DeMarcus Cousins Involved In A Heated Altercation With A Fan
Cousins found himself at the center of a stormy scuffle with fans as his team, Mets de Guaynabo, squared off against Vaqueros de Bayamon in the Puerto Rican Baloncesto Superior Nacional on Monday.
In clips making the rounds on social media, Cousins was casually strolling on the pitch and seemed to be getting something off his eyes before turning to a court-side fan who appeared to make a crying gesture towards him.

Cousins, approaching the fan, grabbed his crotch, which led to the fan giving him the double middle-finger sign. The 34-year-old power forward then grabbed the fan's arm before one of his teammates came, attempting to de-escalate things.
Another fan in a pink shirt quickly stood up and was furiously pointing at Cousins before officials and several other teammates came to separate him from the crowd.
Fans Poured Beer On The Former NBA All-Star As He Left The Game
The direct confrontation between Cousins and the fan seemingly spread across the crowd at the Coliseo Rubén Rodríguez, where the match took place.

In another viral social media clip, Cousins can be seen making his way into the locker room after he was ejected from the game, but was greeted by angry fans who were pointing to the alley.
Flexing on his way into the locker room, one fan reached over the railing and seemingly made a crude gesture before Cousins reached up, attempting to hit the fan.
The fan then threw his clear drink at Cousins before other fans started throwing theirs at him, with some even hurling bottles his way. Authorities held Cousins back and tackled him to the ground, but he managed to stand up before facing another wave of drinks and objects being thrown at him.
The former Kings star was helped to the back, with his team eventually falling 101-92 to the Vaqueros de Bayamon team. Cousins put up 11 points and seven rebounds.
Fans Online Called Out DeMarcus Cousins For Losing His 'Cool'
Several netizens took to social media to react to the scenes, with many bashing Cousins for losing his "cool" over such an incident.

"Dude, you're the NBA player the fans pay to see. Play the game, and ignore the peanut gallery," a fan wrote on X. "DeMarcus could have easily had the guy escorted out of there, but he chose to be lured in to fully engage in the ignorant exchange, just to end up ejected and embarrassed, having drinks and snacks launched at him on the walk of shame to the locker room."
Another fan commented, "Players have to have the sense to keep their cool and allow security to handle it. They risk getting hefty lawsuits, which isn't smart at all. Jurors have little sympathy for wealthy entitled sports figures, right or wrong doesn't always win."
"I think Demarcus might have some other bad things going on in his life. Ain't no way you should let fans get this much in your head," one fan penned.
"Players are so soft now, a fan making a crying gesture sets Cousins off? Like seriously, the fans were way worse in the 80's and 90's," another fan wrote.

"Should players be held to a higher standard of behavior than fans, or is it a two-way street?" a fan quizzed.
"Bro... boogie woulda folded you like laundry. Sit yo a-z down," another user penned.
One more person said, "Them fans better be happy Cousins ain't go to the stands he would've had them Puerto Ricans yelling for Jesus to save 'em."

He has been in the news for his bold takes and predictions concerning the NBA, and bragged in an interview with HoopsHype that he can "dominate in any era" after he was asked how he would adapt his game to "dominate this era."
"The way I'm wired and the way I'm built, I feel like I could dominate in any era. I'm very confident in my abilities, my work ethic, and the commitment I've put into my craft. No matter when I played, I believe I would have stood out. That's just who I am," he said.

2024-25 Thunder player grades: Alex Ducas

The calendar has flipped to August, which means we've officially hit the low point of the NBA cycle. The next couple of months are the driest part of the year. Everybody has headed to vacation and awaits training camp to kick off the 2025-26 season. The Oklahoma City Thunder continue to enjoy their NBA championship. They had a historic 68-14 regular-season campaign that eventually led to the franchise's first title with a 2025 NBA Finals Game 7 win. They'll enter next season as a favorite to be a rare repeat winner. To reflect on their title run, Thunder Wire will conduct 2024-25 season grades for all 19 players who suited up for the squad at one point during the year. Seventeenth up is Alex Ducas, who spent the year on a two-way deal: 2024-25 statistics: Advanced stats: Significant Percentile Finishes: Contract: Thoughts: If Ducas' NBA career is over after one season, he had his money's worth. The 24-year-old can always say he was part of one of the greatest teams in league history and got a championship ring out of it. Besides that, though, not much to write about his forgettable tenure. The Thunder added Ducas on a two-way deal. He went undrafted out of Saint Mary's. He was brought in as an outside shooter. In his limited time, the numbers showed that. Because the Thunder blew teams out left and right, the end of their bench received plenty of garbage time throughout the year. Ducas benefitted from that. He appeared in 21 games. A high number for somebody who missed most of the season dealing with injuries. Besides that, he didn't do much else during his time with the Thunder. Not much either with the G League's OKC Blue, either. He faded into the background of most games. It just didn't work out for Ducas on the Thunder. He was added to their 2025 Summer League squad, hinting that maybe they'd like to bring him back for a second season. But those hopes were quickly erased when he signed a deal to go to Australia's NBL. Most undrafted players usually have Ducas' career arc. They stay for one season, but don't get many chances to stay. The injuries certainly didn't help. He missed a good chunk of the year because of them. Even though he only lasted a season in the NBA, he can at least say he experienced a championship. Moving Forward: Even though Ducas didn't do much, he at least proved he can be an outside shooter. The shooting splits reflect that. That'll be his bread and butter the rest of the way, regardless of what level of professional basketball he's in. The NBL was excited to add the NBA champion to its league. They don't get too many guys with that type of experience. Let's see if Ducas can look more comfortable at home. Perhaps he can be a player who spends some time overseas before being given a second shot at the NBA. There's always a need for outside shooters. If he can increase his volume for a couple of years, he can return to the league. The Thunder loved what they saw from Ducas at Maryland. To get a two-way deal as an undrafted rookie is quite the accomplishment. They tried to see if he could show anything at the next level. A handful of injuries limited his opportunities. While his decision to leave the Thunder for the NBL was a bit of a shocker, it's not a catastrophic loss. They still have a vacant two-way spot on their roster. Surely they can find somebody who has equal or greater upside than Ducas over the next couple of months. Final Grade: D-minus

