Antioch teen bicyclist critically injured in collision with vehicle

A 13-year-old boy on a bicycle was struck by a vehicle and severely injured in Antioch on Monday evening, authorities said. The incident happened at about 6:46 p.m. at the intersection of Lone Tree Way and Muirwood Way. The Antioch Police Department said in a press release on Tuesday that officers witnessed the collision between the teen and a Nissan Pathfinder heading west on Lone Tree Way through the intersection, hitting the bicyclist who was crossing Lone Tree heading north. The officers were able to immediately provide aid to the teen who was on the ground and unresponsive, police said. The boy was eventually taken by helicopter to a hospital with major injuries and was listed in critical but stable condition. Police said the 24-year-old man driving the Nissan stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The cause of the collision was not immediately known, but police said neither speed nor impairment by drugs or alcohol appeared to be factors based on a preliminary investigation. The Police Department's traffic unit was investigating the incident.

Lake County crashes leave 1 dead, another critically injured

A motorcyclist was killed and a Volo woman was critically injured in unrelated weekend accidents in Lake County, according to police. The cyclist, who was 19, died in what police say was a hit-and-run incident in Beach Park. The Lake County Sheriff's Office said it was called at about 5:50 a.m. Sunday for a report of a motorcycle and rider down off the roadway near the intersection of Green Bay Road and Sallmon Avenue. Officers responded and found the deceased rider near a Kawasaki sports bike. The motorcycle, according to police, had damage consistent with being struck by another vehicle which then left the scene. An autopsy has been scheduled. The identity of the rider has not been released. A criminal investigation is being conducted, the sheriff's office said. In the second incident, a Volo woman was critically injured when she reportedly ran a red light and struck another vehicle near Grayslake Sunday morning, the sheriff's office said. The woman, 32, was driving east on Illinois Route 60 at about 7 a.m. when witnesses reported that she failed to stop at a red light at the Fairfield Road intersection, police said. The woman's car, a Volkswagen Atlas, collided in the intersection with a southbound Nissan Pathfinder driven by a Round Lake Beach woman. Both vehicles then struck a light pole, police said. The Volo woman was transported to a hospital with critical injuries, police said. The driver and two passengers in the other vehicle were taken to a hospital. Police said their injuries were not life-threatening.

Ford Drops Attractive 2025 Explorer Lease Offer for July

The Ford Explorer got some small updates for the 2025 model year, and for July, Ford's rolling out an attractive lease deal that makes getting into the driver's seat an even more attractive prospect. Currently, shoppers can take home a 2025 Ford Explorer Active RWD for $329 per month for 36 months. You'll need $4,429 due at signing and have 10,500 miles per year to play with. Ford's throwing in extras, too, like a complimentary two-year maintenance plan. That deal sounds pretty good - it's noticeably better than the July 2025 Nissan Pathfinder lease - but it changes a little bit depending on where you are. The New York metro area sees a slight change, at $339 per month and $4,339 down. Shoppers in areas including the Chicago metro, Miami, and Southwest (including Phoenix) will need just $499 down, although the monthly payment strays a bit closer to $500 per month at $499 per month. Remember, these figures don't include local taxes, dealership fees, and other costs, so it's always best to get a quote from a Ford dealership. Or, check out the latest Ford Explorer incentives and offers yourself. The Ford Explorer, as advertised in this lease deal, may be a base model, but it's still shockingly well-equipped. A standard third row and tri-zone automatic climate control ensure passengers are comfortable, but drivers have a lot to look forward to as well. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, four front-row USB slots, and a 13.2-inch touchscreen are all standard equipment. The 300-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder offers 5,000 pounds of towing capacity right out of the box. Second-row captain's chairs also give the Explorer a bit of a luxurious touch. Updates for the 2025 model year include a new front fascia design that includes a new grille and headlights, new materials inside, and new software powering the digital displays. By spreading the down payment across the full 36-month term, we can get a good idea of what a Ford Explorer lease looks like with no money out of pocket. It bumps the monthly cost by $123, bringing the new monthly payment to $452 per month. For the New York metro, the payment jumps just eight dollars - your monthly payment is around $460. Other markets can expect a modest jump to $513 per month. No matter which lease offer you look at, it's hardly breaking the bank. Remember that these aren't official zero-down estimates, and your payment will be higher after taxes and fees. The Ford Explorer debuted over thirty years ago, and the SUV landscape has changed significantly since then. While that's good news for consumers, the Ford Explorer is a tough sell when juxtaposed with high-flyers like the Hyundai Palisade and Toyota Grand Highlander. Of course, with this compelling lease offer, the Explorer makes a better case for itself. It's worth taking advantage of if you're considering a three-row SUV and price is near the top of your priorities. *Disclaimer: This article is provided for informational purposes only.
