Cairo Symphony Orchestra to perform as part of the World's Greatest Symphonies Series

The Cairo Symphony Orchestra is preparing to perform a special concert as part of the World's Greatest Symphonies series.
The concert will be led by Polish Maestro Jan Miłosz Zarzycki and will feature pianist Seif Eldin Sherif. It will take place on Saturday, February 15th, at the Small Hall of the Cairo Opera House.
Jan Miłosz Zarzycki is one of the most prominent orchestra conductors in Poland and serves as the artistic and managing director of the Witold Lutosławski Philharmonic Orchestra. He is also a professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. He graduated from the Academy of Music in Katowice, specializing in violin performance, and received a distinguished diploma in orchestral conducting from the Academy of Music in Wrocław. He continued his studies in Vienna and Berlin.
Miłosz won first prize in the First National Competition for Orchestra Conductors named after Witold Lutosławski and won third prize in the Seventh International Competition for Orchestra Conductors 'Arturo Toscanini,' which led him to a musical tour with the Toscanini Symphony Orchestra. He has led the most prominent Polish orchestras and performed in more than 15 countries, and has recorded 17 musical albums, one of which won the 'Fryderyk' award in 2019. He received the 'Gloria Artis' Medal for Cultural Merit and awards from the Polish Minister of Culture and the Podlasie Voivode, and his career culminated in 2014 with the granting of the title 'Professor of Musical Arts' by presidential decree.

Abdel-Wahab served as a choral member at the Cairo Opera House from the age of nine to twelve and was then given a chance to become a solo singer. She kept performing at the Cairo Opera House while searching for a music producer to launch her music career. At the age of 18, Abdel-Wahab was introduced to director and music producer Nasr Mahrous, who liked her voice and decided to collaborate with her via his 'Free Music' production company, where she met with superstar, Tamer Hosny, who was also a new talent-seeking opportunity. Her first recorded song was released in 2002 as a part of an album that included works of other artists. The album was released, under the title 'Free Mix3: Tamer and Sherine' and was a big hit all across the entire Middle East and North Africa. The poster of Seeking Haven For The Cairo Opera House's Cinema Club offers a free screening of the film Seeking Haven For Mr Rambo on Wednesday, April 30, at 7 PM at the Small Theater in the Cairo Opera House. Following the screening, film critic Marwan Emara will host a discussion with the film's producer, Rasha Hosny. "Seeking Haven for Mr. Rambo" tells the story of "Hassan", a young man in his thirties who rediscovers himself on a quest to save his dog and best friend "Rambo". He is forced to confront the fears of his past. Hence, "Hassan" seeks to save himself and "Rambo" from an unknown fate after getting involved in a serious incident without guilt. Overnight, his neighbour, Karem, as well as the residents of the neighbourhood, start chasing him. The events also shed light on multiple details in Hassan's life and his relationship with those around him. The film is director Khaled Mansour's first feature-length narrative after directing a number of short films that were screened in several international and regional festivals. It is written by screenwriter Mohamed El-Hosseiny, starring rising actor Essam Omar, as his first cinematic experience, Rakin Saad, Sama Ibrahim, co-founder of the musical group Sharmoofers, Ahmed Bahaa, as his first acting experience, Sama Ibrahim, and other young talents and guest stars. "Seeking Haven for Mr. Rambo" is produced by Mohamed Hefzy from Film Clinic and by producer Rasha Hosny, who is making her debut in feature film production.

Cairo Opera House screens Seeking Haven for Mr. Rambo for free

The Cairo Opera House will screen the Egyptian drama film 'Seeking Haven for Mr. Rambo' (2024) as part of the Opera Cinema Club's activities at the Small Theater on Wednesday, April 30 at seven pm. The screening will be followed by a meeting with some of the film's creators, moderated by critic Marwan Amara. Attendance is free until seats are full. This film marks director Mansour's feature-length debut, following his success with several acclaimed short films screened at international and regional festivals.
