‘Space to Succeed' scholarship opportunity for Louisiana students
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Community-minded students have the opportunity to earn scholarship money through a Louisiana-based company's education initiative.
Students must apply for the Space to Succeed Scholarship by May 31.
The annual award supports 'altruistic students as they pursue their career dreams through education.' The Space to Succeed Scholarship is open to students across the state who plan to attend any college or university in Louisiana.

'We created The Space to Succeed Scholarship because we want to nurture the leaders of tomorrow who volunteer, uplift their peers and neighbors and look for ways to give back. That could be anything from tutoring their classmates to volunteering for a local non-profit or mowing a neighbor's yard when they need help,' said Robert Piper, Principal of The Storage Center. 'As a Louisiana-based business, we are committed to making our community a better place, and The Space to Succeed Scholarship allows us to recognize students who show dedication, initiative and a vision for the future.'
Applicants should submit a 500- to 800-word essay that highlights their commitment to community service and explains how their education will enable them to continue and expand their impact.
Essays should provide specific examples of how the applicant has contributed to their community and reflect on how their efforts can positively influence others. Photos should accompany each entry and will be used when winners are announced online and on social media.

Louisiana Senate to debate budget after committee approval
BATON ROUGE, La. (LouisianaFirstNews) – The Senate Finance Committee approved the state's operating budget for next year during a Sunday hearing. Gov. Jeff Landry signs bills to address Louisiana's insurance crisis The bill will now head to the full Senate for debate. Afterward, it will return to the Louisiana House of Representatives for concurrence before heading to the Governor. The Senate committee restored $30 million in high-dose tutoring for K-12 students and maintained the $199 million appropriated for teacher stipends. All of the budget bills collectively include funding for state agencies. Action by the committee utilizes an additional $60M in state general funds recognized after the Revenue Estimating Committee met last week. 'After hearing public testimony last week, the committee unanimously adopted a set of amendments that address many of the needs our communities and families depend upon,' said Finance Chair Glen Womack. 'This is a responsible budget that brings some wins home for our state and I look forward to moving it favorably in the Senate.' AstraZeneca announces results from MATTERHORN Phase III trial of IMFINZI
Positive results from the MATTERHORN Phase III trial showed perioperative treatment with AstraZeneca's (AZN) IMFINZI in combination with standard-of-care FLOT chemotherapy demonstrated a statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvement in the primary endpoint of event-free survival, EFS, versus chemotherapy alone. Patients were treated with neoadjuvant IMFINZI in combination with chemotherapy before surgery, followed by adjuvant IMFINZI in combination with chemotherapy, then IMFINZI monotherapy. The trial evaluated this regimen versus perioperative chemotherapy alone for patients with resectable, early-stage and locally advanced gastric and gastroesophageal junction, GEJ, cancers. In a planned interim analysis, patients treated with the IMFINZI-based perioperative regimen showed a 29% reduction in the risk of disease progression, recurrence or death versus chemotherapy alone. Estimated median EFS was not yet reached for the IMFINZI arm versus 32.8 months for the comparator arm. For the secondary endpoint of overall survival, a strong trend was observed in favor of the IMFINZI-based perioperative regimen.
