014, but the stadium project kept hanging in the balance amid controversies and differences within the BCA management. India suffer sixth consecutive defeat in Pro League, lose 2-3 to Australia
The Indian men's hockey team's wretched run in the European leg of the FIH Pro League continued as it endured a sixth defeat in a row, losing 3-2 to Australia, here Sunday. India has already lost matches to Netherlands and Argentina even as all the games were close. Former India captain Manpreet Singh, who played his 400th match on Sunday, failed to inspire his side despite taking the early lead. Sanjay (3rd minute) and Dilpreet Singh (36th) scored for India, while Tim Brand (4th), Blake Govers (5th) and Cooper Burns (18th) sounded the board for Australia. The men's team will next play Belgium here on June 21. In London, the women's team fought on equal terms against Australia but conceded a last-minute goal to lose 2-1. This was India's second consecutive defeat to Australia. India took the lead in the third minute through a field goal from Vaishnavi Phalke and maintained the 1-0 lead at half time. But Australia restored parity in the 37th minute through Amy Lawton. The match was heading towards a draw but Lexie Pickering scored the winner from a penalty-corner variation in the 60th minute to break Indian hearts. VVS Laxman To Spearhead India's Preparations In Gautam Gambhir's Absence: Report
Last Updated: Gautam Gambhir returned to India earlier this week due to a medical emergency in his family. He is expected to rejoin the squad ahead of the first Test. Former India batter VVS Laxman is expected to oversee India's preparation for the first Test against England until the return of India's head coach, Gautam Gambhir, who is still in India, tending to his ill mother. The first Test of the five-match series between India and England is scheduled to take place at Headingley in Leeds from June 20 to 24. As per a leading media website, Laxman, who also leads the National Cricket Academy (NCA), is already in London ahead of India Under-19s' month-long tour of the United Kingdom. The junior side will play five youth ODIs starting June 27, with two youth Tests scheduled for Beckenham and Chelmsford in July. In Gambhir's absence, the former India great also guided a second-string India team in a T20 series in South Africa late last year and was also India's head coach for the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe in July 2024, where, for the first time in his career, Shubman Gill captained Team India.
