State troopers responded to 271 crashes and made 36 DUI arrests over Memorial Day weekend.
Troopers responded to 5,070 calls for service and made 1,347 traffic stops between midnight on Friday and 11:59 p.m. on Monday, according to the Connecticut State Police. Troopers also responded to 382 traffic-related complaints such as disabled vehicles, hazardous vehicles and debris in the road.
Of the 271 crashes reported over the weekend, 26 of them involved injuries, according to state police. Two of the crashes involved serious injuries and two led to fatalities, including those in Waterbury and Tolland, state police said.
On Sunday just before 11:30 p.m., 54-year-old Everaldo Ferreira De Oliveira of Waterbury was on the Interstate 84 East Exit 23 off-ramp in Waterbury in a 2009 Honda Odyssey when he struck a guardrail in the right shoulder, state police said. The vehicle then crossed over the Hamilton Avenue intersection and struck a concrete barrier on the on-ramp, state police said. De Oliveira suffered fatal injuries, state police said.
In Tolland, 21-year-old Tyler West of Tolland was driving a Honda CBR600RR motorcycle north on Route 195 on Monday when he collided with a Nissan Pathfinder that was pulling out of a driveway, according to state police. West was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police. The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and was not injured.

This includes under-counter refrigerators and freezers, a refrigerated sandwich table, convection oven, microwave, bagel warmer, coffee maker and two fry pans. Surveillance footage from a Saturday allegedly shows him loading one of those under-counter refrigerators onto a town-owned truck and later returning in his personal pickup to transport a second unit. Additional video from the State Police Fusion Center then shows his pickup crossing the Sagamore Bridge with the stolen refrigerator secured in its bed, bound for Cape Cod, the statement said. Las Cruces Police release images of suspected vehicle involved in deadly shooting
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Las Cruces Police have released photos of a vehicle believed to have been driven by the suspect involved in the shooting that killed a 14-year-old boy earlier this week. As we've previously reported, the shooting happened around 9 p.m. on Monday, June 2, near the intersection of Solano Drive and Spruce Avenue, where 14-year-old Alejandro Roman died as a result of an alleged road rage incident. Las Cruces Police said they have obtained the images of the suspect vehicle and are releasing them in hopes of someone recognizing the vehicle or the person who was driving the vehicle on the evening of the shooting. Anyone who has information on who might be responsible for the deadly shooting is asked to call police at (575) 526-0795. According to Las Cruces Police, Crime Stoppers of Las Cruces-Doña Ana County is offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest.
