169 MCD healthcare centres to be turned into Ayushman Arogya Mandirs
Additionally, Rs 2 lakh per centre will be allocated for furniture purchases and Rs 12 lakh annually for medicines, MCD officials said.
Delhi govt aims to open 1,139 AAMs in Delhi and establish them at sites with basic infrastructure and other facilities in place. These centres aim to reduce pressure on hospitals, allowing people to receive timely treatment. "We referred our dispensaries, maternity and child welfare centres, and public health centres (PHCs) to be revamped as AAMs.
Permissions have already been obtained to upgrade 51 sub-centres or dispensaries, 37 PHCs and 81 maternity and child welfare centres.
While work has started at some sites, we are expecting 11 PHCs to open for the general public in the next 15-20 days as AAMs," said an official.
A PHC caters to a population of 50,000 people, while a maternity and child welfare centre and a dispensary each cater to a population of around 10,000.

"We have also offered the school sites and community halls which are rarely utilised to be developed as such centres. These were based on the recommendation of the engineering department," said the official.

The sites were approved by govt after ground inspections. The primary condition for selecting a centre as an AAM is that the building must be permanent and have at least five rooms, a waiting area, lab facility, a doctor, nurse and medical attendants.
No AAM will be established in a porta cabin to ensure the primary healthcare system is strengthened on a permanent basis.
"At most centres, doctors have already been appointed. But at other places where there are no doctors, we have requested Delhi govt to make arrangements," said the official.
The official further stated that these health centres would have at least 14 general diagnostic facilities and 150 specialised test facilities provided, and testing would be done through outsourced labs.
The staff present will collect samples from patients as needed. These samples will be sent to outsourced labs for testing, and the reports will be provided to patients.
The civic body operates eight major hospitals like Hindu Rao, Balak Ram and Swami Dayanand, along with 90 maternal and child welfare centres, 54 dispensaries, 16 maternity homes, 11 polyclinics, 31 primary healthcare centres and other units.

7 million American men in their prime aren't working, or even looking - Mike Rowe explains the horror story
American prime-age men not working : American television host and philanthropist Mike Rowe drew a disturbing portrait of the American work force, terming it a "horror story" that's playing out quietly, according to a report. As per Rowe, about 7 million healthy-bodied men of prime working age are not only unemployed, they have even given up looking for work, as per Moneywise. Mike Rowe Highlights Growing Crisis in Male Workforce Participation He said, 'The stat that sticks with me and worries me today is 7.2 million able-bodied men, today in their prime working years, are not only unemployed … [they're] officially not even looking,' as quoted by Moneywise. This startling statistic, while not cited to the source by Rowe, points to an increasing issue regarding the involvement of men in the workplace, according to the report. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Secret to Never Losing Anything Again? Almost 30% indicated they were unemployed by choice, and approximately 9% were taking care of other people, as per the report. This implies a great many of those men who seem to be missing from the labor force aren't so much "able-bodied" or mentally healthy as Rowe portrayed, according to Moneywise. 10k subsidised coconuts fly off horticulture corp's counters
Whether it's grated into sabzis, added to chutneys, or used as oil, coconut is a good choice for thyroid health. It gives healthy fats that help with hormone function and boost energy. Virgin coconut oil, especially, may help improve metabolism and reduce tiredness, which are common in an underactive thyroid. It also fights inflammation and is easy to digest, making it a gentle fat for daily use. Panaji: On Independence Day, coconut consumers experienced a form of liberation from soaring prices in Goa. Shoppers across the state queued up for a rare bargain as the Goa State Horticultural Corporation Limited (GSHCL) rolled out a special sale of jumbo-sized coconuts at just Rs 40 apiece, a drop from the usual retail rate of Rs 58-60 per nut. The response was nothing short of enthusiastic. On the very first day of the sale, 10,000 coconuts flew off the counters. 'We are expecting this stock to get over by Sunday,' said GSHCL managing director Chandrahas Desai, as customers happily carted the coconuts home. One smiling buyer summed up the mood by saying, 'It has been a long time since I could buy coconuts without wincing at the price. With Ganesh Chaturthi fast approaching, this solution was a must.' TOI had reported that the corporation procured 25,000 coconuts to launch the initiative, all sourced from Shivamogga, Karnataka. With brisk sales showing no signs of slowing, a fresh batch of another 25,000 coconuts is due to arrive on Monday to meet the demand. The GSHCL earlier announced that it would be sourcing 15 tonnes of coconuts from Shivamogga to help meet the state's festive requirements. The supply drive is set to continue well past the Aug rush. 'We will be procuring at least 25,000 coconuts weekly until the eleventh day when Ganesh Chaturthi concludes,' Desai said.
