Popular car brand Volkswagen are looking to offer a new practical alternative to SUVs with qualities similar to the iconic microbus.
The German brand is considering launching an electric, compact multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) to replace the well-loved Touran model, which could be launched as soon as 2027.

MPVs are renowned for their space, practicality and people carrying, making them the ideal family car.
According to Autocar, the new vehicle would be positioned beneath the 'ID Buzz,' offering a smaller footprint, a lighter weight, and a more affordable price.
It is these features that have led to the car being likened to a modern-day microbus.
The microbus was first introduced in 1950 and went on to have an iconic history, becoming synonymous with hippie culture.
The design direction of the new model is still under wraps although it is expected to be influenced by the likes of the 2011 Bulli and 2016 Budd-e.
This new take on the classic Microbus type 2 is reportedly aimed at families looking for a 'no-nonsense, high-utility electric vehicle with sliding rear doors and strong day-to-day usability.'
It is rumoured that this new model is under internal review, with a production decision yet to be officially made.
Reportedly, Volkswagen recently retrieved various MPV concepts from storage to support these internal discussions and explore how their design could be adapted for a new model.
Autocar added: 'This move reflects a broader shift in thinking in Volkswagen's Wolfsburg headquarters in Germany, where there is renewed recognition that a dedicated family-focused MPV may still have commercial relevance.'
This model would rival popular electric SUV models like the Skoda Elroq, The Volvo EX30 and the Tesla Model Y.

The design direction of the car is also yet to be revealed, although buyers can expect an upright silhouette, short overhangs, a flat floor and a high roof line.
All of these considerations have been made with the aim of making the car as spacious as possible.
Launched in 2003, the Touran model is one of the most successful European models of its type with 2.6 million units sold globally.
However, it could soon be replaced with this new model.
It is reported that if given the green light, the new model could be released as soon as 2027 or 2028.
This has the potential to revive the Touran badge in line with Volkswagen's plan to provide future EVs with traditional names instead of the ID numbers used today.'

Sporting director Max Eberl said to Sky Germany: "If I'm honest, I don't know if we could have paid what Liverpool are apparently paying now. Florian Wirtz is an outstanding player. We could have imagined signing him. But when a door closes, another opens." Eberl is not the first Bayern chief to speak out on their failed move for Wirtz. Club president Herbert Hainer dropped the bombshell news last month that their bid had failed. He said: "[Director of sport] Max Eberl has informed me that Florian Wirtz is probably leaning towards Liverpool. I can't say how things will continue with Leverkusen." Meanwhile, former Liverpool star Dietmarr Hamann revealed that Wirtz and his family were left convinced by the way the Reds went about their attempts in signing the midfielder and hailed the move. He said: "Florian Wirtz has made a decision. I believe it's the right one. Will Florian Wirtz be a good signing for Liverpool? Share your thoughts in the comments below "Things are really happening at Liverpool under Arne Slot. They'll sign, or want to sign, two or three other players, from what I hear. Kenvue mulls sale of some skin health and beauty brands, sources say
NEW YORK, June 12 (Reuters) - Kenvue (KVUE.N), opens new tab is exploring the sale of some of its skin health and beauty brands, four people familiar with the matter said on Thursday, as the consumer health firm prunes an underperforming business segment to focus on core products. The company, which was spun out of Johnson & Johnson (JNJ.N), opens new tab in 2023, is zeroing in on smaller brands in the unit to sell such as Clean & Clear, Maui Moisture, Neostrata, its German baby care brand Bebe, and Japanese brand the sources said. It plans to hold onto the bigger names in the unit, such as Neutrogena and Aveeno, the sources said. There are about a dozen brands in the skin health and beauty unit, and sources cautioned that the divestiture package could change and no deal was guaranteed. Investment bankers at Goldman Sachs (GS.N), opens new tab are working with Kenvue on the divestment process, they added. Kenvue and Goldman declined to comment. The around half-dozen brands earmarked for sale would generate more than $500 million of revenue together, two of the sources said, a small portion of Kenvue's overall revenue, which was $15.5 billion in 2024. The skin health and beauty unit has been a drag on Kenvue's earnings, but the company has dedicated more money to marketing, especially on Neutrogena ad campaigns. The unit's organic sales declined 4.8% year-over-year in Kenvue's latest quarter that ended March 30. Kenvue, which also makes Tylenol and Band-Aids, has faced activist pressure over the last year from Starboard Value, Toms Capital Management and Third Point. It settled with Starboard in March, when it added the investment firm's founder to its board. Some of the activists have been pushing the company to consider selling itself or certain brands.
