India will fight terror with methods Pakistan 'can't imagine': Rajnath
India will use 'every method' to fight terrorism, including options "that Pakistan cannot even think of", said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday.
Speaking to naval personnel aboard aircraft carrier INS Vikrant off the coast of Goa, Singh said the "dangerous game" of terrorism Pakistan has pursued against India since Independence is over. "We will use every method against terrorism that Pakistan can think of, but we will not hesitate to use those methods also which Pakistan cannot even think of."
He called Operation Sindoor a frontal assault against terrorism, referring to the target military operation India carried out earlier in May. After terrorists killed 26 civilians in Pahalgam on April 22, India conducted coordinated missile strikes during the night of May 6–7, targeting nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Uproot 'nurseries of terrorism': Rajnath Singh to Pakistan
Singh urged Pakistan to dismantle the terror infrastructure within its territory. "It would be in Pakistan's interest to uproot 'nurseries of terrorism' operating on its soil," he said. He warned that India reserves the right to act against terrorists. "Anti-India activities are being carried out openly from Pakistani soil. India is completely free to carry out any kind of operation against terrorists, both on this side and the other side of the border and sea," he said.
"Today, the whole world is acknowledging India's right to protect its citizens against terrorism. Today, no power in the world can stop India from doing this work," he stated.
Rajnath praises Indian Navy
Commending the Indian Navy for its role in Operation Sindoor, Singh said, "The Indian Navy has impressed every Indian with its silent service. By remaining silent, the Indian Navy succeeded in keeping the Pakistani army tied down."
He noted that while the Indian Air Force struck terror bases across the border, the Navy's strategic presence in the Arabian Sea ensured the Pakistani Navy remained confined to its own waters.
India halted military action 'on our own terms': Rajnath Singh
On the scale and impact of the operation, Singh stated, "Our strike was so powerful that Pakistan began pleading with the entire world to stop India." He added that the armed forces acted with " speed, depth, and clarity" in neutralising terrorist threats and dismantling their infrastructure.
Operation Sindoor not only sent a clear message to terrorists but also to their patrons who nurture them, Singh said, noting that India halted its military action "on our own terms".

'The prosecution will submit formal charges against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina at the ICT-BD tomorrow in a case filed over crimes against humanity committed during the July-August 2024 mass uprising,' the state-run BSS said. Hasina's Awami League regime was ousted in after mass protests led by a platform called Students against Discrimination (SAD) on August 5, 2024; three days later Muhamad Yunus took charge as Chief Adviser of the interim government. ICT-BD prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim told reporters that the tribunal's proceedings would start at 9.30 am local time and that the official Bangladesh Television (BTV) has been asked to broadcast the proceedings live. 'The entire nation will witness the submission of the first formal charges to the tribunal against influential figures of the ousted Awami League government, including Sheikh Hasina,' Gazi said, adding that the move would 'ensure transparency in the judicial process'. ICT-BD's chief prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam said the tribunal would simultaneously hear charges against former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and former police chief Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, both in jail to stand trial. This tribunal was originally formed by the past regime to try hardened collaborators of Pakistani troops during the 1971 Liberation War. Lucknow: Rajeev Krishna, who recently supervised the hiring of over 60,000 cops in UP Police as the chief of police recruitment board, was appointed as the new director general of police on Saturday. The appointment of the 1991 batch IPS officer Krishna to head India's largest police force was announced after a day-long suspense amid talks of the possible extension of the outgoing DGP Prashant Kumar . At present, Krishna was also the DG, vigilance, apart from heading the police recruitment board. He will continue to hold these posts. His retirement is due in June 2029. After instances of paper leak and subsequent cancellation of one of the largest recruitment drives ever last year, Krishna was given the charge of the board and he oversaw the smooth completion of the drive -- a process hailed for its transparency and efficiency amid mounting public scrutiny following exam leak last year. His appointment is being seen as a reward for this feat as he has superseded 11 other senior officers to get the coveted post. Prashant Kumar, when he was given the charge of the acting DGP in Feb 2024, was 18th on the seniority list of IPS officers. After clearing the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 1991, he was inducted into the Indian Police Service. One of the most impactful chapters of his career was his tenure as SSP Agra in 2004, when he led decisive crackdowns against notorious kidnapping gangs operating in the ravines. Known for his strategic acumen and clean image, Krishna's appointment is seen as a move toward reinforcing both the credibility and modernisation of Uttar Pradesh's policing system.
