India will fight terror with methods Pakistan 'can't imagine': Rajnath

India will use 'every method' to fight terrorism, including options "that Pakistan cannot even think of", said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday.
Speaking to naval personnel aboard aircraft carrier INS Vikrant off the coast of Goa, Singh said the "dangerous game" of terrorism Pakistan has pursued against India since Independence is over. "We will use every method against terrorism that Pakistan can think of, but we will not hesitate to use those methods also which Pakistan cannot even think of."
He called Operation Sindoor a frontal assault against terrorism, referring to the target military operation India carried out earlier in May. After terrorists killed 26 civilians in Pahalgam on April 22, India conducted coordinated missile strikes during the night of May 6–7, targeting nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Uproot 'nurseries of terrorism': Rajnath Singh to Pakistan
Singh urged Pakistan to dismantle the terror infrastructure within its territory. "It would be in Pakistan's interest to uproot 'nurseries of terrorism' operating on its soil," he said. He warned that India reserves the right to act against terrorists. "Anti-India activities are being carried out openly from Pakistani soil. India is completely free to carry out any kind of operation against terrorists, both on this side and the other side of the border and sea," he said.
"Today, the whole world is acknowledging India's right to protect its citizens against terrorism. Today, no power in the world can stop India from doing this work," he stated.
Rajnath praises Indian Navy
Commending the Indian Navy for its role in Operation Sindoor, Singh said, "The Indian Navy has impressed every Indian with its silent service. By remaining silent, the Indian Navy succeeded in keeping the Pakistani army tied down."
He noted that while the Indian Air Force struck terror bases across the border, the Navy's strategic presence in the Arabian Sea ensured the Pakistani Navy remained confined to its own waters.
India halted military action 'on our own terms': Rajnath Singh
On the scale and impact of the operation, Singh stated, "Our strike was so powerful that Pakistan began pleading with the entire world to stop India." He added that the armed forces acted with " speed, depth, and clarity" in neutralising terrorist threats and dismantling their infrastructure.
Operation Sindoor not only sent a clear message to terrorists but also to their patrons who nurture them, Singh said, noting that India halted its military action "on our own terms".

Bangladeshi tribunal to hear charges against ousted PM Hasina; proceedings to be broadcast live on state TV

Bangladesh's International Crimes Tribunal is set to formally hear charges against deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday allowing state run BTV to broadcast live the event, a first such instance in the country's history. read more Bangladesh's International Crimes Tribunal will officially begin hearing charges against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday, with state-run BTV set to broadcast the proceedings live—a first in the country's history. Hasina, who was removed from office on August 5 last year following widespread student protests, is facing several cases in Bangladeshi courts that have so far prohibited photography and live telecasts of her trial. However, the decision of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT-BD) to allow live streaming is set to break the tradition in the case of Hasina, who could face the death penalty on the charges brought against her. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The three-judge tribunal had earlier ordered on February 18 that the investigation against Hasina be completed by April. 'The prosecution will submit formal charges against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina at the ICT-BD tomorrow in a case filed over crimes against humanity committed during the July-August 2024 mass uprising,' the state-run BSS said. Hasina's Awami League regime was ousted in after mass protests led by a platform called Students against Discrimination (SAD) on August 5, 2024; three days later Muhamad Yunus took charge as Chief Adviser of the interim government. ICT-BD prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim told reporters that the tribunal's proceedings would start at 9.30 am local time and that the official Bangladesh Television (BTV) has been asked to broadcast the proceedings live. 'The entire nation will witness the submission of the first formal charges to the tribunal against influential figures of the ousted Awami League government, including Sheikh Hasina,' Gazi said, adding that the move would 'ensure transparency in the judicial process'. ICT-BD's chief prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam said the tribunal would simultaneously hear charges against former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and former police chief Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, both in jail to stand trial. This tribunal was originally formed by the past regime to try hardened collaborators of Pakistani troops during the 1971 Liberation War. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Six top leaders of the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and one leader of the former prime minister Khaleda Zia's Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) were hanged to death after they were convicted by the court. The ICT-BD earlier issued an arrest warrant against Hasina while the interim government sought her repatriation from India in a diplomatic note. New Delhi has only acknowledged receipt with no further comment. Most senior leaders and officials of Hasina's party and government were arrested to face charges like mass murders to tame the protestors during the July-August violence when hundreds of people, including students and policemen were killed. According to a UN rights office report some 1,400 people were killed between July 15 and August 15 last year as violence continued even after the fall of the past regime. With inputs from agencies

