Penn Hills man charged in connection with deadly Monroeville crash
Police have charged a Penn Hils man in connection with a crash in Monroeville that killed a woman and hurt three more in 2024. Allegheny County police say Marcus Alston Sr., 49, was the driver of a Nissan Pathfinder that crashed into the rear of a Toyota Rav 4 around midnight on Nov. 3 on Route 22, William Penn Highway. According to detectives, Alston's vehicle was traveling at more than 90 miles per hour when the crash occurred. The posted speed limit there is 35 miles per hour. Police say all four were taken to area hospitals in stable condition. Shiya Young, the passenger in Alston's vehicle, was pronounced dead. Detectives say Alston's blood alcohol content was .233 percent, and he was found to have a suspended driver's license. Alston is now facing multiple charges, including homicide by vehicle, homicide by vehicle while DUI, involuntary manslaughter and recklessly endangering another person. MPD investigating overnight shooting in motel parking lot
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police are looking for two men they said were involved in an overnight shootout in the parking lot of an Airport area motel. At 12:20 a.m., officers responded to the Budget Inn located at 2745 Airways Blvd. When they arrived, security told them that there was a shooting in the property's parking lot. Officers checked surveillance video footage and discovered that a shootout took place between two people. In the video footage, a man in a black hoodie (Suspect #1) was seen arguing with a man in a red hoodie (Suspect #2). Man killed in Frayser shooting Suspect #1 then pointed a gun and fired at Suspect #2, who returned fire and hid behind a white Nissan Pathfinder that was parked nearby. Police said both suspects left the scene. Suspect #1 ran away on foot, heading southbound in the parking lot. Suspect #2 headed westbound in the parking. Security told officers that Suspect #1 returned to a room at the motel. They tried to detain him, but he fled on foot and scaled a fence on the west side of the complex. Connecticut State Police respond to 271 crashes over Memorial Day weekend, make 36 DUI arrests
State troopers responded to 271 crashes and made 36 DUI arrests over Memorial Day weekend. Troopers responded to 5,070 calls for service and made 1,347 traffic stops between midnight on Friday and 11:59 p.m. on Monday, according to the Connecticut State Police. Troopers also responded to 382 traffic-related complaints such as disabled vehicles, hazardous vehicles and debris in the road. Of the 271 crashes reported over the weekend, 26 of them involved injuries, according to state police. Two of the crashes involved serious injuries and two led to fatalities, including those in Waterbury and Tolland, state police said. On Sunday just before 11:30 p.m., 54-year-old Everaldo Ferreira De Oliveira of Waterbury was on the Interstate 84 East Exit 23 off-ramp in Waterbury in a 2009 Honda Odyssey when he struck a guardrail in the right shoulder, state police said. The vehicle then crossed over the Hamilton Avenue intersection and struck a concrete barrier on the on-ramp, state police said. De Oliveira suffered fatal injuries, state police said. In Tolland, 21-year-old Tyler West of Tolland was driving a Honda CBR600RR motorcycle north on Route 195 on Monday when he collided with a Nissan Pathfinder that was pulling out of a driveway, according to state police. West was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police. The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and was not injured.

Motorcyclist dies in crash involving SUV in Tolland
A motorcyclist was killed during a crash on Route 195 in Tolland on Monday. Tyler West, 21, of Tolland was driving a Honda CBR600RR north in the area of 593 Merrow Road — which is also known as 195 — when he collided with a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder that was being pulled out of a driveway to turn left and head south, according to Connecticut State Police. State police said the collision occurred in the northbound lane. West became separated from the bike and suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said. The driver of the Pathfinder, a 33-year-old Mansfield man, did not report any injuries and remained at the scene, according to state police. The crash remains under investigation. Any witnesses have been asked to contact Troop C at 860-896-3200.

Girl, 7, walks alone on NY highway after parents pass out in car: police
MEDFORD, N.Y. (PIX11) – A 7-year-old girl was found walking down a Long Island highway while her parents were allegedly passed out in a car after drinking on Sunday, according to authorities. Police said multiple 911 calls were made about the child, who was discovered along Express Drive North in Medford around 10:45 a.m. More Local News Officers found the girl's parents in a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder that still had the engine running, according to authorities. Police said 37-year-old Victor Dominguez and 35-year-old Inosencia Hernandez-Barranco were unconscious and allegedly intoxicated. The child was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated, according to authorities. Police said Dominguez was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, endangering the welfare of a child and Leandra's Law. Hernandez-Barranco faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child, according to authorities. Both were held overnight to be arraigned in Central Islip.
