TV and soap legend Timothy West's cause of death revealed
An inquest has heard that acting legend and EastEnders star Timothy West 'died peacefully' following a fall last year.
Westminster Coroner's Court heard that the actor, who played Mick Carter's (Danny Dyer) grandfather in the soap, had a fall on August 11, 2024, resulting in him sustaining a 'significant traumatic brain injury'.
Assistant coroner Ellie Oakley revealed that he was treated in hospital for about three months, and then moved to Wandsworth Common Care Home. He received palliative care there, before his death on November 12.
'It is not possible to determine how the fall happened and there is no evidence of others being involved. Unfortunately he was not well enough to be discharged to his home despite receiving appropriate care in the care home', she said.
Thomas Holden, the care home's general manager, noted in a statement: 'On 12 November his family were with him all day. They continued to stay with him in his room during the evening and he passed away peacefully with his family around him at 19:20.'
A statement released by his family last year read: 'After a long and extraordinary life on and off the stage, our darling father Timothy West died peacefully in his sleep yesterday evening. He was 90 years old. Tim was with friends and family at the end.
'He leaves his wife Prunella Scales, to whom he was married for 61 years, a sister, daughter, two sons, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. All of us will miss him terribly.
'We would like to thank the incredible NHS staff at St George's Hospital, Tooting and at Avery Wandsworth for their loving care during his last days. Juliet, Samuel and Joseph West.'
Born on October 20, 1934, Timothy appeared often on television and the stage. As well as his role in EastEnders, he also played a character called Eric Babbage in Coronation Street.
From 2014-2019, Timothy and partner Prunella Scales travelled around the UK and overseas together in the Channel 4 show Great Canal Journeys.
Tributes are pouring in following the news of Timothy's death. Actress Tracie Bennett, a Coronation Street star, wrote on X: 'Oh I'm so sorry about this. Loved Timothy since we met at Granada tv in the early 80's. R.I.P Timothy West', while fellow actor James Dreyfus said: 'Marvellous actor. A constant in many of our lives. He shall be much missed. My thoughts with his family. RIP Timothy West.'
On Instagram, Danny Dyer commented on the tribute posted by the EastEnders account and said: 'Can't believe it'. Sam Strike, who previously played Johnny Carter, wrote on his Instagram Stories: 'Gutted to learn of Timothy West's passing. I remember thinking when he first showed up on set – this man is old school brilliance'.

The rapper and former security guard has accused the woman of "harassment, bullying, public safety and defamation of character". She has even been accused of telling Tak she "wished he died" after he had a minor prang in his car. In a lengthly statement on Instagram, Tak has broken his silence on the situation which he says occurred after he spent one night with her. Advertisement He told his fans: "First I would love to say thank you for the love and support I've received, really appreciate the ones who reached out to check in on me and make sure I'm doing okay. "I'm not going to feed into this behaviour, the people who know me know that I'm not capable of such things. "All of this will be dealt with accordingly and by the proper authorities as she has made some pretty serious and false allegations. "Harassment, bullying, public safety and defamation of character are serious offences and should not be taken lightly. Advertisement "And to all the people that enable this behaviour making fake accounts to give her false information and formulate scenarios that never occurred, it's worth taking a long look in the mirror before contributing to the defamation of someone's character." Tak appeared in the 2022 series of Love Island Australia. Love Island UK left looking tame as Aussie contestants boast about 'pounding' on the show Before entering the villa, he spoke proudly of his "strong morals". He lasted 22 days on the show. Now working as a rapper and model, Tak is believed to have hooked up with the female influencer on Hinge for a date last week. Advertisement The woman later posted a video on social media claiming he had been speaking to other women behind her back. "I am crashing out because a man has been deceiving me and about 500 other women," she ranted. The influencer, who is also Australian, also made a string of other allegations before they were delated. Fans have been left shocked by the situation and have given their opinions on Reddit. Advertisement One said: "This is all because he met her 3 days ago. She's already obsessed with him when he only spoke to her as a general and didn't promise her kids, marriage etc. crazy." Another added: "I feel like this level of crashout would be warranted to some extent if they were in a committed relationship, but based on what he said it sounds like she's the only person he's met off hinge." And a third said: "Idgaf [I don't give a f***] about hook ups btw but agree he's allowed to say he's not keen to continue things with her without her losing her mind like this. Hopefully the police help him." 4 Tak appeared on Love Island Australia in 2022 Credit: Nine Advertisement

Coronation Street icon quits cobbles after 25 years as she makes life changing decision
CORONATION Street's Eileen Grimshaw has bid farewell to Weatherfield to embark on a new adventure. Actress Sue Cleaver has played the feisty, but down to earth Eileen since 2000, but it has come time for her to say goodbye to the cobbles. 4 4 4 On Friday's episode, Eileen makes the life-changing decision to head to Thailand with son Jason (Ryan Thomas) and invest in his bar there. Eileen bids farewell in emotional scenes and after ending her relationship with undertaker George and admitting she only loved him as "dear friend." She also made the decision to make a fresh start in Thailand after being worn down by being suspected in her sister Julie's tragic death. In Friday's episode, Eileen's mind is turned to leaving the cobbles after hearing Theo's impassioned speech to his daughter Millie. Theo explains to his teenage daughter, that he can't return to live with her mum, his ex, because "it didn't feel right," after realising he was attracted to men and wanted to see where is his relationship with Todd went. George realised how Theo's speech moved Eileen and went to confront her after she'd been at the police who had just cleared her of any wrongdoing in Julie's death. "What happens now?" she says to George after she tells him that she does not love him in a romantic sense. George tells her: "You enjoy Thailand. I'm stopping here." Before finally leaving for good, Eileen stops by the Rovers Return for one last drink and is surprised with a big showing by her friends. Steve and Tim have organised a special send off from the Streetcars drivers, complete with ribbons on the cars. "Never knowingly understated, lads," Eileen tells the men with a smile. "Won't be the same without you," Tim tells her. Steve adds: "You know what, it's only just hit me that this has been one of the most important relationships of my life," promising he would come to visit her in Thailand. Her son Todd assures her before she leaves: "You deserve this mum." Even George stops by for a farewell, giving Eileen a gift of a neck pillow for the long flight and the pair promise to stay in touch. Eileen then gets into Steve's cab with Jason and waves farewell to the drivers in the street who salute her and honk their horns as the cab drives off. 4