Fadnavis draws parallels between Op Sindoor & first column raised by Ahilyabai Holkar

Nashik: At a gathering in Ahilyanagar's Chondi on Saturday, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis drew a comparison between women's involvement in Operation Sindoor — India's response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 tourists — and the pioneering women's military unit established during Ahilyabai Holkar's reign. During the commencement of Ahilyadevi Holkar's 300th birth anniversary celebrations, Fadnavis said: "Ahilyadevi was the first queen who raised the first column of women soldiers, taking the mantle of defending the Swarajya in their hands. Today, we can see how the women performed in Operation Sindoor at various levels." He added, "Just as Ahilyadevi, known for her military prowess and strategic leadership, started manufacturing weapons indigenously, our country has manufactured Brahmos, used by India to destroy the air bases in Pakistan during the operation." The chief minister shared an anecdote about Ahilyadevi's progressive stance on dowry, where she implemented a ban after encountering a father's difficulty in arranging for his daughter's marriage due to dowry demands. Fadnavis stressed on his govt's commitment to following Ahilyadevi's example of uplifting disadvantaged communities, stating, "Our govt is also committed to the development of the deprived and will ensure the upliftment of each and everybody." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Esse novo alarme com câmera é quase gratuito em Franco Da Rocha (consulte o preço) Alarmes Saiba Mais Undo He talked of Ahilyadevi's water conservation efforts through the construction of stepwells, which continue to serve local communities even today. Rajeev Krishna replacesPrashant as new UP DGP

Lucknow: Rajeev Krishna, who recently supervised the hiring of over 60,000 cops in UP Police as the chief of police recruitment board, was appointed as the new director general of police on Saturday. The appointment of the 1991 batch IPS officer Krishna to head India's largest police force was announced after a day-long suspense amid talks of the possible extension of the outgoing DGP Prashant Kumar . At present, Krishna was also the DG, vigilance, apart from heading the police recruitment board. He will continue to hold these posts. His retirement is due in June 2029. After instances of paper leak and subsequent cancellation of one of the largest recruitment drives ever last year, Krishna was given the charge of the board and he oversaw the smooth completion of the drive -- a process hailed for its transparency and efficiency amid mounting public scrutiny following exam leak last year. His appointment is being seen as a reward for this feat as he has superseded 11 other senior officers to get the coveted post. Prashant Kumar, when he was given the charge of the acting DGP in Feb 2024, was 18th on the seniority list of IPS officers. Like his predecessor, Krishna is the fifth officer to hold the position of acting DGP since 2022. The last permanent DGP in the state was Mukul Goel, who was removed three years ago. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like CFD: Invertir $100 con IA podría devolverte un segundo salario Digital Group Prueba ahora Undo Since then, DS Chauhan, RK Vishwakarma, Vijaya Kumar, and Prashant Kumar have served as acting chiefs. Earlier, Krishna has served as the DG of the Uttar Pradesh Police Academy, where he was responsible for training and mentoring new generations of police officers. Krishna has held several challenging field assignments, including postings as SP/SSP in Mathura, Etawah, Agra, Noida, and Lucknow. He was also the founding chief of the UP Anti-Terror Squad (ATS), where he laid the groundwork for counter-terror operations in the state. At the national level, Krishna served as inspector general of operations in the Border Security Force (BSF), where he oversaw operations along both the Indo-Pakistan and Indo-Bangladesh borders for four years. During this tenure, he implemented a sensor-based Comprehensive and Integrated Border Management System, enhancing surveillance and operational effectiveness along sensitive frontiers. In 2018–19, he served as the ADG of Lucknow Zone, managing critical law and order situations across central Uttar Pradesh. Prior to that, he was SSP Lucknow. Regarded as a forward-thinking officer with a strong focus on technology-driven policing, Krishna introduced several notable innovations. While serving as ADG of Agra Zone, he launched Operation Pehchaan, a mobile-based platform to identify and track repeat offenders. He also integrated online monitoring for women's beat policing and Anti-Romeo squads and introduced e-Malkhana, a system for digitising police case property records. Krishna also led the charge against cybercrime, initiating both awareness campaigns and advanced training programs for police personnel and the public. Born in Lucknow on June 20, 1969, Krishna holds a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering. After clearing the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 1991, he was inducted into the Indian Police Service. One of the most impactful chapters of his career was his tenure as SSP Agra in 2004, when he led decisive crackdowns against notorious kidnapping gangs operating in the ravines. Known for his strategic acumen and clean image, Krishna's appointment is seen as a move toward reinforcing both the credibility and modernisation of Uttar Pradesh's policing system.