Timberwolves' Joan Beringer reveals reasoning behind new jersey number

Rookie Joan Beringer will begin his career in the NBA with the Minnesota Timberwolves with a new jersey number after opting to change from the one he used in Europe. Beringer wore No. 20 both with Cedevita Olimpija in Slovenia last season and with Espoirs Strasbourg in France during the two prior years. He previously donned No. 18 while representing France at the 2024 FIBA U18 EuroBasket. Though No. 20 isn't currently occupied on the Timberwolves, Beringer opted to switch to play with No. 19 next season. He revealed after joining the team that there isn't necessarily any significant meaning behind his new number. Beringer helped Cedevita Olimpija win the Slovenian Basketball Cup last season, averaging 5.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks on 64.4% shooting from the field. He scored in double figures 11 times, including a season-high 14 points and 10 rebounds on May 27. The 17th pick made four appearances with the Timberwolves in the NBA Summer League, averaging 6.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 1.5 assists on 52.6% shooting from the field. He debuted with 11 points, eight rebounds and six blocks on July 10. Beringer will be the latest player to make the jump from Europe to the NBA. The organization was excited to add him through the draft and is eager to see him take the court next season. Note: Throughout August, Rookie Wire is looking at every first-round pick and why each player selected their respective jersey number as they make the jump to the NBA. Rafer Alston reveals he would rather play pickup basketball with Jordan than Magic because he cheats: "At least Mike will play ball and not call all that"

Rafer Alston reveals he would rather play pickup basketball with Jordan than Magic because he cheats: "At least Mike will play ball and not call all that" originally appeared on Basketball Network. Rafer Alston, better known as "Skip 2 My Lou" in streetball circles, carved a solid NBA career across 11 seasons. Originally from New York, Alston went all over the East and West coasts trying to make his dream work. Alston found himself playing pickup games with Michael Jordan in Chicago during one of his countless stops. It was an experience he surely would never forget, but Alston couldn't help but take a dig at another NBA legend — Magic Johnson. "I had a chance to go to Chicago in the summer and work out with Mike, play some pickup ball," recalled the And-1 mixtape legend. "Mike talked shit the whole game. But I'd rather play pickup ball with Mike than Magic Johnson. Magic cheats. Magic is 1000-0 in his pickup runs that he held in L.A. at UCLA." "At least Mike would play ball and Mike wouldn't call all that," added Alston. Magic was known for more than his passing ability From what it sounded like, Alston chose to work out with MJ over Johnson for a very specific reason. By then, Magic was well past his prime, making any "cheating" situations all the more frustrating. Jordan was expected to talk smack, but outright calling phantom fouls at his bidding would have made playing against Johnson insufferable. "If he missed a shot, y'all going down laying the ball up on the other end, he's like, 'Yo, y'all gonna stop this buffoonery and bring my foul.' Everybody was like, 'Who fouled you, Magic?' Everyone can vouch for this story," added Alston. Everyone who was there knew this. Even Paul Pierce talked about this on national television, and Johnson openly admitted to this as well. It didn't seem like it was a big deal for Pierce and the youngsters who were victimized by Johnson's antics, but the latter claimed he did it to teach them a lesson about overcoming adversity. Whatever Magic's reason was, it was evident that Skip 2 My Lou didn't want any part of it. After all, going up against His Airness in any basketball setting would have had all the makings of a story you'd tell your the streets to the NBA Alston was one of a few in the mixtape, streetball era to transition and do well in the Association. That said, it was never easy, as having that streetball cred sometimes gave others the impression that he didn't belong. Needless to say, Alston proved them wrong. That makes Alston's journey and career the ultimate feel-good story. Most players came up through prep schools and blue-blood programs, but he went through Rucker Park, VHS tapes and open runs where flair mattered more than fundamentals. But even in a league that often looked down on the flashier parts of streetball, Alston proved that the NBA could be his playground, too. That's why his preference for no-nonsense pickup games with Mike over Magic's antics said a lot. For all the flash and swagger that made him a streetball icon, Alston still valued structure, competition and the purity of the game. Beneath the crossovers and crowd-pleasing moves was a player who just wanted to hoop without story was originally reported by Basketball Network on Aug 9, 2025, where it first appeared.
