Thousands of visitors are expected at a new exhibition in Kirkcudbright.
More than 100 pieces from this year's Lapeca Scottish Landscape Awards have gone on display at Kirkcudbright Galleries.

And it is hoped more than 20,000 people will enjoy the display between now and the end of September.

This year's winner of the awards was Mick McGraw for his artwork Glen Croe landslide, August 31 2020.
His photo was taken from the slopes looking over the Rest and Be Thankful on the A83, an area repeatedly hit by landslides which Mick knows well as a member of Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team.
Mick, who is programme leader for the Master of Letters in the Fine Art Practice programme at Glasgow School of Art, wins £10,000 and a specially-commissioned sculpture by Lorna Fraser, who won the Scottish Landscape Sculpture Award in 2023.
Mick said: 'Landscape for me is layered with history, politics and human intervention. Glen Croe is not just a scenic view but a place where engineering solutions and natural forces collide, shaping how we navigate the familiar terrain.
'Winning this award encourages me to keep exploring these fragile intersections and to document how our attempts to control the landscape become part of its evolving story.'

The exhibition is the biggest and most ambitious survey of contemporary landscape art in Scotland today and includes emerging artists alongside established professionals working across a wide range of media – from painting, sculpture, drawing and miniatures, to photography and film.
Chair of Dumfries and Galloway Council's communities committee, Tracey Little, said: 'The Scottish Landscape Awards 2025 celebrates the powerful connection between place and creativity – honouring artists who capture the spirit of extraordinary landscapes.
'We are delighted that the partnership between Dumfries and Galloway Council and The Scottish Arts Trust has brought this significant exhibition to our region.'
The Scottish Landscape Awards exhibition is free to visit runs at Kirkcudbright Galleries until September 28.

Mick Jagger, 82, considering another baby with girlfriend, 38, 'if fate allows'

Legendary rocker Mick Jagger is reportedly considering having another baby with his girlfriend. The 82–year–old is currently engaged to former ballerina Melanie Hamrick, 38, and the pair have an eight-year-old son, Deveraux, known as Devi. According to sources close to the couple, however, the pair may be thinking of adding another little one to their small family. The Daily Mail reports that the pair have spoken about having another baby together 'if fate allows'. They claim that the former rock lothario is a late convert to the joys of a monogamous relationship, thanks in part to his advancing age and Melanie's own charms. 'With people of Mick's age, the ability to go off and cheat is disappearing rapidly,' a source told The Mail. 'So all of these old rockers like Rod Stewart and Mick and Ronnie Wood are now settling down.' Apparently, 'Melanie's secret' is that she's the 'smartest' of all his ex-girlfriends. 'Melanie's secret is that she bends like a ballerina to his every wish,' they explained. 'I would say that of all of his girlfriends, she has been the smartest of the lot. As the song goes, she gives him what he needs.' The source added that Melanie 'likes being Mick's girlfriend' and doesn't make demands of him or pressure him to get married because it's not a priority for her. What's more, the pair are 'very compatible' sharing a lot of interests – especially fitness – which makes them a great match. Supposedly, another reason for Melanie's success is the way she's built bridges with The Rolling Stones' singer's exes. Melanie recently attended Mick's birthday, where his former partner of 22 years, Jerry Hall, – and the mother of his four children – was in attendance, along with Luciana Morad, another ex. One of Melanie's friends told the Mail that 'she gets on great with Jerry and with all of the exes' and she's also got to know Mick's kids, who all like her. More Trending That said, the couple do apparently have one no-go area. 'One thing which she never does is talk about his age or about the age gap,' the Mail's source claimed. 'That does not exist as a topic.' Metro has reached out to Mick and Melanie's reps for comment. Got a story? Here is a look at some of the spin-off's most shocking moments from over the years. Parachute death 9 Sarah Barnes died in horrific, dramatic circumstances Credit: Channel 4 Viewers were left gobsmacked by Sarah Barnes' death in 2009 - which occurred in dramatic circumstances. Sarah (Loui Batley), along with her girlfriend Lydia (Lydia Kelly) and past flame Zoe (Zoe Carpenter), all went skydiving. But Lydia's jealousy took over, as she used a knife to sabotage one of the parachutes. Although she intended Zoe to use it, the three got mixed up leaving Lydia with no idea as to who had the faulty parachute. Rather than intervene, the three took to the skies - and Sarah ultimately plunged thousands of feet to her death. Raunchy scenes 9 Theresa McQueen and Joel Dexter sharing a passionate moment Credit: Channel 4 Hollyoaks Later was no stranger to more more mature or graphic moments. Cheating scandal, rival soap star and huge shocks in Hollyoaks' explosive summer trailer Speaking to Radio 1 in 2012, Jorgie Porter - who played Theresa McQueen - discussed the spin-off show's raunchiest scenes. She said: "What can I say? [The show's] probably the most extreme it's ever been right now. "There's loads of things happening." Jorgie added "I'm embarrassed about one scene [where I'm wearing just] a thong." Decapitated corpse 9 Violent thug Mick got more than what was originally planned Credit: Channel 4 In 2012, Brendan Brady (Emmett J. Scanlan) and Joel Dexter (Andrew Still) teamed up to scare the latter's violent stepfather, Mick. The pair dangled the thug from a lighthouse - only for him to fall to the ground, seemingly to his death. Although Mick survived the fall, Brendan's rival Simon Walker (Neil Newbon) intervened to finish the job. Unaware of this - and wanting to avoid any responsibility for the crime - Brendan got to work on dismembering Mick's corpse. Samurai sword death 9 Teen character Callum Kane received a gruesome departure Credit: Channel 4 In Hollyoaks Later's last full series - which aired back in 2013 - Callum Kane went out with a memorable exit. The teen character - played by Laurie Duncan - intervened to save friend Esther Bloom (Jazmine Franks). A bizarre storyline saw Esther targeted by villain Jade Hedy (Lucy Gape) - as the former's transplanted liver once belonged to Jade's ex. Jade prepared to cut Esther up, only for Callum to step in and pay the ultimate price. Coming back to screens The new episode will see the return of Warren Fox and Theresa McQueen to the show as actors Jamie Lomas and Jorgie reprise their roles. And Coronation Street star Tisha Merry is joining Hollyoaks as a series regular with her character Gemma debuting in the late night episode. The former American TV host doesn't have much positive to say about his time on the soap, claiming it was "hell on earth." Since his short-lived time on the show he has gone on to bigger things including smash hit comedy Gavin and Stacey. Rachel Shenton joined the soap as aspiring glamour model Mitzeee Minniver in 2010. Over two years her character was sent to prison, got pregnant and had a number of romantic affairs. Since leaving Hollyoaks she has won an Oscar for best live action short film, The Silent Child. Hannah's eating disorder storyline was the first of it's kind on TV while other plots included being caught in a fire, gangland drug dealing and running away. Since leaving the soap in 2010 Emma has gone on to star in ABCs Once Upon a Time in Wonderland as the Red Queen. Other roles include guest appearances in Death In Paradise, Ripper Street and Fresh Meat Nico Mirallegro got his big break with Hollyoaks starring as emo Barry 'Newt' Newton. After leaving the soap Ricky cracked America starring in teen drama The 100 and America Gods. He also appeared in Strictly Come Dancing in 2009. Jorgie added: 'It's really exciting to be a part of Laters, I've been in so many over the years and they're always my favourite - hopefully I get a swear word this time. 'Theresa is scheming with an unlikely business partner and it's fun to see her living life on the edge again.
